Debbie i feel the same! I have started to hate my wig as feel fake wearing it as if nothing is wrong! It does look good but its not mine and today i just wore my headscarf into the city and actuslly felt better with that on. ~I had a fab night in wioth the girls last week withtakeaway and a chat and that was much better than going out. Dont really feel that sociable~!
I could cope fine with the chemo if it didnt make your hair fall out and if the steroids didnt fill you with water!! I feel a right old heffa!
Boooo.
anyway not got girls tomorrow so going to veg out!
Hi girls, must be something in the water, I am really tearful and down too. Felt well rotten yesterday but dragged myself out last night to meet up with family as my eldest nephew was up for a visit and I havent seen him for ages. We met up in a pub and I drove as I knew I wasnt gonna be drinking and everyone except me and my little one were pi**ed - felt right out of it. I just wanted my own hair back and to get rid of the false smile - I appreciate em saying the wig looks real but IT AINT! Oh well, feel lot better today, just tired, Debs is right, lets be positive, love to all, xdebbiex
Sue, i feel exactly the same!! Had a few tears in the bath the other night as i looked like a beached whale!! a bald one at that!!
I was also in denial, still am sometimes then i see myself in the mirror or a window!! or even worse get a piying smile from someone!
Lets all try to be in postive mode!!
love Debs xxxx
Denise i was in denial right up until they put the chemo in! No harm in that. We got takeawayed out too!
Had a truly miserable day yesterday. Felt so sad as hair is falling out so mangey like and i am bald on top but stubble round the sides like a bloke! Bloated from steroids too so was a mess! Going to try to get anoher wig as mine is nice but not practical as too long and the baby pulls it.
Family wedding up north on friday so travelling up thursday. Evie is flower gilr and gracie is walking now so she can trot up the ailse too. I am so proud as they will look lovely.unlike me who is bald and bloated! Stupid cancer.
Anyway, happy thoughts! I promised by hubbie!!!
Debbie hope you are ok with number 5. Wish i was that far through!
Suz hope you ok too. Another dose coming up isnt it?

And clearly losing my faculties as hadnt finished that post!!!!!!!!
Also feel that I am in denial but have decided that my head will catch up eventually when it needs to - it really is one day at a time at the moment. Everyone on here is very friendly though and it does help a great deal. Off now to see if I can get my head round cooking a meal as we are all take awayed out in this house!!!

Hi all and Hi Liz - have been getting my full quota of sunshine before either it rains or I start chemo - I'm thinking it will rain first.
Have had two flypasts by the red arrows this week really low over garden - first time I thought I might get carted back in with heart attack!!!
ive been ok debbie.sickness worse but manageable! tired more too.fell asleep randomly this afternoon! didnt even mean to!
have good weekend ladies

Hi Liz, you are very welcome but sorry you have to join us. My lump was a grade 3 and 1.7mm and was in 3 lymph nodes - coped ok with 2 ops - 1 to remove lump then had to back for wider margins which were clear. Then got a lot of pain in ribs so they did a bone scan and found 4/5 hot spots in the bones called secondary breast cancer - its where the breast cancer cells have travelled and settled there - that was devestating for me but I was already on the chemo and although its not curable (the secondaries) its controllable - then had CT scan to check organs but they were ok THANK GOD. I have jsut had 5th chemo with one left and doing fine - I have worked thru it all and felt ok on the whole.
I got my diagnosis same day as mamo and biopsy and had op really quickly - once confirmed you just want to get on with it. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We all support each other and give help and advice as we go along this rotten journey.
Take care and good luck next week lotsa love Debbie x
Sue hope you doing ok - felt bit sick today but coping!!!
Liz i was in denial till i started chemo! i cried and cried a few days beforehand as it became real! I was told my lump of 9mths was a fibroadenoma but it wasnt. it was grade 3, 2.0cm cancer. the consultant was really surprised and as was i seeing as i went alone fo results as had no reason to suspect a positive test! so one pointer- dopnt go alone!Lymphs w3ere clear tho which is very rare at my age so that was good!
