Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Hello gals

My, but you have been quiet lately!! Hope that means that you are all keeping well and getting on with life.

They couldn't do the banding - there was too much trauma so it'll have to calm down before they can operate. It was really sore getting the exam, even with sedation. My poor bum! Getting it done after rads is finished and getting meds in the meantime. Feeling much better but INCREDIBLY weak and feeble. Cannot walk up a flight of stairs without a couple of rest breaks and even he walk to the rads room left my legs like jelly at the simulation. I am getting impatient with myself. Starting rads tomorrow! In the final straights now and big tum of E45 chillin in the fridge!

Great that you are loving the wig shop Fee. I had the scalp ''pain' over the weekend and the rest of the hair in coming out - 3 weeks after final chemo. Weird or what? Hope it grows back, sometimes it don't after Tax apparently.

Hoping you are all doing wonderfully, especially Shiela and Maggie. Chemo sucks big time. No doubt about it. But it will be a memory soon. Helen, almost finished!!!! CONGRATULATIONS. And your skin held up! Any tips sweetheart?

Anyone else rivited to X-Factor? I am becoming smitten by the twins. Chemo brain, do you think?

Hugs

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Hi Girls

I hope everyone is keeping OK and had a good weekend. I haven't been on recently as I have a habit of falling asleep on the settee in the evenings - was asleep before the kids on Friday night - probably helped by the glass of red wine I had!

I'm now on my final countdown to finish my rads - only 6 sessions to go - and then no more stressing about car-parking spaces at the beatson - yipee!!! My skin is holding out really well, my boob is a lovely colour and looks like its been on a fortnights holiday in the sun - I just wish the rest of me was the same colour - lol!!

Take care all.

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Hi Girls,

Hope you all had a nice weekend?

Annie, hope you are well and your wee op went fine.. It's great you're finished chemo and I'm sure you'll be fine with rads.. you can ask for a gown when you arrive and there are changing rooms if you would prefer that than undressing in the room..

Helen is this your second last week? How are you bearing up? you'll be so glad when it's all finished..

Sheila, hope you are ok... you've not been on in ages and I just hope things are ok with you.

I'm just waiting for a cardiology referal as had to stop herceptin.. probably going to need heart medication to help it recover with a good break from it.. hopefully I will be offered it again in the future...I'm back at the beatson on 1st Dec if anyone is around?

well off to get ready for the shop....I'm really enjoying it!

Hope everyone else if fine..

Big Hugs and best wishes to all

Hello hello hello...it's me. how are you all doing? Ive been a wee bit rougher than usual with this cycle..but feeling ok tonight. I like the sound of Christmas dinner even though my taste buds seem to have dissapeared...tonight Im mainly sucking Rowantree Fruit Pastilles.
It seems that everyone has had a wee bit of a rough month, lets hope that the weeks up to Christmas are a wee bit easier. I've only two more chemos to go...can hardly wait till this part is over.

Anyways my lovely girls..hope you are all chilling tonight

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Hi Guys

Sharon - THE BEST news. I think the thing to remember is that you are cancer free, in fact we all are, or will be soon!!! We are more at risk than many, but no worse off than they are, just MUCH more aware. I am so glad that your life will be returning to a sense of normality soon. Any idea when will you be getting your recon?

Fiona, also great news on the wig shop front. I know Aidraina from St Enochs was rushed off her feet; so many women in our position in need of wiggies, so that might not also give you an ideal job, but job security too. And you would be perfect for it. I am due another wiggie in December. They really only stay nice for about 6 months, don't they? Friction, weather, heat etc, I suppose. I have now lost most of the hair I kept throughout this chemo - thank god - so I have just a thin covering now. It was coming in as a wiry Afro!!!!

All went well with the echocardiograph, somewhat to my surprise given the cardiotoxic chemo and herceptrin, infections etc of late.

