Hi I did ended up in hospital for 9 days , neutropenic 0.1 , had transfusion and treated for meningitis , ended up with limited contact and the television was broken the whole 9 days , we can beat itn, my surgeon told me today that I am cancer free .xxxxx
Hope the hospital sorted out your sickness, I just replied to another post about this. I didnt get sick with the first cycle of EC just nausea, but got very violently sick with the cycle 2 and 3. WAs for the first two to three nights then was fine (no sickness) for the rest of the cycle.
ask your team about diet, dont eat too heavy in the evenings, i found that small and often worked for me, breakfast was and still is the best one for me,on chemo days i would eat very very light before hospital and would make sure i ate something just before they admistered my meds, i also found that that helped. im four weeks post chemo now.
There are apparently injections they can give you that will help the sickness and nausea, i did just let the sickness run its course, didnt really get nausea just very sick. apparently lots of ladies get the nausea but not the sickness. some people are just more sensitive to the medicine than others.
i dont know what your cycle 4,5,6 are but i had no sickness on those with docetaxel (taxotere). other side effects but no sickness!
They also adjusted the amount of steroids they gave me in hospital when we talked about sickness, one of the older ladies i spoke to gave me some great advice, the domperidone anti sickness meds, she said dont wait to feel ill, take it as a precautionary when you get home from hospital, i asked the nurses and they said you can take both pills they give you as they work differently. i took them for about the first 4/5 days through every cycle. The nurses also confirmed that if you wait to feel sick or nauseous its harder to suppress it.
Hope you are getting on better now. talk to your chemo team and see what they can do for you !
I started chemo end of October and the time has flown by, Ive kept my diet really healthy lots of green food, home made smoothies, not too much meat as i still have trouble digesting it, if you fancy something to eat have it, i did have fancies and i had what ever i wanted.
I watched funny films and tv to make me laugh, played music that i liked and took up drawing again because that made me happy, kept me positive.
The exhaustion doesnt go away, it gets a bit worse and for longer, im still tired !!!
Ive had three stops in hospital, two over night and one for a week with nutropenic scepsis, get through it the best you can, i also had a count down, not just of cycles but of how many weeks i had left and the closer you get the more confidence you get from it ! although my week in hospital was after my final cycle i knew i was at the end of the run. celebrate the good days, make the most of them and just get through the bad ones best you can.
good luck with the rest of your treatment, let me know how you get on
Sorry you haven't had any replies as yet but hopefully someone will now see your question. I hope you soon start to feel better.
