Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Hi Debbie
Will look you up next time we are there!!
Well had news that no further cells found after mx - that is good news apparently however the mood i am in today I just feel I had bloody painful recon op taken out for no reason and now have to go through it all over again. Had saline expander inflated half way today that will be 'uncomfortable' ummmm am feeling at best in 'agony' so have phoned surgery for strong pain killers. Am grumpy grumpy cow today. And have abandoned idea of strappy dress for ball one sack for dress and box to go over my head as no more highlights to improve chances with cold cap - oh yes grumpy grumpy cow!! I hope you are all feeling ok though and in much better mood than me!!! Sorry this is a bit of a rant and an I feel sorry for myself post - will be in better mood tomorrow I'm sure!

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Sue get yourself on that look good feel good session - you get all the products including a good eyebrow pencil! Have just managed to hang onto a few brows and lashes but hope they will return soon - they show you how to fill em in etc without looking startled (LOL) cos I am pretty useless at all that stuff. It takes me about 3 goes but I manage to not look like Gary Glitter at the end of it - god forbid. I too am getting fatter and fatter - cant stop eating! Ho hum as if we havent got enough on our plates eh? Picked up the prescription for Tamoxifen today - start it next week - the side effects can be a bit nasty I have researched and you can get se's like emdimitriosis GREAT! Will have to see how I get on ! take care all debbie x

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Debbie- SE same as before i guess, no worse. Was tired from drivng to nottingham and the wedding so felt bit rubbsh but it was worth it. The dres drama amused me- angered my hubbie as he is finding chemo brain a pain as he has no memory and relies on me!! Not anymore!!
Suz- two more huh? Not too much longer thankfully. My taste not affected but thwe urge to snack is. Put on 10 pounds since april..think miseray and steroids to blame! Will join old slimming world once over tho as that works a treat!
Denise hope recoveryu going well still and your enjoying the norfolk heat! phew too hot for me altho being bald headed is pretty cool!

Hi all, hope all ok. Got the dizzzy head back today but nearly there! Hoping to be back to normal tomorrow to make the most of the weather and get to the beach - Dont think I can face the crowds of Cromer Carnival and red arrows tho - we have been the last few years so I think Joe can forego it this year! brows and lashes nearly gone but hope they come back soon. How are your SE's this time Sue?? Hope you enjoyed the wedding despite the drama's - chemo brain is alive and kicking eh? Have a good day everyone, xdebbiex

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Hi Everyone, hope you're all okay and had a good weekend?
Debbie - Congrats tht chemo is over bet its a great feeling - only 2 more for me then i'll be joining your club!!
Sue - Glad the wedding went well despite the dress disaster!! I'm just like you and forget so much at the moment - its really rubbish having chemo brain - hubby hopes it will improve after chemo finishes as he thiks i'm a complete nightmare at the moment!!
Denise - once you start down the chemo route it surprising how quickly it goes . Today is four months since i had my mastec and it seems such a long time ago now. Once you start, the 3 week cycle and get into a routine it flyes by!
I'm over the awful mouth now which is good, i don't think i could have put up with that for longer than a week. Still can't taste anything properly which is a pain, but good for the diet which i started today! Got to try and do something to get rid of this weight - put on a stone in 4 months and am sure its the steriods - so back to aerobic classes and being really good - need to loose some before my 1st wedding anniversary in 6 weeks!!

Was good to see you too deebbie. Nurse said to me my bloods looked lieks somone not on chemo!! Ha!
Se were ok at wedding. my memory wasnt and i forgot my dress leading to a mad dash to find a shop and ending up in the ruffest asda ever! Any dress would do and i found quite a nice one and £18...doubt hubbie will forgive the last minute dash about tho. V stressful and only arrived 10 mins befpre wedding kick off. forgot a whole lot of stuff and hate chemo doing this to me. i am so organised and now i am a big bald veg brain! thanks chemo! anyway i found it vaguely amusing as its hardly a big dealin the scale of things huh?
Debbie you should have hair by christmas! am so jealous. i hate the big bald look !
Denise hope you are recovering still and not suffering too much pain wise.

