Re: Anyone In the derbyshire area?

Thanks emma, had hair cut today, number 3!! eeeek! feels very strange,my hair has always been my pride and joy so felt abit sad but being practical as I think waking up to clumps of hair on my pillow would be very distressing.love loz xx

Re: Anyone In the derbyshire area?

Hi Loz,

Pleased to hear the scans were clear earlier this week. Yes I think having hair cut shorter is a great idea. I had a bob and didn't have it cut but wish I had. You may also be lucky to have your hair grow back your dream colour. Mine has come back exactly the same texture and colour. Hope all goes well with the oncologist appointment next week.

Re: Anyone In the derbyshire area?

Hi ladies, have decided to get a headstart tomorrow and visit the hairdressers, maybe a number 5 or 6,no point in having colour and looking a bit like shirley hair ( eastenders) yes!that attractive!! so I think this will make me feel better and also it wont be so distressing when it starts coming out, does anyone think that this is a good idea?..I have short hair now anyway but its high maintenance colour and I know you cant have colour for 6 months after chemo so this would make sense..hugs all around..loz xxx

Re: Anyone In the derbyshire area?

Hi everyone, karen,I havent met my oncologist yet, have meeting with her on 6th feb to organise my first chemo, not sure ofmuch of the terminology on here but I expect I,ll pick it up along the way!any tips on chemo will be much appreciated girls! hope you are good today and look forward to meeting you all soon....loz xxxxx

Re: Anyone In the derbyshire area?

Hi Purple

Name of oncologist has been removed because I forgot we can't put professionals names on here. But yes, he is great and really puts you at ease. Hope the results are good for you. I have been lucky on that the only extra scan I had was an ultrasound of my liver after the chemo which sent my LFT's quite high. USS was normal and LFT's settled as quick as they rose.

Ahhhh the joys of chemobrain!!!

Re: Anyone In the derbyshire area?

Hi girls, thankyou all so much for your messages, just back from derby royal, felt like running out the door while waiting, its not such bad news as I was expecting, saw a lovely surgeon, having chemo first in the hope to shrink this thing and then surgery to remove lump and clear out lymphs, got an appointment for 2 weeks today with the oncologist and then it can begin,I know its still crap that I have this but the ct scan and mri scans were clear, major result for me! the lump I have is higher up than my breast, deep inside my chest wall in the muscle, all breast tissue though and lymphs too, feel more positive today for sure, and I know the chemo isnt going to be pleasant but I will get through it...love to all hope youve had a good day...hugs all around xxxloz

Re: Anyone In the derbyshire area?

Hi Loz

Nothing prepares you for the diagnosis and waiting is the worst part of it. Once you have a plan of action you will find the strength and ability to face treatment head on. I am just past my first year anniversary and look back and marvel how I did it (mx and chemo).

I am Hilton in South Derbyshire and am 44yrs (my 43rd birthday was day diagnosed). Hopefully any meetup I will be able to attend as I work full time but do work at home during the week.

Re: Anyone In the derbyshire area?

Hi Emma,

I'm fully FEC'd up now thanks!! Had my last chemo on Monday.

My first GP appointment with my lump was exactly a month after getting married! Didn't see that coming!!

SE's & injections willing, I'll try & call Amanda to get the ball rolling in the next couple of days.

Re: Anyone In the derbyshire area?

Hi Annie,
Sounds like a plan.
I just got married in November, can't believe it's happened!

Hope last Fec goes alright. Is that your last Chemo or have you got to have a different drug?

I live in Lichfield finished my Chemo a year ago and would be happy to meet up with any of you in the area
Emma x x

Re: Anyone In the derbyshire area?

I've been having treatment etc between burton, derby and Bham QE and live near Lichfield, so just down the A38 from you. I haven't yet met anyone in person on this journey so would be happy to have some real BC friends as well as the virtual support. I had my dx, mx and DIEP recon near end of last year.. Im in recovery mode now so not back at work yet.