We're a good bunch on here. Denise is yet to start chemo and ive had 2 doses now and dont feel too bad. bald but not too ill! Debbie is the expert i reakon! I live in Taverham.
Anyway, welcome and ask away. Stay in denial i say as it makes life nicer and you dont stress and make yourself ill until everything is planned out step by step then you can deal with it. Knowledge is power but only to a point!!!

Hi,
Norfolk ladies You all seem to have been talking for ages, can I join in? I was told Wednesday that I have BC at N&N still in a bit of shock it doesn't feel that it's happening to me yet, I go back next Wednesday to get my treatment plan.
I found a lump about eight weeks ago went to GP after a couple of weeks waited a month and then was seen within ten days.
I had a mammogram followed by an ultrasound and a biopsy, at the end of the morning I was told I had a cancer in my right breast, I was told that the biopsy would confirm this diagnosis, I am worried they could have made a mistake how can they tell it's not a fibroadenoma or benign lump?
Reading this it sounds like I am in denial,(probably true!)I would like to know how they were so sure. Any advice on this one?
I live in Eaton Norwich and work In Yarmouth. It's a relief to be able to talk to other people in the same situation.
Liz
Sue, I felt worse after no 2! but still able to eat!!!hope you are ok today!
Debbie, no 5 nearly there then well done!!
whereabouts are you both in Norfolk? We stayed in Pulham Market, went to great Yarmouth, Wroxham, got a boat out! and went to South Wold(Suffolk I know but we were told its lovely)drove through various villages and towns, was a good break before no 3!
love debs xx
Debbie hubby saw you! but told me and youd gone! it was ok but she put it in really fast and i feel iller than last time. trying to eat my way through it! Got Ondansetron to take instead of steroids or as well as. nurse said to reduce steroids to try to stop crash.
Debs norfolk is great!
Denise hope you ok?
Suz-you too
gonna watch embarassing illnesses now! Fab programme
X
Glad you enjoyed your stay Debs, having been here only 7 years I really appreciate it and try to make the most of being near a gorgeous beach (weather permitting!). I know a mum from my boy's school who was born here and has never taken her kids down to the nearest beach - thats like living in essex and not going to Lakeside! LOL
Just getting over blast no.5 had a little sleep this afternoon and feel a bit livelier - I did see you come in Sue but I was in the little bit straight thru the doors and after I had finished I looked for you and you were right down the end and were chatting away so I didnt disturb you. Joe came today and was fine - he thought with each syringe of chemo they were going to put a big needle in me so was glad to see the procedure. The nurse found a vein quite easily today and the next blast is my last so lots to be thankful for. Hope you feel ok sue love to all, debbiex
Just got back from Norfolk, what a lovely place you live in girls!! hope you are all ok, love Debs xxxx
Suz my ONC said really the cancer is gone after your op and the chemo just mops up any stray cells. i had bloods to determine if any tumour markers whihc were clear thankfully. I assume you have yearly mammograms tho once all treatment ended? ive got to have radio and tamoxifen. dont know my HER status.
anyway chemo 2 down. Got hideous pins and needles in bum again from IV steroids so thats a joy. thank god that doesnt last!!!
anyway
gotta eat
XX
Hi all,
Hope you get on okay today ladies with chemo and hope your cold gets better soon Sue.
I had meeting with oncologist yesterday to find out whats next for me after chemo and i've got to have the whole lot which was shocked about to start with. Got to have Herceptin for a year - same as chemo, every 3 weeks, through a cancula as what i've got is apparently aggresive. Got to also have Radiotherapy and then Tamoxifen for 5 years. I suppose i had been hoping that after chemo that would be that and could get on with my life, but oh no more treatment for me - yippee!! Asked the oncologist when i'd have more scans and he said i wouldn't and they keep an eye on me through blood tests and from self examanation which i was surprised about. So asked him when would give me the all clear and he said i was now and i was in remission! Was so gobsmacked, as thought i'd hav some tests or something first rather than just being told. Bit of a weird feeling really knowing i now haven't got BC, but suppose all the treatment you're given is to prevent it coming back. Do all of you feel the same too?
