Re: Anyone due to start chemo in April? - Awesom April Angels

Fec-T clycle 1 day 13.
Started with a dry mouth friday night and now have a sore mouth. Is this what everyone is using the Corsodyl mouthwash for.
Got a call from hospital to say white cell count is low so not to party this weekend. Has anyone else had this yet? Fingers are now sore. Should I be painting them black and why havn't heard of this yet. No sign of hair loss for now.
Linda great to hear your out and ok.
Diggy Will try chewing gum.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo in April? - Awesom April Angels

Thanks everyone for your kind wishes, and to add to the confusion, although most of you know I am Linda, my user name is Lola after my gorgeous boxer dog!
Amber - your beautiful goldendoodle is the same breed as my daughter's dog, Colin. He is 4 now.

I hope my hospital experience is fair warning about your low immunity period. Day 10 for me and i was as bright as a button. Despite being on Tax I had very few side effects and was sailing through it feeling very guilty that others were having such problems. I was religious in taking my temp and thank goodness i was because on day 10 every reading was above 37 when I am nomally in the low to mid 36's. When it spiked at 38 I rang in and was told to go in ASAP. I did not feel poorly at all, yet my neuts had dropped to 0.1 which is dangerously low, and I was put on immediate IV antibiotics.

So please everyone, be vigilant with your temps even if you feel well. I use an ear thermometer, which varies considerably between ears, so I always take both ears and use the highest reading.

Take care everyone, and Mel - I hope they sort you out with the sickness for your next cycle. What an awful time you had.

Fec-T cycle 1 day 20

Hi girls,
Well Pixie Lott is now Jessie J! My head has been really sore the last two days, got up this morning and couldn't bear to touch my hair and it had thinned a lot so I phoned my friend to come down and shave it. The soreness has gone and it feels really empowering, must remember to put a scarf on my head before I answer the door in case I scare the postie! Bought some Aloe Vera to sooth my scalp and it works.
Linda- so glad you've been freed at last, what a nightmare especially when you felt ok
Debra - you sound a lot better, stick in there and good luck for Fri
Spudgirl - another Amber, it's a lovely name not that Iam biased or anything
Maisiecake - try Corsodyl mouthwash it works for ulcers etc
Pauline - Iam sure the hangover was worth it, good to enjoy normal time out
Mel A - sorry to hear you've had a rough few days but glad you're out of hospital. Daisy sounds a real cutey, they bring us so much joy and defo help n this journey. Amber is a proper girls girl and so funny. Iam going to continue using Amber as my name on the forum.
Moira, Judy, Laura, Angie, Kim, Kate, Maisiecake, Mel A and anyone I have forgotten, hope your s/e are minimal
Bloods tomorrow and all going well Cycle 2 on Tues, can't believe it's come round so qquickly
take it easy Angels xxx

Fec-t cycle 1, day 11
Afternoon Angels - glad you're home Linda. I went off tea but by day 9 it tasted great again, so hang in there! This is me with my new short hair. Head a bit tingly but hair not falling out yet. Had a couple of glasses of wine on day 8 and felt really ill so tried a half of cider on day 9 and again felt awful in the night and next morning, so may have to avoid the booze during treatment. Got a sore mouth starting yesterday - using alcohol free Listerine and chewing gum after food which helps. Inspired by the idea of the April 2012 forum members meeting up.
Take care everyone - I do feel it's getting easier. diggywiggy.

FECT cycle 1 day 1-3.
Sorry for the delay in posting. I've had a bit of a rough time. The infusion went well at 9:45 and I felt great until 2:00pm about half an hour after eating. Despite taking anti sickness meds I couldn't keep anything down after that and ended up being admitted on day two for an overnight stay in hospital for more anti- sickness meds and rehydration. Fortunately since I came home yesterday I have felt much better and I have more anti sickness pills to keep me going. Today I am noticing more differences in tastes and smells, which is interesting. Pineapple and orange squash seem to be the winners for me.
Linda it sounds like you've had a rough ride too. I'm glad they've let you out. Amongst everything it's pretty boring being confined to a bed in hospital.
Amber I'll keep using that name if it's ok with you or I'll end up getting very confused. I've git a 5 month old labradoodle pup, called Daisy. Shehas been a godsend in giving me something positive to focus on through this journey and is great company when I'm home alone. Your pup looks lovely and I hope she gives you as much pleasure.
Lori - well done for leafing the way with the hair. You're an inspiration. I think I'm going to crop mine at the end of the week before shaving it too.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo in April? - Awesom April Angels

Hi Angels,

Just a quick report to say the hospital has released me on bail. They wanted me to stay in another 24 hours without any antibiotics so they could monitor me in case the infection flares up. I promised to self-monitor, which is what we all do anyway, and was why I ended up there in the first place, not because i felt ill. They never did find the source of the infection, if indeed there ever was one, despite testing just about everything. So glad to be home, and so hoping I don't end up back there.