It's just hit that chemo is finished!!!! And that that the awful side effects this time are waning. Just got to give it time now. Still can't do much (I have some steroids left because I got a days intravenously on lat TAX) and I take one to give me a boost if I need to get something done, like going to the bank. Don't tell anyone! I now have to drink - I kid you not - 4 litres of solution prior to my procedure tomorrow!! FOUR litres!!!!!!!! They warn you not to stray tooooo far from a loo. I'll be reporting from there for the next 24 hours!!! And I am having visitors this evening ...

Starting rads next week, slightly apprehensive, getting so many of them ... is it true that you only get a strip of paper to cover yourself at the Beatson when beinng zapped? If so, what is the rational? Other units let you wear a gown, like they did in the simulation. As if we arent put through enough ...

Hope you are keeping well, resting as much as you can ...

Shiela, Yvonne and Maggie - how are you girls keeping? Treatment being rough/kind on you? Check in to reassure us. It would be great to all meet in the run up to Christmas.

Hugs to all

Annie xxxx

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Hi Girls

I hope everyone had a good weekend. We just a quiet one and I still ended up falling asleep on the settee.

Sharon - It's great news that you aren't having to go through another grouling year of treatment, I'm so pleased for you. It was a shame I missed you today - you were looking really well.

Fiona - I'm really glad you're enjoing your wig training - I'll PM you the contact at Stirling Royal, she arranges wig appointments for everyone having chemo in Forth Valley, from memory there are 3 or 4 wig shops that I could visit. Might be worth giving her a call.

Yvonne - good to hear from you again. Its great that you're at the end of your chemo.

Pauline - Take it easy at work and don't overdo things.

Carol - Hows the holiday packing going? I'm sooo jealous, wish I was going away, although my boob looks like its just back from a fortnights hol!!

Annie - The girls doing the rads are all lovely - I'm in treatment room I - I'm in early next week and need to head home straight after to collect Serren from nursery.

Lulu - thanks for the document link, it was really interesting and I'll definately have it with me when I go for my annual check-up.

Sheila - how are you doing now?

Only 11 fryings to go now. It'll be such a relief not to have to travel to Glasgow everyday - there's average speed cameras through the roadworks on the M80, which are so stressful as you need to keep an eye on your speed constantly.

Christmas Lunch sounds great.

Take care. Lots of hugs

Helxxxx

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Sharon,

Great news about your treatment.. what a relief not to have to go through months of it again.. 5 herceptins will fly in and you'll be able to get on with things again...good for you getting out and enjoying yourself...Big Hugs to you xx

I'm really enjoying my wig training...it's amazing how much there is to learn. I was shocked to hear that the Beatson won't distribute Sharon's flyer as they have said they can't be seen to be promoting one business.. there are leaflets all over the hospital advertising all sorts of things, and in the chemo suite they're giving out a sheet with the other 3 on it.. All the breast clinics round Paisley and Glasgow have been great and taken it happily... very strange!! well I put up a wee thread on here as I'm sure there are many people who are looking for information, who don't post.

Annie, Good to hear you're feeling a bit better, you will be fine with Rads... it's a walk in the park compared to chemo. I hope your arm behaves itself and doesn't give you any trouble... I think your suggestion of cafe Andeluz is good... I haven't been yet but would love to try it... how does that suit everyone else?

Good luck Pauline with your 2 days at work....don't be doing too much..!!!

Helen, hopefully I'll get to see you tomorrow, have another blether and a catch up.. hope my clinic isn't running late...(but we all know it probably will!!)

Sheila, how are you doing? haven't heard from you in a while. I hope it's not the chemo keeping you away!! let us know how you're doing, if you can xx

Take care girls, Yvonne, Mags, Carol, Lulu and Joanne.. big Hugs x

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Ok guys new update!!
I have now been told no chemo for me as there is nothing there to treat, I will just get Rads as planned. Also I will only get Herceptin for my original treatment so only have 5 more left.
They say what is the point in putting me thro Herceptin when this one isn't reacting to it, I'm only 35 so they don't want to go down the road of putting me on Herceptin for life when I don't need to.
They said if it was Secondary cancer then I would be on it for life.