Suzanne x
Bloods good so FEC it is! Still got cold but no worse. No temp so off we go again!
Denise- glad you feeling brighter despite stupid period!
Suz hope you good too.
lots love ladies
S
Good luck for tomorrow ladies - feeling bit brighter today - period started which goes someway to explaining yesterdays black mood. Forgot all about those!!!
Denise x
Hi all - Sue as long as your temp is normal (which they dont take unless you ask them to) you should still go ahead - the unit will prob ring you today to ask how you are - I often get a sore throat for a day then it goes so touch wood you will be better for Thursday.
At the pampering thing yesterday, many of us sat there with scarves and wigs on to start with, but its hard to cleanse your face etc so they gradually came off, and it was fine - me and Suz were the youngest two there - and Suz was youngest by far! The ladies who run it are smashing and helpful but its a personal thing and I understand what you mean cos I feel like a big arrow is pointing at me when I go out in the scarf saying cancer victim and I hate it - see how you feel as you go along - it just something nice to do for you x
Weather looking better today and I am going to sit in a dark cinema!
love to all, debbiex
Debbie id like to do it but i am still a bit weird about meeting others with cancer! silly i know.
Denise we all have those days. Ive had surprisingly less of them now chemo has started as already the end is in my sights.
Suz glad pampering day was good and hiope you went on the razzle!
Thursday is approaching and i have a cold. Will they still do it? ive not got a temp. just sore throat and runny nose.
take care ladies
X
Hello, really enjoyed the pampering session this morning - really nice to meet you Suzanne, shame my new look got wasted on ASDA shoppers! Sue n Denise - book onto it if you can - it was a lovely experience and really good quality products are given to you - well worth it.
Hope everyone ok, only 2 more days til next blast sue - going to see Harry Potter tomorrow as may not feel like it after chemo,
Hope you are feeling better Denise, indulge yourself at every opportunity, thats what I say ! bye 4 now debbiex
Hi all
Pampering session sounds good, must have try at that. Have hit rock bottom today feel like I am behind a glass wall and everything I want to get to is on the other side - just one of those days. Early night and a couple of sleeping tablets on the cards I think.
Denise x
Hi all,
It was lovely to meet up with you today Debbie at our Look Good session and we certainly looked good after our pampering!! I met Mum afterwards and she said how lovely the makeup looked and was so surprised at how many products and makeup we were given. We were certainly spoiled and the perfume smells lovely too. Denise and Sue make sure you definately book yourself onto this as it was a lovely morning being spoilt. Gonna try and get hubbie to take me out tonight now as feel really happy!
Hope you are all getting on okay with treatments and s/e's not too bad.
Suz xx
Hi all
Yeah just want to get on with it now - perpare yourselves for the heatwave that will take place that weekend and the two weeks of piddling rain that will be before it!
Prepared for op on Saturday in stylish fashion - walked round back of Blicking lake with bottle or two of Prosecco listened to Bananarama - not good! followed by Marc Almond doing a passable impression of Tainted Love and got totally bloody trollied. Had banging headache Sunday and felt ever so slightly sick so in way more of a prep for the chemo! Silly girl!!!
Sue - and heres a sentence I never thought I would say to another woman - you do seem to have a lovely shaped head - I bet mine will look like a bloody acorn. Am having two weeks now with my youngest two as eldest has gone on holiday, and desperately trying to think how to entertain a 13yr old girl and an 8 yr old boy at the same time. So Harry Potter it is then!!
Denise x
Sue - its called chemo brain - I do the daftest things - was picking phone up at work and saying thankyou, poured hot water on the container with all the tea bags in instead of the cup with just one in etc etc dont worry i am told it passes xx
Thank you debbie. My mate asked me today " is your head nobbly under that head scarf?!" And i said mind you own!
I seem to be permanently setting fire to things in my kitchen at the moment. i have no memory at all! Just filled the house with smoke again tonight- not good with two asthmatics in the house. starting to really piss me off and i assume its chemo related as i was fine beforehand.
