Hi girls,

I'm Kim and I'm 39. I live in Paisley now but originally from EK. I'm in EK most days as my kids and family are there. It would be good to get to know other survivors. I am almost 10 years on. Hope to hear from you soon

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Hi girls

Sharon, congrats. Being an auntie is the best, all the fun and not too much of the responsibility. I will be a great aunt in April when Lily Rose makes an appearance. Cannot wait!

Fiona, hope you had a blast with your niece.

Poor big Whisper is fine, apart from his shoogly leg. He is in no pain (at least discernibly) He gets the op next month. He can jump up on the bed/my knee etc but is restricted to the house. On constant litter tray duty! He is a poo factory!

How is everyone? Shiela, are you ok? Maggie - how many more rads? Bet you will be glad to see the back of the Beatson. We went up the great western road on Sunday to excorcise the feeling I had every day.

Helen, how are you coping with work and the kids? Do not know how you manage - house move too!

Sheila – it’s lovely to hear from you again. We all missed you last weekend. Good luck with your chemo tomorrow.

Carol – How’s Ozzy? I hope he manages a good sleep tonight. Are the boys still excited?

Annie – your poor wee cat, will it cope OK after its op?

Fiona – Have a lovely time with your niece.

Maggie – have you managed to get on the Younger Women’s conference?

Have had a quiet weekend, my mum came up on Saturday for the week. Work tomorrow 😞

Take care all

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Hi girls - back in circulation again, for a short time.
Just been trying to catch up with all your posts.
Thank you so much for your card. Got such a shock when they said I had a blot clot, though I did wonder. My face and neck were all swollen and a funny colour, but just thought it was because I had a cold. After xrays and ultra sounds confirmed clot, It has come from portacath. This is 2nd time - had one about 4 years ago from Hickman. Have to get blood thinning injection every day for 6 months. It's like Neulasta and goes into tummy so Fiona or Gerry can do it for me. I could learn to do it myself.
So sorry I missed the lunch as was really looking forward to catching up with everyone.
Fiona - you look good with hair coming in.
Annie - hope your wee cat OK. Sounds pretty awful.
Helen - what happened to you - gents toilet in Asda !!!
Sharon - are you an Auntie yet.
Carol - hope your managing with Ozzy.
Have had a nice week, chemo tomorrow. Dreading it but must keep going. When you know what is ahead of you, it just makes it worse.
Off to my sisters for dinner - having steaks for valentines. Don;t eat a lot of red meat so looking forward to it.
Take care everyone and hope to meet up again soon.

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Hi classy lassies

Sharon, any sign of the reluctant bump?

News on my wee cat. He has to have the lower part of his hind leg amputated, the set didn't take. He had the cast removed last afternoon and is much more mobile now. Surgery is march 9th, so no emergency. I am so ready for a weekend away, but this has put everything on hold. Hanging around all day yesterday in town, asleep by 10pm!

Hope you are all well and having a great Saturday. The weather has been great this week, however cold.

The Spanish week sound great, most reasonable too. I would love to go, but not sure of dates etc. Seeing Mr H. on 22/2 and Dr D on 25/2 (both consultants) Might know more afterwards.

Love

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Evening Everyone,

Hope you are all doing well? I'm bushed, lying on the sofa and not fit for much else!!!....Had a lovely day at work, Nice Clients and my first head shave!...I was more nervous than her. It brings it all back but she was so brave and took it all in her stride..It was good to see you Maggie and I'm sure you'll look great in your new wig..

I have been on a thread on the latest posts and I wanted to stick it up here incase none of you have seen it, I'm quite up for it....it looks quite good and I've been on the site to look at the hotel and it's gorgeous..prices are very reasonable..It might just be a case of go when all the others go and there are a lot of free dates..I would love to go May or Sept/Oct...No Kids..!! but then maybe I'm asking too much.....oooh but it's so tempting..xx

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Hi All

Well I think I've recovered from Saturday now - I'm such a lightweight, 3 glasses of wine and I end up in the men's toilets in Asda - lol!!! Thank god there was no one in them; I made a quick exit when it occurred to me that ladies don't have urinals ...oops!