E-CMF day 3 cycle one
Hi all,
Louis, I'm on same drugs as you. There don't seem to be many of us! I'm having 4 cycles of Epirubicin, followed by 4 cycles of CMF, with radiotherapy in the middle. you're further on to me so any tips, re side effects appreciated.
After dreading 1st infusion it wasn't as bad as expected. glad I had Picc line put in now. Started feeling sick about 2 hours after I got home and continued to feel dreadful all night. Didn't sleep until I went to sit up downstairs, as I felt more sick lying down. got about an hour at 4am. Then started taking all the anti sickness tablets and steroids as instructed, felt MUCH better. Will ask if I can start them the night before next time! Although I did have some at hospital and 1 ondansetron before I went to bed. Still feeling nauseous, but much more manageable. The only things I'm managing to eat are plain boiled pasta or mashed potato everything else is a def no no.
Amber spudgirl: I usually am a complete tea addict but it's disgusting at the moment with milk. Can't face fruit teas. Think I'll try just weak black tea. the other thing is tomatoes- just the smell makes me heave!
How long after treatment do people usually get sore mouths etc- fine at moment on day 3. chemo nurse told me to sip iced water while the drugs were going through because it reduces mouth probs- hadn't heard this before, but I did it and no probs yet. Maybe it's too soon?
Linda Hope you're feeling better and back home soon. I sympathize with you about tablet. tried in bed last night, wrote long post and then lost it all! Can you get someone to bring you in more palatable food- even a more interesting sandwich might help!
realize I'm rambling on so have a great day all
Maisiecake /Mel ( I think there's another Mel as well?)

FEC CYCLE 1 -Day 7
Good morning! Actually ts afternoon and i am still on the sofa in my pyjamas. i feel fine, just cant be bothered to get dressed. Just watching all those amazing runners in the marathon on TV.
Primrosehill - I also have spots, like being a teenager again grrr.
Linda - what a rubbish time you're having, hope you are better soon.
Shona - i am actually called Amber, but think I'll stay as spudgirl (love of all things potato-y) -wish i had thesame flowing locks of your Amber though 😉
Re S/Es -
Pasta was the lunch i had in hosp when i had chemo . I was fine at the time but now i cant even think about it without heaving.
Tea with milk - I normally chain drink it , now i can't bear it so on fruit tea, which smells delicious but tastes nothing like the smell.
Generally feel slightly nauseas all the time, however i stopped the anti-sickness tablets on Thurs because I still felt nauseas while on them, and you can't drink wine with them , so wine won.
Angie i am with you on ginger biscuits and After Eights, also TicTacs extreme mint, and orangy chewy sweets .

Re: Anyone due to start chemo in April? - Awesom April Angels

good morning girls
day 5 has not started well, the sicky feeling has now got the smell factor. everything is making me nauseas, soap! mouthwash! washing up liquid! whats that about?? even my lovely bayliss and harding alcohol rub! not good and i think my rather ambitious plan of getting a few days back at work might be put on hold.
i have discovered the properties of the pineapple after being told to stay off fruit for a while due to a bout of gassy burps ( so pleasant) , thank goodness ive got a ginger bic and this morning i now know that after eight mints are edible, smell nice and are refreshing to the bad tasty mouth effect. stocking up for the future!
so tell me girls, at day 5, how long may these delights of the senses continue? do they wear off soon?
hope you are are all as well as you can be,
happy sunday

Re: Anyone due to start chemo in April? - Awesom April Angels

Loius
nails can be affected by the chemo as they are constantly growing so you can get ridges in them showing every cycle of chemo from the nail bed. I don't know what difference it makes but I was told very dark or black nail covering (varnish or gel) can reduces the impact on them.....I have dark purple currently to see if i can lessen the impact.....