Enjoy your pampering day debbie and Suz!
Denise- i agree with debbie sooner the op is over the better.
Take care
S
hi all - Sue you look lovely - You have a nice head - mine is large - I look more like Matt Lucas ! My chemo is at 10am so I paths might cross again especially if they are running late.
Suz - hope you are ok - are you still going pampering tomorrow?? you will have to wave at me as you have seen my picture - I dont have a clue what you look like!
My ex had to go to Yarmouth this afternoon, so grabbed a lift and did a bit of shopping for holiday today - got Joe some clothes he actually said he will wear (if I choose something without him he instantly hates it) and got myself some bits n pieces - now i am knackered again but have a pile of ironing to get thru tonight!
Denise - hope you are ok, getting ready for op no doubt, better its brought forward than put back as you can get on with everything a bit sooner eh?
Have a nice evening everyone xxdebbiexx
Hey Debbie i sat in the car today with nothing on my head but evie shouted "hat mama" so i put my scarf back on! i miss my hair already tho..Hubbie said i look pretty and i must admit my eyes look huge! So silver lining time..keep forgetting i have no hair till i touch my head.My mum will freak tho.
Got chemo at 11 this time. Bloody bloods tomorrow too. Boo.
Hope everyone else ok. Weather sucks tho huh??
X
Aww Sue, it will be better now its gone - having said that, I had a few G&T's last night on our trip down to essex - was in the ladies with a few of the girls and whipped wig off to show them and burst into tears - put it down to the gin! Got loads of nice comments on how well I looked and how natural the wig looked but really want my own hair back! Its daft really in the scheme of things but only natural I suppose - didnt wear it in the car for the long journey and almost went in Asda's without it as we came thruNorwich - ALMOST - phew! Having bloods taken tomorrow ready for chemo on Thursday - its come round quick eh Sue - what time you there??
hope everyone ok, speak soon, Debbie xx
DEED done. Hair was falling in my dinner and girls pulling it out of their mouths. I look weird but have a nice shaped head at least!
Head scarf on and husband dispatched to shop for wine and chocolate. Few tears and onwards and upwards! Certsinly now bloody going back now!"!!!!!

Debs i think the shave will happen this weekedn. not sure if i can handle it falling out everywhere! That saying i have very thick hair and despite whats fallen out it still looks fine. So far!
Potter film very good. Bit long tho.
Denise- the weather truly does suck! Not very kiddy friendly at all.
Glad not too long till the Op. My sister in laws wedding is on 31st! My Evie is flower girl! Ahhhh
Have good weekend ladies . Suz hope you ok too.
S
Debbie - have a great weekend down south.
Op moved forward to 31st July now - my con is Mr Hussein and he is really good - he told the BCN he just felt really bad about the second op. Ahh thats men for you! I had heard the cap wasnt that successful but the BCN said it was between 50 and 80% effective. Sounds a bit on the optimistic side it didnt work for a friend of mine either. Have had the short pre chemo cut early so getting used to it now. Sue, think that I will also freak when it comes out though.
Hailstones and thunder now- here comes the summer!
Denise x
Hi girls, glad everyone is ok.
Denise, I tried the cold cap for the 1st chemo - it was really bearable - it just didnt work for me! It can depend on the type of chemo they give you - sounds like most of us get the FEC to start with at least, so if thats what they give you, its up to you whether you give it a go - my hair was gone by the 2nd lot so you soon know! Is your consultant a Mr Peley by any chance?? I had a run in with him about my 2nd op and the BCN stepped in - funny if it is eh?
Sue, you will freak about the hair - I did big time. but it does pass - and you feel better once its shaved off- honest! I saw someone today who asked if I had had my hair cut shorter ready for when it comes out so the wig must look half ok eh?
Off to London tomorrow for a family do which means I can call in on my best friend of 40+ years on Sunday to wish her a happy birthday - she will be a bit surprised as she doesnt know I am down.