So girls it is good news that I don't need to go thro a whole year of grouling treatment again

I hope everyone had good weekend, I was out Frid night and Sat night my friends son made us a gorgeous meal

Take care for now lovley lassies xxxxxx

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Hello my lovlies!!

Yvonnne and Pauline, so very good to hear from you again. You both are as bouncy and feisty as ever, I see, thank god! How is work going Pauline, you seemed to have gone back awfy quick. I still can't walk the hoover over the carpet, so returning to a normal life seems such a long way away.

So much pain on the thread, news of cancer deaths cut you to the bone, especially when the victims are young women with children. It's the unfairest thing. And, of course, it throws our condition into the sharpest focus too. Cancer is a scary thing to live with.

Sharon, pet, I hope you are feeling better, you have had TOO TOO much on your plate for anyone to face, and the medical screw ups must make you so bloody frustrated. I am beside myself with fury that you are denied a potential life saving drug because of NICE criteria. Well we get Herceptrin because of a woman's brave battle, so we will have to get our thinking caps out to see how we can highlight this. Apart from that, how are you feeling?

Fee, what are they going to do about the herceptrin/heart situation? From what I been told, they will continue the Herceptrin once they get the heart under control. Jeez, we don't need ANY of this. I am getting my first echo on Monday (had to be postponed because of rads planning) after my Herceptrin. I have been so ill the last couple of months, I am worried. Oh well we'll see.

Feeling much better, Saw Dr D on Monday and she is convinced that problem will resolve itself once the chemo leaves my system and that I was just hyper sensitive to TAX. Things are getting better and I am getting the banding done on Thursday. Might need more than one wee op, it seems but they will know more then. Baring my bum now ... oh the indignity of it all!!!

Helen, the planning session went well. Aren't the staff lovely? They answered all my questions (but then we are all forewarned by you wonderful trailblazers), got my tats etc. They had to position my arms as i can't move the right one over my head! It's so embaressing having to explain the restricted movement and sore moving it into an unnatural position. But not too painful holding it there. My sessions start on Nov 17th and my times are generally 1.30pm. It would be great if that co-incides with any of yours.

Anyway that's the (scant) news from the front. I truly hope you are all having a lovely restful and side effect free weekend, especially Shiela and Maggie. How are you both? Holding up ok?

Christmas lunch sounds awesome, but I would have to join you late after rads as I will be frying all through November and December, inc Christmas and New Years Eve. If I may make a suggestion, we went for the Christmas Lunch at Cafe Andeluz 2 years ago and it was one of the finest meals any of us had ever had. And not too expensive either

With heartfelt cuds

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Hi all, sorry to hear of the tragedies that have happened and all the problems you all have being having. It’s terrible when this happens but we have to remember there is light at the end of the tunnel it’s just no one comes and tells us how successful it has been for them, nothing to buck us up, so we need to buck each other up.
I can’t come up with anything poignant at 6 in the morning after chemo.
So this is the best I can do because all the other jokes I have would be barred on the site because some jokes need the bad words to make them funny.

A plane is quickly losing altitude and all the passengers know its going to crash and start saying their goodbyes
A woman stands up, rips off her blouse and shouts “Someone make me feel like a woman again for one last time”
A Scotsman stands up, rips off his shirt and says “Here hen, iron this”!

Been in Birmingham for 6 days chilled out, last chemo next
friday morning anyone at the Beatson then?
Start radiotherapy on 7 dec
Pauline haven't seen any posts on how you are doing?

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

i had my flu jag last friday.... was a bit of a debate as to which side to do it but i requested my left side as im right handed despite it being the most recently operated on... but no evidence of lymphoedema so just went for it.

i asked onc team when was best to have it and they said was the day after chemo as they knew you bloods were good enough at that time... otherwise chemo would be postponed.

iv had no real problem with it except and achy arm where it went in but thats a really common SE and its starting to feel a bit easier now.

iv never had flu jab before but did get flu last Xmas... for the first time ever so didnt wanna chance it this year.

