Re: Anyone in norfolk?

hi girls - like the new photo Sue, my nhs wig came in post today and I think we have the same one lol - will have to get Joe to take a photo of me and I will put it on so we can compare - got my sis to slightly trim the fringe tonight as it was irritating me - cant decide which one I like the best - the one I bought from Debenhams that I wore when I met you is a bit longer. I will have to alternate them!

Glad you are picking up now Suz, all ready to be hit again eh? It will be another one ticked off the list.

Got a mate and her baby up from London this weekend so quite tiring but fun.

Speak soon girls, take care, Debbie xx

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Oh Suz what a bugger? I hate hospitals so much but at least it was only one night but still lots of intervention. I worry about infections etc as my two bring home all sorts from groups and soft play...may live in a bubble like a hamster! Poor hair! i love my crop more than my old hair so will be cheesed off whe it goes south.

Debbie- poor you too! Hope all back on track tomrrow. You are fab for working at all. Girls better but tired. Gracie going though unfortunate stage of not going to sleep very well and howling keeping evie awake, who then howls too...unpleasant round robin. drove. It me to icecream last night!Got wig appt friday. Feel ujncertain whether it will creep me out or amuse me...good friend coming so should survive.

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Oh Suz, poor thing - was wondering how you were. Glad they got you back on track quick and you should start to feel better I hope. I have been off work for a couple of days. My son had sore throat and temp and think he's passed it on - although I am much better today and hope to go back tomorrow. Got to start the bone strengthening tabs tomorrow - one a day so no hardship there, can cope with that if they keep the mets at bay.CT scan next week and take it from there!

Hope all ok with you sue, guess you are ticking off the days to start the ol chemo, hope the girls are keeping well.

Speak soon girls, love xdebbiex

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Hi girls, glad you are both okay and surving chemo no 3!! I had my bone scan on a Saturday which i was really surprised about, i think they just seem to do scans whenever!!
Well i've had a rubbish few days and ended up spending Monday night in hospital as ended up with no white blood cells at all!!! I rang the hospital on monday just to see what they said about havin a cold and they asked me to come in to check me out, they did a blood test and found i was Neutropenic and had temp of 38 so would have to stay in and would havev to stay until my white blood count went up. They put a drip in for antibiotics and saline etc and i was hooked up to that for about 24 hrs!! When they did another blood test yesterday i had white blood cells and they were above the safe limit to send me home, it just means i need to have a white blood cell boosting injection everytime i have chemo to stop that happening again.
And to top it all of my hair is starting to fall out - boo hoo!!
So apart from all that and still having a cold i'm fine.

Hiya girls, rang N&N today about the CT scan and they said as long as I am not pregnant I can keep to the date given - 25 June so thats a bit better - its at 6pm what a funny time !!
Went to work today but felt a bit grotty so came home after lunch - the ex said he will cook for us tonight so thats really nice - gonna have a little rest before dinner - turning into a bit of a lazy cow LOL.

Hope you are ok Suz and its not getting you down too much, keep posting so we know how you are - still waiting to hear from the Big C on the next pampering session - guess they are pretty busy - gonna take em up on it tho xx speak soon love Debbie xx

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Ooh like the hair sue = its the best way to have it cut short, just in case it goes. What a lovely day its been - had a lovely sunday lunch at mums today and a snooze, no washing up to face - lovely.

Sorry you feel a bit rough Suz, keep dosed up and I reckon you will be fine for your next blast - boy those 3 weeks in between chemo's fly by - got a date for the CT scan but you have to have it 10 days after last period so gotta rearrange it as just my luck the date given is no good - so its likely to be early July now - have been reading up on secondaries in the organs just in case and they can be managed too but I AM DETERMINED THAT I WON'T EVEN HAVE THEM SO THERE

Positive thinking - right gonna do duck and pancakes now for the little un - his favourite, speak soon lots a love, xxDebbieXX

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Hi girls.
Feel rubbish today - got a yukkie sore throat and a cold - just typical as i start my last week before my next cheo session and had been lead to believe the week b4 chemo you were meant to be fine!! Not got a temperature so dont think i need to call the hospital so will just dose up on nurophen.
Hope you're feeling okay Debbie and fantastic that you are now half way.
Glad you've got a date Sue to start chemo - at least you've got something to plan towards. Hope you get on okay with the wig fitting. I took my camera with me and took a picture in a blonde one just to see what i looked like!!
Going back to bed now with my huge glass of OJ.