Might try and see the potter film next week now that school is out - Joe loves it, will give me a chance to have a snooze - LOL the longer I stay awake in the cinema, the better the film must be so I might make it all the way thru take care - see you Tuesday Suz, love debbie xx
Hi Hope you are all ok - no b****y broadband for 4 days- nice man just mended it. Went to N&N yesterday next op scheduled for 10 Aug and have been promised a quick start to chemo after that. Was feeling ok but consultant was really abrupt today so left feeling a bit all over the place after the BCN did her best to repair the damage.
Debbie looking forward to seeing Connies little boy imagine he is very cute.
Suz glad your chemo went ok this time.
Hope we all manage to avoid the piggy flu - Aylsham is getting so paranoid about it I think they will soon start naming and shaming!
Did any of you try the cold cap by the way.
Denise x
Hey norfolk ladies! Spoken to few of my nursey midwife friends and think i will try a staged drop off the steroids to avoid the crash! Worth a try as we are given them mainly to help nausea and appetite and i found the domperidone worked great.
Hair falling out now. thought id be cool about it but turns out i am freaking out a little bit! Not washed hair today as i have a party tomorrow and i want my hair! If it is still mega shedding on sunday i am going to shave it off! Make it my decision to loose it not chemos!
anyway. been a good week. saw harry potter wednesday which was fab. Girls been good altho had a battled getting eve to bed last night which i lost..im not proud!
Take care everyone!
S
Hi all,
Sue, not 100% sure why we get steroids - thought it was to boost system to help with appetite and energy etc (dont need help with appetite meself lol)just polished off Joe's leftover dinner.
Glad your chemo went well this time Suz - cant believe how quick it comes around - hope you feel as well as you can with the SE's - take it really easy.
Hope you are ok Denise, not sure when your next procedure or treatment is - keep in touch with us.
Well, nice lazy evening planned, can go to Joes sports day tomorrow as I am off work and do some work in the afternoon from home ; lush
Take care all, xdebbiex
Hi ladies,
It was chemo no 3 this is morning - i was in and out in hour an half with no problems or complications!! How happy was i after the last 2 times!! Had the deputy sister Vicky and she was brilliant. Was really apprensive after the last time but the nurse who did it last time was not working today so at least there was no chance of me having here again!!
Hope you are all doing okay and had a good weekend.
Am looking forward to the session next Tues Debbie, will be good to meet up and get our goodie bag!
lol Suz xx
Hey Debbie! my hubbie cooked for me last night! A rare treat and we stuffed ourselves and fell asleep. Very cutting edge!
Id like anti bios next chemo round as goig to massive family wedding up north and am worried about opeoples germs! May wear a mask!
Do you know why we get steroids? Ive had a bad reaction to them according to the nurse when i told her about my SE thjis week and dont really want them again! Will have to sound them out.
Denise hope you had good weekend.
Suz same to you!
lots love
S
Hi girls hope all ok
Sue, no idea why I get anti biotics and you dont - prob cos you are young and fit and i aint LOL
Went out for a drink with my brother and sister last night - wow it was kicking in Mundesley NOT - left early and got a chinese - much more civilised
Just cooked Sunday lunch for 5 and am now knackered.
Denise - Connie popped in with new baby earlier - he is scrummy and gorgeous and is doing really well.
Looking forward to pampering session next wk Suz - have to decide how we will know each other beforehand laters xdebbiex
Am on the case, daughter out surfing with some kids that go to Holt, if true she could be in a tent in the garden in the peeing rain. Well I never - how irresponsible!!
Have just sneezed - OMG.!!!
D x
Ooooh Debbie thats a bit of scandalous gossip! So glad you had no contact.
I went to soft play-lasted an hour when i felt so physically tired i had to go. I couldnt finish feeding the baby it was so bad. going to gp tomorrow as it feels ike a hypo-low blood sugar as if i eat something i feel better..weird. otherwise i am totslly normal after chemo! we have all go the lurgy now tho.
eve coughing upstairs as we speak.
darn it!
hope its not piggy flu.
Denise after all this cancer lark we are all hard core altho the dentist still scares the bejesus out of me!