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Hi Sharon,

Can't believe they didn't have another needle to give you the injection... honest to God!! I had to have the anti sickness given with the IM needle in my bum!! oooch! Are you allowed to have flu jag when on treatment? I need to run it past my Onc but my BC nurse has said in the past that he doesn't like his patients to have it whilst on any kind of treatment...

I was in the wig shop on Monday... had a good time. Think it's going to be an interesting job, fingers crossed..

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Another Saga for me today, went to get flu jag, they couldn't give it to me as they didn't know where else would take!! Apparently the needle was only 1cm long, they will have to get longer needle ordered to be able to give it in leg or bum. Honeslty you'd think I was the only person to have a double Mastectomy

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

carol can completely understand your reasons for not going to the funeral and im sure it was really appreciated by the family for you to look after the little one. sending big fluffy cyberhugs.

helen the SIGN guidelines suggest follow-up mammo should be once or twice a year for 5 years following DX... most unit prob wont go for twice a year but i think you can clearly argue for annual mammo as sign guidelines are evidence based clinical guidelines for the nhs in scolatnd.

http://www.sign.ac.uk/pdf/sign84.pdf think its on pdf page 31 doc page 29 section 7.1.1
its still current although it was published in 2005, however they are considering updating it but this hasnt happen yet so this is the standards your unit should be using.

fee i know totally how you feel in that post treatment limbo-land when everybody expects you to be back to normal because physically you have recovered but the psychological worries do take much longer to resolve.

happy farming & baking & fish tank cleaning etc lol

Evening All,

Just a quickie!! getting to the letters round the wrong way stage with tiredness.... will be heading to bed shortly..

Helen, can't believe you're half way!! seems like it's flying in, not for you maybe.. but I found it really quick with me. I see you're into keeping fish now!!! very addictive!! next you'll be having a farm and then a cafe.... you wait and see!!! all the peeps on facebook will know what I'm on about, everybody's into it!!

Carol, how you feeling today? I don't blame you for not being able to go to the funeral..I think all our emotions are all over the place at the moment..it's going to be a while before we are on an even keel..

Sharon, BIG hug Mrs!! you are having a really tough week this week but you just come on here and rant all you want...do it in stages if you want!!! don't be hurting the poor fingers!! we are all here for you, don't let things build up..I know sometimes we spend most of the day keeping a lid on things and trying to act normally, but coming on here and letting it all out really helps.. I can do wobbly big style now!! everybody seems to do it at the start, but no!! I had to be different...

Annie,Sheila,Maggie,Yvonne and Pauline hope you are all doing fine.

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Hi Girls
Where do I start, what a time we are all having .....

Carol – I’m so sorry to hear about your friend, its just so awful to hear news like this, especially when there are wee ones left without a mum. That thought of anything happening to me when the kids are so young terrifies me – as you just want to be there to protect them. I'm sure your friends family and husband will be really grateful that you're looking after the 2yr old - thats a lovely thing to offer to do.

Sharon – I’m sending you a big hug, it really isn’t fair that you have to go through all this again. You must have been really frustrated turning up for your heceptin today and not being able to have it. I’m glad you now have a treatment plan in place so you know what’s happening. What time are you at the Beatson on Thursday? I’m really sorry to hear about your uncle.

Fiona – I’m sending you a huge hug too. I know what you mean about the worry of all your treatment being over, I know I’m starting to get a bit worried about things too. I think whilst we’re having chemo and rads we have this ‘safety net’ reassuring us that everything is being done to fight the cancer, but when all the treatment is over that safety net is whipped away and we are left to worry about what could happen. Apparently in my area you only get follow up mammograms every 2 years, which I don’t understand as my sister who is being monitored because of me has been told she’ll get a mammogram annually as a precaution; she lives in Wales. Happy Birthday to Ciaran – I hope you had a big glass of wine to celebrate.

Maggie – I’m glad you managed to get out over the weekend and had a good day. Take it easy.

Annie – How did your rads planning session go today. I was looking out for you (not that we’ve met yet) outside the planning room as I walked past to the rads treatment room – I was wearing a blue flowery top and smiling at everyone in case it was you!!. What time are your appointments scheduled for? How are you coping now?