Hi everyone, I will be having the 3rd chemo on Fri. The E CMF that is, no cold cap this time as head shaved now.
Lori you have really helped me, so thank you for that. Is anyone else on E CMF?
I am coping ok I think the Prozac is helping me.
i am dreading Fri but I guess that is one less to worry about. What happens to nails? Could someone explain.
I too have a dog a beautiful Cavalier called Louis.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo in April? - Awesom April Angels

Hi everyone
i ordered a lovely headband scarf and a couple of sleep caps from the Anna bandana website, my order came withing 2 dayS and they were really good quality and reasonably priced. I asked my Bcn why I would need sleep caps and apparently they serve a few of purposes. Some ladies feel the cold when they are in bed and the caps help them keep warm, I don't think this will be my problem as I'm menopausal and suffer from night sweats!! she also suggested that I wear one when my hair started to fall out as the hair would stay inside the cap and it is not as distressing as seeing your hair on the pillow or your bed.

AC cycle 1 day 4
Hello to everyone,
Glad to hear everyone is slowly managing the SE's. Hope you are home again soon Linda.
I had a great sleep last night and have been out and about all day today, with a short 20 min nap at about 5.30pm! I have been for a walk at Nymans Gardens, National Trust site, sat out in the garden for lunch, been to the garden centre and bought 3 hats! I can't believe how well I feel with so few SE's.....I feel like I'm going to be hit by a storm at some stage as I've been relatively SE free so far and I'm praying that it doesn't get worse tomorrow as I've finished my steroids and main anti-sickness tablets. I think I'm going to sleep with my fingers and toes crossed tonight!
Hope you all have a good nights sleep tonight and the nausea goes away for you all asap.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo in April? - Awesom April Angels

Angie, I really do feel for you having to think about going back to work, just be careful of picking up any bugs. I think the travel sickness bands are helping, I've definitely felt less sickly today. The test will be on Monday when I have no tablets left to take, I only got three days worth of tablets.
Kim it's good to read that you are feeling back to normal on day 5, fingers crossed it continues for you x
Hello Moira, thank you for the warm welcome, Im doing a bit like you, if I feel woozy or ill, I'm trying to take a nap, which really helps but it's hard when I would normally have to be dying before I would sleep through the day. I'm trying to lit it to an hour at the most, I can't expect to sleep on a night if I'm napping through the day.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo in April? - Awesom April Angels

Hi Angels,
Kim, it looks like we,re on exactly the same regime - 3 days of 2 x dexa in the morning so sleeping not a problem. Ondan..sick tabs finished this morning - worked well so eating like a horse - food still tasting reasonably OK. Chemo nurse told me I'd put on about half a stone on steroids - didn't tell me that most of it would go on in the first three days! Still got the metaclopramide sick tabs as back-up and managed to blag some lansoprazole antacids as have always suffered with reflux - took one at about one in the morning cos felt like I was burping up Sarsons.
Sorry Kate and Lori but today I've felt a bit woozy but a doze at lunchtime and a trip to the garden centre and Sainsbury's has helped. Got the strong corsodyl - I'll save that for last thing at night. Also bought a bottle of ginger and lemongrass cordial - tastes earthy!!! Constipation is staring to bother me - know what I mean by rabbit droppings! Got some strawberry liquorice laces.
Linda, poor you! You must be dreadfully fed up - sorry wrong expression considering the hospital food. Hope you make your escape very soon. Since I'm on the poor man's regimen - only EC I'm unlikely to have nail problems so I've had acrylics put on painted bcc pink - better than the little stubby flaky ones pre chemo but expecting hair to be gone in two to three weeks.
Judy, meant to say welcome the other day. The support from the April Angels is, without a doubt, Awesome! Make sure you take your anti-sickness as soon as you wake up - don't wait to see if you feel sick.
Best of luck for May 1, Zuzy, If you keep checking in here at least you'll get a good idea of what to expect.
Wishing us all lots of warm, sunny days with sunhats at the ready

EC Cycle 1 day 5

hi everyone
Feeling so much better today....in fact I feel pretty much back to normal. i've found eating a little something every couple of hours has kept the nausea and heartburn at bay. Yesterday evening I managed my first proper meal since the chemo, well it was about 1/2 a normal portion on a side plate but it stayed down with no unpleasant SE's.
Moira I finished my steroids and the ondansatron anti-sickness tablets yesterday, I just have the additional anti-sickness tablets left, i've about 10 days supply. Hopefully I won't need them anymore. I found sucking fruit sherbets has taken the strange metallic taste away and the liquorice really helps with both the mouth and any constipation.
Pauline - re steroids I must be on a different type as i had to take 2 tablets after breakfast every day for 3 days therefore there was no effect on sleeping .
Linda - sorry you are still in hospital particularly as you are feeling much better.
Pauline - glad you had a good night out, sometimes it is lovely to do normal things
hope everyone else is coping ok with the SE's and making the most of this good weather