Edinburgh sounds good, but where ever we go I'm sure we'll have a good time.

Fiona - I can't believe you finish your chemo in July - that seems like ages ago.

Maggie - good luck with the hat shopping, you've probably just got chemo brain; think it affects us all .

I hope everyone is OK

Hopefully see you all soon.

Yes Annie!!!...Im so sorry....I sure Ive got the beginning of altsheimerz (sp)...seriously..Im concerned about my brain 😞

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Afternoon All!!

Maggie.....I take it you mean Annie? and not Carol, took me three attempts at reading it before I could work out what's wrong! Not still the Champers surely?....Hee Hee! I will bring those hats I mentioned for you on Thursday, maybe you can get some use from them..

Just in from work and phoned Rosshall as I'd planned on visiting Sheila this afternoon, didn't get a chance yesterday.. They told me she's been discharged this morning so I've just missed her..I've texted Annie to see if she can get me her address and I'll pop the card in post..At least she's out so must be better which is the main thing..

Annie, I finished chemo in July, so it's taken a while for the hair to return...I only need a fringe now and I'll be happy..

Carol, good luck with the puppy..hope it all goes smooth and he's not yelping too much on the first night...get him a big cuddly teddy to snuggle into. I did that with my cat and she's still got him and still sleeps with it...and she's 8!!

Well I'm bushed after work...I did foil highlights, a tint and a perm..all in the one house but I wasn't able to do them all together last time, so it has just showed me how much more energy I have compared with 2 months ago..feel very pleased with myself..gonna need a very strong coffee now mind you to get me through the rest of today!! HaHa xx

Off to put the kettle on!!

Big Hugs

Oh Carol..you are having a time of it...! We all missed you at the lunch, hope you are feeling better, hope your wee cat gets better soon, it's amazing how quickly they bounce back.

A meet up in Edinburgh/or with the Edinburgh girls sounds like fun..this time I'll get a dog sitter as I was preoccupied on Saturday with leaving the dog for sooo long (catholic guilt ha ha). Carol not long before you get the puppy...you must be excited. Im just getting ready for my radiotherapy today..although getting a voluntary driver is great, it's very restricting, gonna drive myself at the end of the week..maybe come home via Braehead and get that blinking hat..the one I was intent on buying on Saturday ha ha.

Hope you are all feeling ok today...suns out xxxxxx

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Hi Guys

Sick that I couldn't make it on Sat. By the sound of it you had a blast.

Poor cat is so disorientated. He is restless and limping around endlessly with his stookie. Doesnt know what to do with himself. I was going to go away for a few days and take him down, but don't think the poor wee soul is up to it. Looks like he was clipped by a car.

Hope it's not gonnie be too long before we meet up, I feel blighted, there's always something ...

Congrats on the Chemo Sharon - what a girl. Are you tolerating Taxol ok? Better than the dreaded Tax I hope! Yea, the vet is Taylors, they used to have a practice in Stonelaw road in Rutherglen but that closed. They are great, I didn't know they had an EK branch. I'll get all of them registered there as it would be easier to get there.

Hope you are all well and enjoying this beautiful winter day. Spring is on it's way my dears, soon winter will be just a memory.

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Hi All

Shiela is at Ross Hall and I have no idea where it is, but Shiela says it's hellish far away - too far to get to by public transport. She sounds great, and on the mend.

Sharon, fingers crossed that you are up for chemo. Is Taxol more tolerable than Tax?

Fiona, how was your scan?

We didn't take Whisper to the vet's yesterday as he had eaten, so they couldn't aneathestise him and we wanted him to relax a bit... Poor guy cannot put weight on it. He is happy as anything now (even used the tray this morning) so we will take his this pm. Needs groomed anyway as he has some mats (I ususlly groom him but haven't been able with the stupid fingers ..)

Mexican sounds great too, haven't had it for ages. We are spoiled for choice in Glasgow for sure.

Need help getting the mog to Cathkin, my vet is very good, but the most expensive in the area and this is likely to be pricy. My sis's vet is excellent and about half the price of mine (Carol priced around when they were getting her wee kitten's boosters and neutering, otherwise I would have assumed that all vet's charge about the same) I would pay anything they asked, but we have got to be careful with cash just now.