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Hi girls, nice to see you on Thursday Sue, you are looking very well - hope you get thru the wedding without the SE's kicking in! Well as you know it was my last chemo and the feeling is great. Met with my ONC and he put my mind at rest on lots of things - start the Tamoxifen in 2/3 weeks, wont be having radiotherapy in case I get any more spread in the bones as that can be used to treat them - he reckons the bones are now priority so I am happy with that. He doesnt want to see me until November which is fantastic having that break - after that will prob have scans to make sure the bone spread is contained etc so all in all I am pretty happy with everything. Just get through the next few days of SE's and should start returning to normal - yeah I want my hair back - maybe christmas will see a covering ?? Mind you its looking so grey I could be mistaken for Santa LOL - hope everyone is doing good, keep in touch, debbiex

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Hi all, Denise the anticipation is much worse than the actual event. Once you know the date of your first chemo you can mentally prepare and the actual procedure is better than I imagined. I promise you will feel better about it once its under way!

Sue it does come round quick but at least that means the treatments are getting ticked off - I am just hoping the ONC doesnt want me to have any more for the bones - that's my biggest fear at the mo as its such a buzz to say its my last chemo! Will find out soon I guess! See you tomorrow x

Well first appt with onc is through for 25 aug. Oh it all seems horribly real now. Pooh! I think i may have to be dragged kicking and screaming into this. Hope you all get on ok with next chemo, and Debbie your last - hurray! if any of you are there when I come in I will be the one whose husband is dragging her by the ankles!!! Im assuming this appt will just be for details and then will get booked onto regime so might just get to the end of the summer hols.

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Hi girls, nice to hear from you Suz, sorry to hear your mouth is sore. The chemo unit give me a good mouth wash which has really helped me - you can ask gp to prescribe it too - its called Difflam oral rinse, I use it after brushing and not had any problems since the first chemo. Sounds like the herceptin will be ok to manage - I hit the tamoxifen soon so will have to see how that goes! Have a lovely couple of days , weather permitting, its chucking it down at the moment! Bye 4 now, debbie x

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Hi All,
Debbie/Sue good luck for Thursday and how lucky that its your last Debbie!! Time soon goes when you look back, must seem ages now since your 1st one?
I'm slowly on the mend but have felt really wrotten the last few days, think its more to do with the chemo than the Herceptin - Have had such a disgusting mouth and so sore i couldn;'t eat anything so went to the hosp today just to check this was normal and it is! Think my body doesn't like these type of chemo drugs but will just have to grin & bear it as only 2 more to go. Herceptin s/e are now ok - don't ache anymore and flu like sysmptons only loast a day - just hope i don't have them each time i have Herceptin.
Hubby got this week off & went to Oxburgh Hall today which was lovely as weather so nice - going to Southwold on Thursday but will be thinking about you ladies.

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Hiya, just be careful re the swine flu Sue, especially after this weeks chemo as we are so open to anything!! You are right about consultants being different - I liked mine to start as he is very amiable but I have heard Dr Harnett is the best there - he actually contributes to the "NICE" guidelines and is v experienced - will ask to see him if I am not happy after Thursday's "chat" with my ONC. Do you have much contact with your bc nurse?? Mine has been great in providing that bridge between me and the onc with my queries - chat to her about the 8 chemo's she may be able to put your mind at rest as to why you are due 8 ?? My ex is taking me to this weeks session and Joe will be with us too tho they take off and have breakfast as soon as we arrive so dont know if you will get to meet Joe! (Not bothered about the ex lol) Have a good day all, love debbie x

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Hello - I am 10am on Thursday too Sue so see you there! Its really good knowing its my last one - just hope the ONC doesnt want me to have more for the bone mets - it's a possibility but cant even think about it as I am focusing on it being the last chemo EVER ! There's some positive thinking for ya! As he is coming to chat to me I will know my fate sooner rather than later I reckon.

Hope you are ok Denise - let us know when you have to start the ol chemo treadmill (x) we are here for you, you know. How are you doing Suz - let us know how the herceptin is going (x).

Had a good day - blitzed Joe's bedroom today - was a bit ashamed as to how much dirt/wrappers/cars/blue tac/pens/coins can accumulate under a bed! So glad its all done, even inched out some old toys without him knowing - if you do it when they are there they always reckon something they havent touched for months is now their favourite toy! Speak soon, love xdebbeix

Hi girls
All ok here - Happy belated birthday to Gracie bet your still scraping jelly off the walls!!
Recovering ok been nagging to get chemo started and should have appt within two days of surgeon sign off. Went to a funeral yesterday poor guy was only 36 and felt really off and tearful all day which I knew would happen. I would probably have felt worse if I hadnt gone but have renewed determination to grab life by the scruff of the neck today.
Does seem a bit mean to give you eight Sue.
Anyway off to embrace life - and hang out the washing!