Re: Anyone due to start chemo in April? - Awesom April Angels

hi girls
poor lola, that hospital food - well - what can you say? i found a wonderful cold trolley in my hospital with snacks and cakes and lovely sandwiches, but i found it on the day i checked out! it would have been nice if someone had told me about it before. maybe you should ask if your hospital has one.
judyd i'm going to get some bands on monday when i go bk to work, worth a try, never heard of them because ive never had travel sickness or anything. it just seems to be there in the background, that sickly feeling. i'm devastaed about the coffee and i dont like tea anyway, might try hot choc because i'm starting to feel a bit sore in the mouth. i do think nibbling ginger biscuits helps though, pleased with that at least.
is anyone back at work with these s/e's, i was hoping to go back monday, which will be day 6. hoping i can get a few hours without too much trauma anyway.

Pauline,
I took it at about 4 yesterday, but I've taken at 2 today, but we've other things going off too with my eldest daughter (15) so I've not slept properly for a month now. Fingers crossed tonight will be a better nights sleep. So far the S/e today are very doable.

FEC T Cycle 1, day 12

Afternoon ladies, feeling good today, cold almost gone just caugh left. Feel great otherwise apart from a slight hangover - can't blame the chemo for that! I had a great day out yesterdsay with friends and had one too many vino's, if only chemo could cure a hangover 😉

Lori - loving the 'do'
Amber - or should I say Shona, you've confused me lol!
Linda - I wasn't online yesterday so missed the fact you are in hospital, so sorry to hear that, it sounds awful particularly as you feel well and the food is dire. Hope you get home soon
Laura - welcome back, nice to hear from you again
Judy - welcome, what time are you taking your last steroid as it may be affecting your sleep? I was awake the whole night on my first day as my last stertoid was at 6pm. I phoned the chemo unti, after getting lots of good advice from the AAA's, and they advised if I wasn't feeling sick to take my last steroid at 2pm which i did and slept fine the next night

Hope everyone else is doing well

Hello angels
FEC-T cycle 1 day 2
Linda
hope they let you home from hospital soon, it's bad enough going through this without being in hospital. Fingers crossed for you x

Angie
the sickness bands I'm using are just travel sickness bands from boots. Ive had them on since this morning and I still feel slight nausea but im beginning to wonder if this is just the norm with chemo. hope your taste buds sort themselves out. I packed in smoking a day after I was diagnosed and my taste buds have been off since, but just on certain things, and I mean silly things toast, just buttered toast, ... Same butter we always use but the toast just tastes wrong. I hope when I get to day 4 I don't go off cups of tea.

just bought some fresh ginger and lemons, I'm going to make a drink up out of that, my Chinese sister in law recommended it for nausea.
hope you all have a good weekend x

Re: Anyone due to start chemo in April? - Awesom April Angels

Sorry agbout messy posts etc. I'm using my tablet which has a mind of its own.

Lisa - Yes, we had similar histories, although dx slightly different. I'm on the TCH same as you and until this happened I was sailing through it. I still haven't had any side effects worth mentioning.. Funny traste in mouth but Daily Corsodyl solves that one (at least 3 x a day) Some food tasted awful, includihng tea which gutted me, but all that has gone now. Diarrohea for a few days but nothing bad, some heartburn thatGaviscon sorted, and up to now no bone or joint pains. Hair still intact. I have black varnish on my nails, which the hospital doesn't like as it ihnterfers with their Obs, but thart is their problem. I hope it all goes smoothly for you.

TCH cycle 1 day 12.

Happy sunny weekend to you all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Linda

Re: Anyone due to start chemo in April? - Awesom April Angels

Hi Laura
My chemo nurse gave me the Onicolife for my nails, it helps by controlling the mast cells on the nails and restores the capability of the skin and nails to respond and repair damage done by chemo. I have painted my nails black, using Sally Hanson nail strengther first and Barry M mosaic in gol on top which looks better than just black nail varnish. Just thought I'd do it from the start rather that just for Tax so I'm I used to it

Re: Anyone due to start chemo in April? - Awesom April Angels

Afternoon Angels, and thank you so much for all your good wishes.