Sheila – How are you feeling now? Are you going to be able to make it out this week for a belated birthday celebration?

I’m now half way through my rads, 15 down 15 to go. Driving isn’t too bad although I’m really tired on the way home. The se’s from tamoxifan haven’t been too bad either - so far, I get the occasional ‘hot flush’ (well, thats what I think they are) but nothing else – so fingers crossed it’ll stay like that.

Pauline, Yvonne and everyone else, I hope you’re all keeping OK.

Lots of hugs to everyone tonight I think we all need them!!!

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Hi girls

What a time we are all having!!
I went up north to Tain as it was my uncles funeral on Frid, he died of lung cancer, got another funeral this Thurs but nothing to do with cancer.

I was told that I was going on Lapatinib if they could get the funding but when I went to Onc after op they said I'm not getting Lapatanib as they can only apply for it if I had Secondaries, they are treating me as another Primary.

Oh girls I don't think I've told you all that I am a very rare case for the West Scotland (theyre not sure about rest of country). Apparently they have never seen a case like mine at all, they are having discussions about me at Beaston all the time, don't think they know what to do with me.

I am getting Rads and chemo together starting 30th Nov, chemo for 2 weeks which is Capcitabine tabs along with Rads for 4 weeks.

I went up to get Herceptin this morn but they couln't give it to me as the lines of communication failed and they forgot I would need have a hickman line put in, now scheduled for Thurs afternoon!!

I just feel like this is an ongoing saga, everytime I go up to hospital it's always something nothing seems to go smoothly any more.

I am so sorry Fee and Carol to hear of your news, that's all I seems to be hearing/thinking about at the moment. I just wish to god they could find a cure, as I am typing this tears are running down my face its all just not fair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really would love a good rant but I don't think my fingers are upto all the typing I'd need to do.

Signing off now

Oh and I signed petition and sent it to friends
Hugs Sharon xxxx

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

I said eyebrow tatoo didn't I??? well meant piercing!!! chemo brain!!

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Carol, Big {{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}... awful sad!! It's horrible hearing news like that.. I'm still a bit wobbly myself this week but a lot better than I was.. I'm a bit up and down. Trying to look for all the positives in everything...Telling myself off if I get too down!! don't know quite how else to deal with it??? I've heard it said that it can be difficult when treatment is over and a lot of people can get very wobbly, so I think that's where I'm at, at the mo.. I was very good emotionally when dealing with treatment even though I was quite ill....big jibbering wreck now!! so I hope it passes soon..I haven't ruled out counselling in the near future if it doesn't lift but in the meantime I'm trying to keep busy!!

Maggie... great to hear you went to Girvan, so pleased that you're out and about and not holed up in bed!!! Dunure is one of my favorite places, my kids love that wee beach.. The weather is awful today though.. the kids were so lucky getting a dry night last night.

Ciaran is 16 today...he had a great time in town yesterday!! like a dog with two tails!! met his hero Noel Fielding from mighty Boosh...He's pushing for an eyebrow tatoo now!!! oh God!! My once conervative strict instincts are now replaced with "oh well, you only live once!"...I might get one!! (NOT!) maybe this is a new chilled me!!!

Well going out for tea tonight so no cooking... then glass of vino and Xfactor.. oh and a big chunk of Birthday cake!!HeeHee!!

Hope you are all having a nice weekend!!

Well im in shock today, one of my neighbours 39, 2 kids 2 & 6 was ill with leukemia, she was in the beatson undergoing treatment and I bumped into her hubby yesterday and asked how she was doing, she died on Wednesday night from a blood clot in her brain, as he knew I had cancer, it was horrible, my hubby was with me and he started crying!!, it was awful, I never slept a wink last night.

life is so precious, I cant even face going to her funeral, the poor wee kids.

Signed the petition, but it is generic - all cancer treatments to be available to all ... perhaps we should start a specific thread? Ladies died waiting for Herceptrin ...

Well done Fiona. Best of luck on the Irish jig front. I am sure you would be such an asset.

