Re: Associated shoulder pain with liver mets

Hi Katherine - this must have been so hard to hear but I just wanted to say (along with all the other who have posted) that I know of loads of ladies that Cape has worked really well for (and for a very long time)!  Not even the experts can really know how you will respond but I can't bear that your onc has said this to you - a little bit of positivity goes a really long way and if you do well on the drugs who knows how long they can keep you stable. Never give up hope ... and as I always say if things go well on one drug and buy you that little bit of extra time then there is then more hope that by then someone else will have come up with something else to keep you going that little bit longer .. and so on and so on!  Have you been for a second opinion?  xxx

Can I say huge hugs to all of you that have taken the time to respond to my posts. I've felt so alone before and your words have had such a positive impact I can't explain to you all. Bless you all for being the lovely people you are....

Re: Associated shoulder pain with liver mets

Oh Katherine what awful news to have to take in. I really am so sorry and sending you huge hugs and bucketfuls of love. Hoping and praying that you'll be ok to start Cape and that it will give you the extra time you need. ive heard too that it seems to be really effective for a lot of ladies on here.

I am just on my 2nd cycle of Cape and hope I'm responding well to it. None of us are ready to leave our families yet and I hope your Onc is wrong and Cape will work for you.

Love and huge cyberhugs

Hi Katherine. I've not been able to log on for a day or so but had read your post about your liver mets progression and, being a liver mets lady as well, I do really feel for you.  I know how difficult everything must be right now and I do hope so much that you will be able to start Capecitabine and get some relief and, more importantly, extra time with your loved ones.  Look afer yourself and know that we are all here offering support as and when you need it.

Take care

Nicky xx

Katherine - what difficult news to take in. You're right to get as much quality time with your family as you can. I really hope the cape is successful for you - like Sheila says for some people it works really well. We are all here for you - holding your hand. Huge hugs for you xxxx

Re: Associated shoulder pain with liver mets

Hi Katherine, I'm so sorry to hear your news. Try to be hopeful that things improve if you are able to take the cap. A lady on this forum was given 6 months and had 9 years because of cap. Will be praying that you get some quality time.

Love Sheila xx

Re: Associated shoulder pain with liver mets

Thank you all. It's a lot to take in but I will go down trying my hardest to have quality time for my last weeks and months with my son and family. If I can do anything to get more weeks be assured I will do! Thank you again for your kind words. I can't tell you how much it helps.

Re: Associated shoulder pain with liver mets

Hi everyone, just a quick update, apparently the mets in my liver are large and numerous and the prognosis for me is weeks rather than months. They have said they will try me on Capecitabine if I am well enough next week to take it which will hopefully extend my life for a few months which I am of course desperately hoping for. Thanks for all your help. Feeling low at the moment but ever hopeful of a few more months!

With regard to pain relief I have oramorf to take at home which seems to be doing the trick. Hope that helps.

Re: Associated shoulder pain with liver mets

Thanks Kimi, rotten to hear you are in pain but you are right - it is so nice to know you are not alone!

BC Lass, I'm trying to find out the best pain relief now. I don't like to take Tramadol as it makes me sick and nauseous but ibuprofen and paracetamol don't quite cut the mustard. I've asked to be put in touch with the palliative care team to talk about pain relief. When they get in touch I'll let you know what they say but you may want to approach your GP to be put in touch with the pain relief team if you are suffering.

I get shoulder pain - no liver mets but lung and bone. What do people take for the pain? I use ibuprofen just now.

Associated shoulder pain with liver mets

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone else had associated shoulder pain with their liver mets at all? I have terrible pain in my shoulder the same as a few months ago when I had to have my gall bladder removed. I went to the hospital but they said it's down to the liver mets. Has anyone else had this and did they manage to get rid of their liver mets so they weren't in pain through chemo at all?