Hey Suz- hows your poorly hand?
S
Hope you are all feeling a bit better today.
Debbie I've sent you a pm - Small world!
Wish the sun would shine - it's meant to be summer.
Off to the dentist tomorrow - suddenly it doesn't bother me as much as it used to!!
Denise x
hi all.
Sue I really do feel for you having such young girls - at least Joe can make me the occasional cup of tea!
Well, went into work today feeling back to normal and ready to tackle anything when a parent rang in to say they had swine flu but had sent their child to school (its a special needs school and kids get bussed in from all over)- rang the weybourne unit who told me to leave immediately even tho i have not had any contact with parent or child and thats me til September - ooh what a shame! I know there is only a week of term left but I have left my colleague in the lurch! oops. Took some work home but its weird to think the chemo will be over by the time i go back to work - brilliant. Just have to be a lady of leisure. Evidently swine flu is rife in Yarmouth where this family live but schools are keeping it pretty quiet - that posh school in Holt is also rife but if they close the school they have to refund fees so I've heard so again have kept a lid on it - could just be a nasty rumour tho - so thats me for now - keep well everyone, love debbie xx
Ladies still feel poo but no worse. Fatigue goes if i lay down! not very practical if i am out! will rest next few days and let poor grandma get frazzled by the demanding ones" How do people do chemo with babies? Its so so hard.
Braving soft play tpday with mum as my servant so i can sit and drink tea and chat to my mate whislt she chases the girls! p[oor woman.
lots love
S
Hi girls
Really brilliant news on the bone scan Denise - tick that one off!
Sorry to hear bout your hand Suz - that sounds rotten - hope they sorted something for it today x
Sorry you are feeling rough Sue - I am having dizzy spells - first time I've had them - take it easy if you can - it will pass
Love to all debbie x
Ah ladies i have my husbands bug. Feel totally floored. Effort to eat or move. Not a bad cold at all but just total fatigue. Eldest daughter got it too but they have both gone to grandmas today thank god!
Sucks sucks sucks
Hope your hand gets better Suz. Am pleased she didnt attempt to cannulate me! Phew.
Denise-good news on scan. one step closer
S
Hope you are all feeling ok today. Just had news that bone scan was clear - very relieved, seeing surgeon next week so things progressing.
Sue hope the tiredness is better today - with two small children that must be really difficult. Will loan my older ones out for shopping and housework! Should probably tell them first though and beware just took one to do the weekly shop and it cost nearly twice as much as usual!!
Denise x
Hi ladies,
Glad you're not too bad, hope the s/e's are not getting worse and the tiredness is manageable?
Debbie - fantstic that you're on the look good session at the big cf on the 21st - thats the same one as me, so will see you there. Am looing forward to that and our goodie bag full of makeup!!
I'm up at the big c this morning for a relaxtion group, hopefully that will then help me on Monday for chemo no3.
I thought my hand was getting better after the nurses butchered me after my loast chemo, but hand is now really puffy and swollen, so think whilst i'm up the hospital today will ask them about it. It hasn't gone black, but don't want it to otherwise it will then be really nasty to sort out!
Take care all
Suaz xx
Debbie hey there!
MY GOD The fatigue today made it even hard to feed myself. Ive had to lay down loads and felt dizzy and crap all day!
Feel pretty ok now tho after eating shed loads of carbs and laying down! Chemo had been fine till then! Boooooo. Hard with the girls. Hope this is just a blip.
Going to GP to get some ant acid for sure!
Hope everyone else is surviving?
X
Hi girls, hows your luck with that bite Denise ? Typical eh?
Sue, Omeprazole is brill for the acid - I take one a day - the GP can give it to you. It really keeps it at bay. Had a couple of days off and have felt really woozy today but am going back to work tomorrow. Mind you, my friend came round tonight with a bottle of rose wine and couldnt resist a glass! Think an early night should sort me out - think this is about the worst I have felt since chemo started so I really have been lucky.
Got on the next pampering session - 21st July in the morning - will have just broken up from school so that should be nice! Speak soon, take care all, xdebbiex