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Morning all,

Feeling a lot better today!! in fact..woke up fighting!! There is a thread about Lapatanib and the fact that NICE(nasty!!) have ruled it out as treatment on the NHS.. well!! I'm pissed off basically!! People are going to need that treatment and I know Sharon is probably one of them.... and possibly me and Annie if Herceptin doesn't do the trick!!! One of the women want to try and drum up support to bring it into the media attention.. If things like this are going to rely on a secondary breast cancer patient to sue their primary care trust then it'll be a long way off!!I know Scotland is different but if Sharon can't get it up here then we have the same fight!! Could all you girls pop onto that thread and give your support... please!!!

If we can get the same support for this as what the Katie Price fiasco drummed up then that'll be great..

Karen who died didn't receive herceptin first time round as it wasn't available... but now it is and it just shows how things progress and that receiving herceptin early on really does work.. Lapatanib isn't available and you can see a pattern forming!!

I haven't a clue how best to drum up support, so if anyone has a spare journalist lying around.... give em a dunt!!!!

lots of love to you all

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Hi Guys

Fiona and Carol, I know what you mean about hearing about girls who have succcumbed to this horribe disease. It just brings it home what a scary thing is happening to us all. We are all positive and strong - all of us - and those girls I'm sure, were too. I also feel a bit guilty because i was caught early with a big tumour that was less than a year old, or I would have been dying now or soon as it would have met. So it's that easy to get caught too late. It has made me terrified for my 5 nieces. One, Sinead, has just turned 13 (Sep 25th) and her maternal aunt (dx when she was breastfeeding at he age of 38) had a radical mastectomey in 2006, at the same time as my brother died. Wee Naydi is convinced that she will get bc. What can you say? Just pray that they will never be afflicted by this or any other cancer. Their girls' poor kids! It is hard to come to terms with losing a parent at any age. My mum became deadly ill when I was 14 and never fully recovered, so we are always moved by childrens' grief.

You might have heard recently about the mother and daughter who died in a housefire in Blantyre a couple of weeks ago? We lost a family member to a housefire in 1986 and it all came crashing back. My cousin, who was rescued wearing only her goonie, was inconsulable. they were newlyweds and had just moved into their new house. Within 2 weeks, she had lost everything a few days after her 21st birthday. I shrink when I hear a fire brigade to this day. Nd hearin about a tragedy on your doorstep ... throws it into sharp focus like it happened last week.

These things never leave you, and we will just have to come to terms with the fact that we are, or are going to be, bc survivors. It will be an integral part of us for the rest of our lives and is as scary as it is inevitable. But look what we have went through, what we have conquered. BC not for sissies that's for certain sure!

I am feeling so very much better! Still can't go the the loo, but have cut down on the laxatives (3 types) as they were causing the pain with terrible trapped wing. I threw up in Morrison's yesterday because of the pain - just made it to the loo!! So now I am taking the minimum, am ingesting very little anyway. Just praying I don't have to go back to A&E with a raging temp and an impacted colon again! So sore, so HUMILIATING! It was the worst thing I have ever gone through.

I had very early chemo yesterday and had my dex and fruit tea ready for after my shower but my lift arrived and left without taking them. So they gave me 20mg intravenously and what a massive boost - I felt like I was on speed!!! I washed windows in my living room, trourghly hoovered, washed the kitchen floor, stove and hob - things I could only dream of a couple of days ago! Took my 16 mg today and feel full of beans. Finishing steroids tomorrow so I will probaly crash with a massive bang, but feeling good - and capable - and AWAKE!!!for 2 whole days has been such a gift!!!

Waiting now for my appointment for the banding procedure, which sounds both gross and embaressing. Let's hope that they give great sedation, the more the merrier. I can hardly sit just now so hope painkillers will also be at hand!! This has been the worst, this and the weakness/sleepiness. So not me!