The bad news is I am still in hospital and they won't let me home for at least another 24 hours. My neutropphils are going up, from 0.1 to 0.2 to 0.6 today, and my temp is normal at 36.4. I've had 8 IV antibiotic infusions so far. I can't go home untilmy bloods increase toa more acceptable level, and they want to see how I go oin without antibiotics. Doctor said if he sent me home I would probably be back in with an ijnfection. I don't think I've had an infection up to now. All thetests they have done have come back clear, and my temp only spiked to 38 on one reading on Wednesday. Its now Saturday. I am sure I would be better off at home. Less people and less germs, less chance of infection. It is diabolical being here in isolation when you feel so well, ahnd the food is unspeakable. I am living off bananas, crisps, egg mayo sandwiches and haven't had a hot meal since Wednesday. This can't be doing me any good. The breakfasts are nice though, but why is it skimmed milk? They could at least provide semi skimmed ohn cereals!!!!

Thank you Gaynor. Let us know what a great time you all have and have a glass for all us angels. xxxx
Linda - Sending you lots of virtual get well hugs.
Shona - Love Amberdoodle. She's so cute.
Just a quick question. Anyone had a low white cell count yet (10 day blood test). Chemo unit rang yesterday to say mine is low and how do I feel. I actually feel quiet good but they told me to keep regular temp checks which so far are aslo fine.
Have a lovely weekend angels, and lets hope like Gaynor were all looking forward to meeting up this time next year. x

Re: Anyone due to start chemo in April? - Awesom April Angels

TC Cycle 1 Day 2
(Taxotere/Carboplatin)
I had my first infusion of the above yesterday, I posted what feels like a million years ago when the thread was new, I've been an avid reader but didnt really have anything to input until I started my chemo, I was due to have my loading dose of Herceptin yesterday too but received a phone call at 6.19pm on Thursday to say that the prescription hadnt been authorised by onc, the receptionist wasnt sure whether my appointment would be delayed, cancelled, put off til next week etc, as it was the chemo went ahead and the loading dose for Herceptin will be next chemo cycle, I was slightly stressed because its a difficult enought time as it is without them ringing and changing it all, plus it was a friends birthday yesterday and I'd have felt like a fraud if I'd turned up to join the party when my close friends had all turned up to my pre-chemo drinks on Tuesday evening..!! lol
Anyway I digress, for me so far so good, afew waves of nausea last night and felt extremely tired, so an immense battle between me and the steriods ensued..so far 1-0 to me, I did wake every couple of hours though, but finally gave in at 6.45 and got up, so I will tentatively say I cant complain at this stage..too much.

Linda - So sorry to hear you're in hospital after minimal se's, you were doing so well too, I think we were diagnosed at roughly the same time, same diagnosis IDC Stage 2 8mm ER+ PR- HER2+, we even both returned for further DCIS removal and clear margins on the same day, I did ask to delay my chemo start date because we were planning a holiday but in the end I couldnt face the upheaval of planning and packing then flying back at midnight the day before chemo, so the holiday will have to wait, I wish you a speedy recovery and hope the rest of the journey is se free..!!
Amber - Hi there, it took me ages to relocated your post about meds and oralite in prep for Tax, was this prescribed or over the counter..?? I've been told to paint my finger nails with a dark polish (this is sooo not me..!!) I never wear nail varnish or lipstick, unless its clear gloss so if I can avoid it I will, did they mention what the benefits of Oralite are..??
Judy - That raised a smile, which is especially rare for me this early on a Saturday morning, I didnt experience the same se's but I can imagine how the dog feels, my Mum shares the graphic info when she takes our family pet to the vets for anal gland clearance, well she does until the point I say, how relevant is this and do I really need to know (my Mum's very prartical about medical issues and I think she sometimes forgets I'm abit squeamish..!! lol) makes me kind of glad I didnt pursue my initial chosen career..as a nurse..!!
Moria - Corsodyl Daily is preferable to Corsodyl treatment..I now have both as brought the treatment first before doing my research..the Corsodyl Daily doesnt contain alcohol.
Take care..hope you have a wonderful se free Saturday