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Crikey Suz the massage sounds complicated - hope you enjoyed it though. Had my 3rd chemo this morning - half way mark which is great. It went fine as always. My ex hubbie took me today and he has mentioned us all having a little holiday with Joe so I got straight on line but its so difficult to fit in dates around the treatments but I will not give up until I find one. Ideally I need to return just before a blast so as to feel the best I can or after the last one in mid august - will let you know if we get booked - something nice to look forward to for a change.

Your little ones are really going through the mill at the moment eh Sue, hope Gracie's bug clears up - did they show you round the Weybourne unit after your appt yesterday? Sorry if I was talking non-stop I am a bit like that. Love to all, speak soon, xdebbiex

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Hi Girlies,
Oh how lovely that you could both meet yesterday, nice to put a faces to names, and briliant news Debbie about further treatment for you. How easy to just pop a pill and thats it. Great that you don't kneed further chemo for it. I'm sure the ct scan will be fine too and you'll be lucky. Hope the chemo today goes okay for you.
Sue - how did you get on ysterday? Have you got a date now for when your chemo starts?

I'm doing okay - still got a furry mouth, and my arm where i had the chemo in, is now starting to hurt, but was warned this might happen. Have had a bad headache for the last couple of days but doc has given me some strong tablets so thats good. Going to treat myself today and have a massage as thought that might help the headache too. Even that you would think would be straight forward, but no!! Had to get the doctor to write a letter saying a massage would not affect me and my treatment so that i don't then turn round and sue the massage lady if i get any s/e from a massage!!! Just bloody well hope the massage will be worth it!!

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Hi Norfolk girls - Sue (Evie) and I met at the N&N today it was lovely to be able to say hello in person and have a chat. I am sure Sue will be absoulutely fine with her chemo. I have to take a bone strengthening tablet every day (easy peasy) and will continue with the FEC chemo. I have to have a CT scan to check organs - if they are clear I am a lucky girl and they can keep the secondaries in their sights. Have to wait about 2 weeks for appt so gonna focus on the next lot of chemo (tomorrow) for now and worry about CT results when/if they arise.

How are you doing Suz - you have been a bit quiet - hope you are still feeling ok - let us know how you are pleeeeese lots a love, xxdebbiexx

Sue, don't dread Wednesday, you will feel so much better when you hear what they have in store for you (in a weird way I know.) You can then work out when you are half way, when its gonna end etc and you have something to aim at - think I will recognise you now I have seen your picture, it will be nice to say hi.

Suz, might have said this before, but pineapple chunks are great for the funny taste and tongue - be careful brushing your teeth too - the gums can get very sensitive,

bye for now, xxdebbiexx

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

hi girls, had blood taken at GP this morning ready for Thursday's chemo - assuming Dr E doesn't change that due to the new bone mets things - hope not cos that will be 3rd out of 6 - half way yehaaaa. Knowing my luck he will add more on the end to sort the bones out. Sounds like the SE's are all very similar to mine Suz - they gave me a mouthwash last time which kept the ulcers at bay - feels like i have little paper cuts on my tongue this time but nothing too bad.

I might wear my wig on Wed Sue - not sure yet - did u say u have short dark hair - I will just ask anyone fitting your description if its you LOL speak soon, take care all debbie x

Hi girls,
Hope you both had a good weekend despite the awful weather yesterday! Hope your little girls are now on the mend and you're coping as best you can - must be so hard at times. I don't have children of my own - but have 2 strapping stepsons of 15 & 17 so understand a little bit about how awful it must have been.

Had prosethes appointment today and now no longer have to wear my form padding!! So much nicer to feel normal weight on both sides and hopefully will now not ride up! Have a funny mouth today feels like a furry tongue but its not sore, think the water tastes strange too but no other s/e.
Good luck Debbie for Wednesday if i'm not on here again before then, hope it goes okay.