Hi girlies, Suz hope you are ok - sounds a rotten reaction to the herceptin - thought that was a tablet (like tamoxifen) but obviously not - you just never know how you are going to react eh?? I start Tamoxifen in few weeks and hope I dont react badly.

Its been great today eh ? Been to beach with Joe, mum sis and niece and had a lovely time - got a bit of sun despite covering myself in factor 30 but am ok - been on the wine too and feel human ! Hope you are still recovering well Denise - not heard too much from you or Liz - Liz, you can post anytime, we are always here to listen! Enjoy rest of weekend, speak soon, xdebbiex

Hi All,
Sue - hope Gracie had a lovely 1st birthday party ?
Oh what a day i've had!! Had 1st lot of Herceptin yesterday and think its the devil drug as reacted badly to it last night. Hubby had to cal the hosp at 1.30 this morning as had temp of 39 and was so shivery and achey. Lucky didn't have to go to hosp as was afraid of that and just had to take paracetmol and have felt okay today just achey/fluey and no energy. I've got 17 more Herceptin's so hope i don't react like that each time - yuk!
Hope the rest of you are having a better time of it at the moment!

Hi Girls,
Am okay and chemo went fine but seemed to be up there for hours. Feel really hot, but can't decide if its the weather or the chemo!! Got to go up there again this afternoon to start Herceptin which tye can't give you the 1st one at the same times as chemo as they need to check for any reactions, but the 2nd Herceptin will be the same time as chemo 5 which will be better. You get so fed up of keep going to the hosptial - even though i know its for my own good!!
Glad wedding went well Sue and and that you are okay Denisre after Opp. Hope all well with you too Debbie and Liz you're enjoying your holiday.

I got a call from the secretary of my ONC today - I wasnt due to see him til 24th Sept which is nearly 6 weeks after last chemo - she has arranged for him to come and talk to me next wk when they are giving me the chemo so I can put all my questions to him. I have quite a few queries that I want to straighten out so am gonna write them all down and get him to go thru everything - will let you know how it goes!! Been out and about with my friend and her boys today - right shattered now as i cooked for everyone tonight - doing it all again tomorrow so nite nite all - ps Cromer is still heaving with Ladybirds!

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Hiya,
Liz the newby here, I was diagnosed last Wednesday and had a very stressy week waiting for results from my biopsy. I have to say that I feel relieved as I now know what I am dealing with and it wasn't as bad as I had thought so feel very lucky in a perverse way!
I have a stage 2 cancer which is confined at present to the breast. I have to wait until 21st August until my op to remove lump and lymph nodes, there is a back log and a long wait (everyone on holiday I think) Radiotherapy and hormone therapy follow not sure if chemo needed they said it would be reviewed.
I don't feel as though I have cancer at all at the moment and feel a bit of a fraud but sure will feel different when I have op and treatment.
I am off on my hols next week so really looking forward to a break.
Denise I hope you op goes well, thinking of you all.
Best wishes

Hi
Very cute seals - really nice day. Would be lovely trip for kids Sue but i dont think I would have attempted it when mine were the ages yours are. They would would have been man overboard in about 30 seconds!!!They were very wriggly! Glad you are feeling better today. I looked on the internet and there is a place in Wymondham that does false eyelashes for chemo ladies - must be super dooper glue! - they are suppposed to be semi permanent cant quite work out how but willing to try anything.

Debbie definately would ask BCN about rads - am going to doctors tomorrow with Molly so am going to ask about this whole face thing I have going on - I'm so paranoid I just hope it is stress and not something more sinister.

Hope everyone else is ok.

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Definately something in the water - have been stresssed and tearful and like you say Debbie p****d of pretending everything is fine. And that smile that people give you - kind of half a smile a bit of a shrug and a blink. ARRRGHH!

In my head I am already making plans to hibernate for the winter. When I do go out I seem to get really bad stress symptoms especially if I meet someone who doesnt know. Had really bad tingly face and convinced it was something worse - brain being the only bit they havent scanned - but doctor and BCN think it is just stress. I hope their b****y right.
Anyway off to face Norwich now - will cheer myself up by buying something lovely! Husbands birthday so buying him a great big chocolate cake.