Shiela, how are you feeling now sweetheart? Is is grim, the old Tax, very few things have laid me low, but it did. It was Sharon's bravery which persuaded me to continue as I was ready to beg for another chemo after 2. But research proved that Tax + herceptrin gives me the best chance, but it was Sharon who inspired me. Thanx Sharon, what a girl!

Maggie, how are you feeling after FEC? Are you getting many s/e, apart from the unavoidabe weariness and stomach pains? You are almost there. One more hurdle done! Oh, TIP. I suffered awfully after every chemo with bleeding ulcers and thrush (even with FEC) Last Tax and this I one sucked 2 ice lollies each time, wee fruit ones, while getting the infusion and got 2 tiny ulcers which disappeared overnight!! Worth trying and not at all unpleasant. Hopefully I'll get off this time too. It seems to work on the same principle as cold cap. Got some in the freezer now too, but havent needed them yet.

Hope you are all well and in good spirits, you are the best, believe me.

God bless, sleep well

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Fiona - so sorry to hear about your friend's niece. When you hear news like that it really hits home what a serious disease this is. As everyone has been saying, make the most of each day and so often it's just the simple things that brings a smile to our faces.
Maggie - hope chemo ok - have se's started yet. I usually get couple of days before it hits.

What about everyone else - Yvonne, Pauline, Annie - are you OK

Still feeling bit crap - had to go to bed this afternoon. Bit better now. Just get so fed up at times, but know must keep going.

Love

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Fiona..you are right..the whole thing stinks. It's awful when you hear of people dying from it, and so bloody frightening. Please God we all get through this and we can just get on. I too have started to appreciate the little things in life, Ive always been close to nature and love being alone in the wilderness and down the beach, but these days I seem to observe more than usual. A friend from the next village said exactly the same thing..she has been clear for 6 years...but she says she still is more in tune with nature than she ever was before...funny that ??

Helen..were you in the waiting room when I came back for my driver..I saw a girl with a scarf smiling at me..I was in a flap cos I had taken longer than expected..poor driver waited for 3 hours for me.

PS Helen..Im waiting for you to confirm me as a friend in Facebook xx

Hi Fiona

Sending you a huge hug too. Hearing such awful news really hits you hard, I know reading your post fulls me with fear for what the future holds. I think the scary thing is none of us know whats happening inside, which makes BC so bloody cruel.

Maggie - I was at the Beatson today, sorry I missed you.

Take care everyone

Lots of Hugs

Maggie good luck with your next chemo, your getting there x

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Morning all,

Just on to have a bit of a something! I have to go to work in a mo and not feeling awfully good! I have to get it off my chest or I'm not going to be able to function at all today ...

I found out by accident last night that a client who is a dear friend, her niece passed away last week from breast cancer who was the same age as me with a 9year old son.. she was diagnosed with secondries in Jan after 5 years of initial diagnosis..she's Her2+ also which makes it worse..She doesn't know I have found out and sent me a text yesterday to cancel her appointment saying she had a cold..obviously she can't face me right now which is totaly understandable.. needless to say I haven't slept much and can't get her out my mind..I can't believe how much this is upsetting me .. this whole breast cancer thing is just so rubbish sometimes! it never really goes away does it?

Sorry to unload like this, didn't know what else to do... have to go and pull myself together now..

Love

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Hi Girls

What is happening with this weather, it was just horrible today. Definitely not the best of conditions to drive through to the Beatson in, but thinking positively - 10 rads down only another 20 to go!!!!

Weel, just a quick post as I'm in the process of cooking Dinner.

Fiona - thats just great training with Sharon on Wigs - I'm, sure you'll be a huge inspiration to everyone wanting a wig. At least its getting you away from bejewelled - I'm sure you must of found a cheat - lol!

Carol - It hadn't even occurred to me that it could be the rads causing my mouth to taste funny - I just put it down to tamoxifan.

Sheila and Annie - I hope you are both feeling a wee bit brighter.

Sharon - How are you coping? have you got a treatment plan in place yet?

Maggie - let me know when you're at the beatson next, and we can try to meet up.

Pauline - I hope you're keeping well are you having something exciting for tea ?

Everyone else take care.

Helen