It was and to be fair i would have prefered to run her to the Dr's but evie was really ill and the Dr would only talk to me over the phone! Not helpful when you have a blue mottled baby on your knee who was starting to grunt!

anyway. the day has been much better than i expected and girls have turned corner. just hope me and si dont get the bug!

Glad you have read some positive stuff on bone mets Debbie. Always reassuring when you start to get a picture of what to expect.

Hi Sue, what a scare with Gracie - I am glad she is fine - we must be the sort of people who can take whatever doo doo life decides to throw at us eh? Think I am close to my limits now tho LOL.

Suz now you are off the steroids the tiredness will kick in I can assure you - sleep as much as you can it really helps take the SE's off.

Well girls not much else to report today except I have now heard of ladies with bone mets for over 20 years who are doing ok - that helps me so much to get on with stuff. enjoy the weekend xxdebbiexx

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Hey Debbie. I will keep an eye out for you! Give me an idea of the colour of your scarf nearer the time! Both girls ill and i had to call ambulance as Gracie went blue and mottled and appeared to be going unconscious! Her temp was 39.4 and she has slapped cheek virus and tonsilitis! Totally out of the blue as its evie who is ill with sickness bug! God terrifying.

Apart from that trauma we are fine!

Suz, its a bugger not sleeping. My two year old did not go through the night till she was two! It nearly broke me! She didnt sleep past midnight...Altho i am totally hard core now! Glad Se arent crippling you. Will be interesting if i get a date on wednesday. Actually its terrifying me.

Have nice weekend ladies!

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Hi girls,
Still feeling ok but well tired as not sleeping. Don't need to take any more steriods now until the next lot of chemo so hoping i will sleep tonight!
Was great at the Big C today trying on wigs and i got one too so am well chuffed. Decided to go for chin lenght bob which is how i had it cut into last saturday so if i now loose it people won't know the difference. Had thought about a longer one but would be too obvious its a wig and had thought about going blonde but they just didn't suite me!! Was really good that i could take it there and then. Popped round my mum's afterwards with it on and she didn't guess so was well pleased!
Debbie hope you get on okay next week with Dr E the ONC, he's mine too and is really good. Glad you are feeling more positve and understand that the waiting is the worse bit but am thinking of you.

Sue - hope you get on okay on the 10th, my BCN said they should be changing the process and you should be given a date when chemo is to start at the ONC appointment which will hopefully be much better and then you want have to go through what i did and the waiting.

Have a lovely weekend ladies and speak soon. Suz xx

Feeling really positive about bone mets now the shock has passed but anxious to hear what the onc has in store for me - now I know they are there I will deal with em. Hope your little girl is better soon - I hate it when Joe isnt't 100%.

Suz hope you had fun trying on wigs - did you play safe like me or go for something completely different?? They are pretty good aren't they? Hope u continue to handle the chemo well. Talk soon xxdebbiexx

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

I think my hubbie maybe bit reluctant to leave work earlier as he is very busy so think the rendevous in the clinic maybe best! If i am honest i dont want to go in the Big C place yet either. Think denial still in place cancer wise! If the ONC clinic is like the breast clinic i am sure it will be running late!

I hope they make things clearer plan wise RE bone mets. I must admit i dont know anything about them.

My eldest evie is off colour today. Not sure if she has eaten too much because the steroids the dr gave her made her have mega munchies or she has a tummy bug coming...who knows. ive put her to bed, after calpol, to try to sleep it off. poor kid had a bad week. I did go out last night and the baby woke up unexpectantly and screamed the house down for me! Poor hubbie rang 4 times flapping whilst gracie proceeded the strop for her mummy. kids.

Suz i hope nothing major SE has lurked up and you still feel okish.

Hi Sue, if you fancy it we could meet in the Big C just across from Colney centre about 2.15 - they make you tea and coffee for free and its got lovely sofas etc and very relaxed - they also have all the scarves for sale and so on and they have a lot of info available - have a think cos it may take you away from your little ones a bit longer than you wanted - if not I will tell you what colour scarf I will have on and we can always have a little chat waiting for our appts - dont mind either way x feeling fine about the horrid news and want to hear now how it changes treatment for me. Kids take things at face value dont they? Everythng is very black and white bless them!