Does anyone else see signs of spring? When it's not blizzards?

See you all tomorrow.

Enjoy the beginning of the weekend

Hi All
Annie – I’m so pleased your cat is home, how did you get on at the vets? Give Sheila a big hug from me, what a time she’s having.

Carol – Sorry to hear you were having hassle with an ex – when I saw you’d disappeared from my friends request I had a wee panic in case I’d offended you by declining you by mistake!

Sharon – I hope your chemo goes OK tomorrow.

Fiona – Take it easy. Although if you’re anything like me, you’ll hate that saying and will just ignore it!!

See you all Saturday

Please give Sheila my love when you see her.. she's having a fair share of trials lately..Is that Rosshall hospital she's in? that's 2 minutes from where I live....I'm working tomorrow or else I'd meet you and visit her..I'll send her a card..

I'm bushed after today in the shop...plan to get my feet up on the sofa...

Thanks Carol

So relieved, but the sweet old sap was in shock and pain, got him warmed and fed and he was purring like a machine. He's upstairs just now chillin' out of the way of his wee brother and sister. They never give him peace. Taking him to the vet's soon as sis arrives. Will take pic if h get a stookie!

Poor Shiela, she sounds chipper but God! SHe has been in the wars! Does anyone know her surname? Plan to pop in tomorrow2.

Spoke to Shiela - her surname is Leitch and she is at Ross Hall, Room 216. She sounds great wbut was pretty unwell.

Cannie believe it! The big cat is back. I think he might have broken his leg, limping badly but he's had some John West tuna. He's awfy quiet (he ever talks in his sleep, and walks round the house mumbling usually) Think he is in a state of shock, but he'll be tickity boo.

Vet first thing. Giddy with relief. Poor guy had had some kind of ordeal though. He is grounded for the rest of his life!!

Will let you know how Shiela is asap. Poor lass.

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Good morning girls

Another sleepless night lassies. Crazy, am knackered and cannie sleep! I am thinking of asking my doc for a short course of steroids to give me a kick start. I am so tired of being feeble. The Big Grey still not make an appearance alas and I worry he's lost and cold. Just watched 'Mo' starring Julie Walters. Superb and I'll admit to a wee greet at the end. Bloody cancer!!!!

Shiela text me, she is in hospital with blood clots in her face, neck and arm. I will take a wee trip uo to see her on Friday. Bloody Tax!!!!! How much more are we expected to endure guys. Even the notion of blood clots terrify me, they can be time bombs. My daddy was in hospital for 3 weeks while they dissolved a 3" thrombosis in his leg. We had just come back from burying his mum in Ireland and we thought we were going to lose him .... Shiela seems fine though. They are really laying on the chemo with her. Damn scary side effects. God, Tax is a toughie.

So looking forward to getting together in our wee survivors group. I am praying my old kitten is back then and Sharon will be an auntie. I am so excited about my wee Kerry now that the initial shock has worn off.I got loads of baby clothes in the Debenhams sale - 70% off!

I don't know when (or even if) I will be able to return to work. Mr M (the breast surgeon) thinks I'll be off for a year. I'll have to get a new job, but I have been offered a couple. But is anyone else' confidence shattered? If I am going to be off a while, I was considering getting a rescue greyhound. They are lovely gentle dogs and are great with cats and kids.

So a prayer for Shiela, Maggie and our Sharon and for all of us. Trying to catch a bit of shut eye ... I'll be a zombie tomorrow/

Hugs

Annie xx

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Hi Girls

Hows everyone, I’ve just caught up on the last weeks worth of posts and have realised just how much I’ve missed everyone !!!! After being stuck infront of a PC at work I think I’ve been avoiding it in the evenings at home.

Work is going fine, it feels like I’ve never been away!. I’m still really tired but aren’t sure if it’s post treatment related or just down to being a mum of 3 and staying up too late!. I was through at the hospital seeing the oncologist this afternoon as my underarm and back have been really painful, I spoke to the breast nurse for reassurance that it was just due to muscle strain – after maybe overdoing the lengths on the pool, going back to work, starting to Iron and loads more, but she insisted on me getting checked out by the oncologist, which was all a bit stressful, but everything seemed fine – thank god.