Re: Anyone due to start chemo in April? - Awesom April Angels

Christine, I've only taken the one sickness tablet so far, then I had a nap and woke up two hours later feeling much better. But I will ring the chemo today once I start the sickness meds properly today, if they're not keeping the nausea at bay. i Must buy some sickness bands, I will try anything that may help.
My two hour nap has not done me much good, 2.10 am and I'm wide awake With heartburn and nausea. So I'm on with Hotchocolate with a heartburn tablet followed by a ginger biscuit which helps with the nausea.
Kim I think your right about eating food little and often, I don't feel like eating at all, but little a often is working.
i had my first Fec-t session yesterday, did anyone else have the incredible itchy bottom, the moment the steroids went In? I think for the first time every, I now know what the dog feels like, when his glands are full!

Hi Mosiecat
great news you aren't having any SE's, long may it continue! If you are buying corsodyl don't get the daily stuff, can't remember why but think it hasn't got the right ingredients to helpto you need the full strength one apparently. My chemo nurse said Difflam on prescription is the best if you can get hold of your GP.

Hi Angels, Feeling a bit of a fraud at the mo because I don't appear to have any s/es. It's been my OH's birthday today so he was really pleased I'd woken up early feeling well. Manage to sing him a very ironic Beatles song: he's 64 and I'm losing my hair!
Lori, your picture is wonderful - as is yours, Shona!
Linda, so sorry you've ended up in hospital. I see you're on day 11 - right in the middle of the low blood count period. A warning to us all!
Kim, have you finished taking your anti-sickness meds and steroids? My anti-sickness runs out tomorrow morning and the steroids last till Sunday. I'm staring to worry now. Perhaps I'd better go shopping tomorrow - seasick bands, liquorice, corsodyl daily and ice lolly moulds
Take care Angels, Moira x

Hi AAA's,
Just popping in from last year's April thread. I started my chemo 26th April 2012 so a year this coming week. Our group of April Bunnies (as in Easter, it was a bit later last year) are meeting up tomorrow for afternoon tea at a Mayfair hotel. 16 of us keep in regular contact now through a Facebook page and 13 will be raising a glass or cup to 'celebrate' our year on.
All the very best to you all, hope your SE's are not too horrid and if they are, they will pass.

Fec-t cycle 1 day 18
hi all, hope you are all doing well and not suffering too badly with the dreaded s/e!
my side effects seem to be under control now, i've discovered that if i eat little and often it keeps the upset stomach settled, less heartburn and bloating. My head is a little sore and itchy after wearing my wig most of the day, but will soon settle down now i have taken it off and put my scarf on.
Amber - thanks for the lovely morning, i really enjoyed our coffee and chat, will def do it again I'm going back for an orange choc cupcake 🙂 I didn't realise it was the first time you'd been out with your wig on, you were very natural with it! Amber is lovely by the way, hope your jab wasn't too bad!
Linda - sorry to hear you're in hosp, hope you feel well enough to get home soon 🙂
Judy - keep with the anti-sick tablets, if they are not working as they should def phone up and ask for different ones. I have a 24hr phone no from anchor unit which is where I get my chemo, i phone there and speak to an oncology nurse and they can arrange for tablets for me or contact my gp and get a script from pharmacy for me. don't suffer if you don't have to.
Hope all you other strong brave ladies keep your chins up and remember, this is not forever, just a means to an end!
Enjoy your weekend Christine x

Thank you Kate, I will have to try the sickness bands, anything is worth a try, the throwing up is the only part I know, I will not cope with, any other side effects are ok, but being physically sick is one thing I cant do with.
hello Kim, hope you get our heartburn sorted out and there's no msick being sick or you.
Hello Amber, thank you for the well wishes, the sun being out, makes all the difference, hope you have a relaxing weekend before you start again.

EC Cycle 1 day 4
Today didn't start well as I was sick when I got up this Morning. Took anti-sick meds and started to have food little and often which have helped. Keep getting heart burn which gaviscon is controlling at the moment.
had a call from my Bcn who advised my to contact the chemo unit if my sickness, nausea and heart burn continues as they can change my medication. Temperature and everything else seems ok and managed to go food shopping this afternoon. Was due to meet up with some friends this evening but I think I'll give it a miss.
Hope everyone else is doing ok

Re: Anyone due to start chemo in April? - Awesom April Angels

Oh no Linda, sorry to hear this as I thought I was following your great path through this - perhaps I'll stop just before the high temperature! Hope you get out of hospital soon and they identify the cause so it doesn't come back as soon as the IV anitbiotics are stopped. Take care of yourself and keep smiling through it.
Judyd - welcome and glad to hear the first dose wasn't too bad, hope your nauseousness fades - if it doesn't get onto the unit to change your anti-sickness as there are many to try and one should suit you! I am also using 'seabands' to aleviate sickness - don't know if they are working but I'm using anything to keep me as good as I can!