I went to the GP today and he signed me off for 12 weeks! Man, wasnt expecting it to be more than a month before i would have to trapse back to him!

Supposed to be going for a girls night in tonight but heart just is not in it! No one knows what to say and then they say the wrong thing. Feeling a bit sad and wallowy and need my hubbie and a curry i guess!

Hello Sue, didnt get the pm - did u send it to right person lol -just to let you know that I am feeling much better about the crap news and not panicking anymore! Phew. What time is your appt next Wed cos I am now up there that day to meet Dr Eperescu my onc at 3pm - if its a similar time we could try and meet for a coffee?? Let me know if thats a possibility x Told my little one the news in a very matter of fact way and held it together - he took it on board fine because I said the chemo is already attacking it and its not going to change very much at the moment it may just mean some different or longer treatment and he hugged me and went on the xbox. Ho hum. Love to all xx Debbie Xx

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

iv sent you a pm debbie.

Suz i am glad the Se arent too hideous at the mo but i, like debbie, have heard they might get a bt worse the more chemo you have so take it easy!!

I am fine. Got my ONC appt on 10th so will start chemo god knows when after that. I have terrible veins and feel i may need a picc line or something as no one can ever get my blood and even the anesthatist struggled before my op! he said " oh i do like a challenge" nice for hime-painfulm for me!

My little girl is recovering from her asthma attack. She is still coughing but we survived soft play and they are both in bed now! Bliss.

Lots of love to you Suz with chemo and obviously i am soooo thinking about you debbie right now.

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Hi Suz, am tons better about the news - just spoke to my BC nurse and she was very reassuring. Bone mets are not curable but are treatable - the onc might want to see me earlier than the appt booked for July as he may change the chemo regime but may decide to continue as planned - waiting to hear on that. There are lots of treatment options for the mets ie rads, bone strengthening infusion or tablets. I have no pain at mo but have had chronic rib pain and what I thought was sciatica but now seems likely was this! I have 4 "hot spots" I think she said, so it could be worse. Once again something to get your head around and deal with ! Glad you are doing well - U sound really similar to me and how the chemo affects me. I have been warned that it does have a cumulative effect tho so the SE's may increase each time so lets get prepared for that one as well ! Have just told my parents about the bone mets and had a good cry with mum - am going to tell my son later but keep it very positive and light cos its so hard to take in for him. Keep on that road to recovery, speak soon, xx debbie xx ps love to Sue toooo xx

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Hi Girls,
Oh Debbie sorry to read your post and having to hear those results. Must have been a complete shock to you. Hope you're bearing up okay? What is the next step now for you, have they said yet?

I'm feeling okay, but just tired and lethegaic, don't really want to do much at the moment.Mum has been really brilliant and popping in each day and making me lunch so have some company for a few hours till hubbie is home. Have found i haven't been sleeping at night and then after hubbie goes to work fall back to sleep till 10.30ish - oh so lazy!! I take the last of my steriod tablets at lunch time today so hope i might then be able to sleep a bit better at night time. Have not really had any other S/E yet, no funny taste in mouth just a bit of a furry tongue. Still got all hair and had none fall out yet!! Hoping the cold cap has done the job.

Was in the chemo suite for about 2hrs 15 mins but that was cause i had the cold cap. Had 3 of those, 1 b4 tretment, i during and 1 after. When i have my last 3 treatments which will be TAC have been told they take ages to do - like about 5 hrs so if i still have hair not sure about haveing the cold cap for that length of time - we'll just have to wait and see if it falls out!

Have my wig fitting tomorrow at the BIC C Centre so am looking forward to trying a blonde one!

Evie have you heard yet when your chemo starts?