I’m really looking forward to Saturday – I’ll be great to see everyone and catch up. As we all seem to be coming it’ll probably be best if we book somewhere. What do you think?

Carol – Ozzy is a great name for your pup and it’s great the boys are so excited about it. Did I decline you on FB ? If I did, it really was a mistake, I went to approve you and you’d disappeared from my list.

Sharon – How are you feeling? Has your chest infection started to clear up? Any news about the baby? You must be so excited.

Maggie – your photo is fantastic, you look so glam. I thought it was lovely that your friend from South-end came to stay. Did you have a lovely time.

Sheila – Great news about your results - I’m really pleased for you.

Fiona – You sound like you’re doing great in the shop.

Annie – Has your cat returned? What a same you missed your trip to Blackpool

Yvonne – well down for finishing your rads – you’ve done great.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday.

Lots of Hugs

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Hi peeps

No sign of the Big Grey yet. We strongly suspect that the big sap has got himself shut in an shed/caller/hut as he is not the weeist bit adventurist. But by Christ, I have been sick with worry. I'm designing some leaflets as I type this to put through letter boxes locally. When he comes home he's grounded forever.

4 inches of snow this am!!!!!!! Mostly gone now. Never care if i see snow again. Ever.

Sharon hellish hot curry for mum to be. Tell baby to get a move on. I have 2 cousins due in April (Wee Kez haas just turned 20 ...) and I cannie WAIT. Wee Kez is in Blackpool - and Marie has had 8 miscarriages - we're Irish and she is the youngest of 14 ... so the excitment is mounting. My sister has been knitting non stop. It really is the best thing. I love being an auntie Sharon. You must be sooooooooooooo excited.

Sounds like our Fiona is fighting fit. Boy oh boy tho, what a schedule, work, shop, FECing hospital ...

Ok chappies. off to print off the flyers for the big old cat. I hope he isn't too cold. My wee Auntie Betty was in floods this morning with worry. Of all animals, he is the one you would have least concern about as he is never more than a handclap away.

See you all on Sat - I was supposed to be in Blackpool today. Just realised that's me lost my train fare!

Re: Anyone from East Kilbride/Glasgow area?

Hi Guys

So glad you enjoyed the shop Fee, I don't know how you do it. Where do you get the energy from? Need to get down to see Carol at Maggies. Been saying that for weeks but have not been up to it. Will try this week. Any of you girls popping in? Good luck for the scan results Fee.

Shiela, best news about your results. Boy though, 9 courses of Tax!! 4 nearly killed me, still got some residual s/e now 9 weeks later. How are you holding up and how is Euan? All better I hope.

Carol, great news about the pup. He will give you such a lot of joy and fun. Lots of piccies please. Just what you need to give yourself a boost.

Sharon are we cyber aunties yet? When do you start Taxol? They keep re-evaluating your treatment don't they? You are one of the bravest people I have met, and so strong. I am up for Herceptrin on the 1st, when are you back?

Maggie dear. Hope you are having a totally bearable time on this your last chemo - hurrah! Also hope you and your friend had a great weekend and thourghly enjoyed yourselves. How's Jack? Did you ask for morning appointments at the Beatson? Let me know if there is ANYTHING I can do to help during rads.

I have to see the doc as I have developed numbness in by back, caused no doubt by the fall. First it was agony - now it feels like I have been aneathesised. Very strange. I am getting strong B6 tabs to see if it helps with the nerve damage in my hands and feet. No change so far, but it can't hurt. I hate taking meds, really hate it as I always seem to get side effects, even from anti-biotics and pain killers. But I am getting so tired of all of these lingering irritants like no nails, numbness in my fingers and feet, tiredness (still cannie walk uphill!) Oh well ..

How is the hair regowth guys? I finally sprouted some hair, about half an inch now. Was convinved I was going to be baldy forever more. My eyelashes fell out again and are growing back in strange directions! Oh the joys!!! What the bloody treatments do to us, every day is an adventure! Quite funny really.

Hope you are all feeling great, not working too hard Helen and Fee !!! Be great to see you all on the 6th, finally!

Take care and good night girls