FEC-T Cycle 1 day 1
Hello lady's this is my first post in here, I was diagnosed with invasive lobular breast cancer on the 26th march, I found out at the beginning of the week it's in the lymph nodes. I thought they were going to do the mastectomy first then chemo and radiology but they're doing the chemo first, 6 cycles of FEC-t. I had the first one this morning, it was fine. I'm feeling a little light headed and maybe a little nausious at the moment, not sure yet. Going to have something to eat and see how I go.
im pleased the treatment has started and happy that I found this forum. good luck to all the April Angels. X x

Re: Anyone due to start chemo in April? - Awesom April Angels

Hi Linda
So sorry to hear this - especially after you'd being doing so brilliantly. Do they think there is any connection with the phlebitis? I've been hibernating for a couple of days and think I will continue to do so.

Take very good care of yourself. Hope you are soon on your way home.

Re: Anyone due to start chemo in April? - Awesom April Angels

Morning Angels,

Disasterous news for me. I am in hosp[ital with neutropenia. I was admitted yesterday after my temp spiked at 38, then fluctuated up and down but never actually reached 38 again. I rang in , went to chemo unit who did some bloods, and my neuts are down to 0.1. So they sent me to the edical Assessment Unit which is where I still ajm 24 hours later, with no hope of going home until at least tomorrow. I am on IV high dose antibiotics. I can go home when my temp has been normal for 24 hours. The nurse has just taken it and it was 36.8 so whooppee, I'm getting there. They say I must have an infection but can't locate it, ahnd I feel perfectly well. Tot5ally normal in fact. So I am somewhat P'd off with all this.

(TCH day 11 cycle 1)

My baseline temp is low, it is normally about 36.3. I have been told that doesn't matter at all. If your temp is 37.5, youy should take it again an hour later. If it is still 37.5 or higher, you must ring in immediately. and tell them, no matter what time of day or night. I have also been advised the Ear thermometers are3 the most accurate, but it varies from ear to ear, so take it in both ears and pick the highest.

Sorry about typos- my tablet keyboard is too small for my fingers!

FEC-T Cycle 2 Day 3

Hi all,
Slept not bad last night, still a bit of nausea through the night but not too bad.
Thanks for support about pic...losing your hair is a horrible side effect and it's true that some days it does get you really down. Since taking the plunge to go shorter initially (like you PrimroseHill - profile looks great by the way, good for you!!) It did make my decision to have it all removed alot easier as just watching it fall away day by day and seeing more and more of my patchy scalp was too depressing!!
I had my wigs trimmed at the same time and I am pleased too that they seem more comfortable now with no scratchy pulling on hair underneath, so thats a bonus as I will be alot happier wearing them now.
I hope you have all had a peaceful night and a good day ahead!

Morning Angels. FEC-T Cycle 1 day 11
I did post yeaterday but somehow it didn't appear. I now no that i'm ER+ PR+ and HER+. Had a big wobble at having all three but have been told that all can be targeted. My chemo is Fluorourcil, Epirubicin and Cyclophosohamide.
Linda I got brave enough to find out the technical stuff instead of sticking my head in the sand and I do feel more in control.
Feel good almost back to normal now and have had no hair loss as yet. Went for ten day blood and they had to try twice to get any. I am also getting spots (hardly ever did before) anyone else found this?
Pauline & Lori both look fab. Made me brave enough to upload Pixie.
Amber, Diggy, Spudgirl, Angie, Masie, Kate and all Angels. Lv & Hugs.

Its a lovely photo. I'm 47 but have no children, just nephews, nieces and godsons!
My 'normal' temperature is apparently 37.2 in my ear so they want to know if it gets to 37.5 in my ear but they said they are likely to only worry if it gets to 37.7 as it would be 0.5 above my normal but 36.7 for me would be low. Basically they seem to be thinking 0.5 above or below your 'normal' is when they start to worry. They should have taken yours when they took your bloods and at your chemo session yesterday so if they didn't tell you ring them and ask what they assume to be your normal