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Hey girls, just had the most surreal evening - decided to have a chat with other half and we had more or less decided to stay friends when the phone rang and it was my GP at 8.30 pm asking if she could pop round as she had bone scan results. RIGHT SO THATS NORMAL !!- I then shook for 10 minutes whilst waiting for her to arrive - my son was at his dads and I managed a call asking him to keep him til I called. Well as you can imagine its not good news - they have found secondaries in a few "hot spots" in ribs pelvis and near the bum cheek. The GP thinks they may stick to the same chemo I am already on and scan me again at end of it - after the initial shock it sounds like they can deal very effectively with it and its very common - I;m going to investigate it now - think its known as bone mets ?? Oh just when you think you are getting a bit nearer to being ok - will let you know if i discover something. Take care, xxDebbiexx

Ants have been partly exterminated but boy are they determined! My Little gracie is still tring to stand and Evie is still off from her astham attack but getting back to normal! Soft play tomorrow so that will be bedlam! Have dyed my hair while i still can and must say its a bit dark!!! hey ho.

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Hi Sue/Debbie.
Well i survied the 1st chemo and it wasn't too bad!!
The nurse tried to put a canular into a vein on my hand and it didn't work so have a hugh black bruise today! 2nd attempt was into a vein on my wrist and that was fine. The cold cap was okay too so am glad i went for it. Yes it was cold but was more heavy than anything. Cos my appointment was at 3.30 and was given steriods i didn't sleep a wink last night so am bit tired and feel like i have indegestion but no other SE's yet so fingers crossed. Taking it easy today and drinking lots to flush system through.,

Sue - Hope your little girl is okay, and wow that younger one is standing - how exciting. I've got my wig appointmenet Friday so will let you know how i get on but definatley think you should venture to the Big C centre as they are so helpful and lovely.

Debbie - Glad you got on ok with your wig at school - kids can be horrible at times so great that no=one was horrible. And your parents saying how good it looks too can only boost your confidence.
HOpe you get you bone scan results soon, the worst bit is the waiting so definatly chase them again. Why don't you ring your BCN to see if she can help?

Take care and speak soon Suz xx

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

Hi Suz - I hope it all went ok today and that it wasnt as scary and horrible as we all imagine ?? Dont despair if you feel pants the next couple of days - the SE's do lessen as the days go on - you feel back to normal then the buggers blast you again!

Hi Sue. glad your little one is recovering - asthma attacks are so rotten esp for such a tiny girl, glad she is on the mend.

I wore my wig to school today - got loads of great comments and none of the kids pointed or laughed (phew) called into my parents on the way home from work quickly and they both said it looked like me again - it was bloody itchy tho - may go back to scarf tomorrow! It is good to have it there tho and have a choice. Hope all doing ok, I am chasing bone scan results with the GP - nearly 4 weeks waiting now and getting cheesed off. Spose they will come thru in good time . c ya, Debbie xx

OH MY GOD Suz thats sudden? I am pleased for you if you know what i mean but boy....GOOD GOOD Luck.
Do post how it goes. Me next.

Wig wise still on the fence! The head wrap I bought certanly does not make me look like an idiot so may stick with it and buy my daughter one too as she wants it!
Yes Evie is my 2 yr old- full name Evelyn after a grandma but Evie to everyone who knows her. Gracie is the baby who is 10mths today and who stood up independantly yesterday and just looked amazed!!! What a baby.

Had traumatic weekend with Evie having 4 asthma attacks in one day and a trip to A and E but she has stabilised now. Poor kid has been at least 10mths since last serious one.

Hope both of you feel ok and i may well venture to Big C if i feel brave!

Re: Anyone in norfolk?

You ring the Weybourne unit 01603 287213 and ask for appt - the lady is there every Friday - the style I picked had to be ordered in the colour I wanted and she said it will come in 7-10 days - I spent about £20 on a stand, brush, shampoos etc - you meet her in the Big C centre and is very private calm and relaxing. I am having it posted cos its a 40 mile round trip for me to the N&N and I already feel I am spending WAY too much time there LOL. I think I might shave the crew cut thing off if I make a lot of use of the wig to make it a bit cooler - its still coming out on its own anyway so why wait ?? ps the big C have a huge slection of scarves too the big squares are only £2. Have a lovely day sue - I am guessing one of your babies is the Evie?? One of my names if Joe had been a girl. speak soon, Debbie xx
