Amitriptyline and hot flushes

I thought I’d share this with you.

I was prescribed amitriptyline for breast pain, to be taken at night before bed.  (Long story short.)  Anyway, I noticed I was sleeping far better, and not having night sweats.  It was the not having night sweats that came to my attention the most.  So I sort of followed that thought, and monitored my nights. and I did have the occasional one which wasn’t half as bad as before the amitriptyline, but nowhere near as bad as before.

Last night I left my tablets-taking until too late, so thought I’d just leave it for the night.  (I take the other cancer meds in the mornings.)  And guess what?  I was woken several times with bad night sweats.  So, ladies, maybe there is hope for the night sweats.  Maybe you could discuss this with your onc or GP and see if it helps.
