Re: Atelectasis in lung can this be the start of mets in pleura or lung

Thank you helhel for your reply. That was very informative I'm still struggling. Living on tramadol some of my symptoms are similar but my X-ray was clear so that should be good but ct showed collapse of lung both sides but that was mid nov n I'm no better I'm trying to get an other scan so I kno wether it's worse better of the same. But not sure if I'm getting one or not I just kno that I'm not ok. N just hoping its only pleurisy but you can't help but worry. Il let you kno Anoy development I hope your doing ok I'm not sure about the new website I preferred the old one n haven't been on for ages. But I think if you go into your profile page I think you might be able to do it from there. Take care. Rozita x

Re: Atelectasis in lung can this be the start of mets in pleura or lung

Sorry for delay Rozita
I'm not good on the forum and how to save where I post to get back to it.
My symptoms were slow in appearing and difficult to diagnose. Very vague looking back. I had a pain in my side which was always referred to as my flank. Sort of lower rib cage front and back. Couple of visits to GP and thought was muscular as I was always doing some sort of excersise classes. This was joined by something I can only describe as a rolling motion under my flesh. Couldnt see but could feel it. Very odd and this was never given an explanation. Some sweating front and back too but not equal both sides. No idea what caused this.
I also developd a cough and was put through about 3 different strengths of AB's. Nothing shifted it. I was also seen by asthma nurse but she only listened to top of my chest, so breathing was fine up there.
I would also get excrutiating pain in my mid lower back late in the evening and thought could be kidney probs. A pelvic scan ruled this out.
It all came to a head when I returned from overseas hol. The pain went to the top of my chest around my shoulder and this was on the flight back home. Probably due to cabin pressure on fluid. I went straight away to GP who listened to whole of lung area and couldnt hear breath sounds on one side. Off to hosp for chest xray when they finally saw fluid in lung cavity.
as admitted for drain and stayed a week in hosp. It wasnt until it was tested however that they detected BC cells present in fluid.
I'm not saying any of this to put the fear of god into you, just to share my symptoms. Always keep in mind that everyone is different and your case could have completely different outcome.
Do let me know how you get on and if you know, tell me how to save this thread!!
Big hugs and positive thoughts heading your way,
H

Hi helhel thank you for your reply I would be interested what your symptoms were and how they found it. Iv been to the docs this morning. She's sending me for ECG cos of palpitations n said she will look into if I can have another scan cos I had one in November but said they were looking more at blood vessels than lung. Even tho they did find atelectasis Still struggling tho living on painkillers xx

Atelectasis in lung can this be the start of mets in pleura or lung

Hi all I have been coughing since may last year but was diagnosed with whooping cough which can last for 100 days so thought I'd just deal with it iv had problems with my chest after radiotherapy but in November was rushed into hospital I thought I was having a heart attack as wokeasterly hours with chest pain that felt like someone sitting on my chest n difficulty in breathing. They suspected it might be a blood clot after a ct scan that was ruled out but they said it was pleuretic pain ( pleurisy) and bilateral atelectasis which is partial lung collapse in bottom of lung. Sent home n from then on have been in pain struggle with breathing crackling when laid on back short breathing no noise n taking a deep breath leaves me breathless n palpitations sweats whenever I do anything and in between n palpitations a d breathless most of time doctors doing nothing said last week give it 2 months then we will re scan. When I pushed iv read pleurisy takes time but I'm worried I don't feel right n noticed some on here have secondaries in the pleura what are the symptoms or is it early lung cancer any advice appreciated x rozita
