BRCA1

Hello,

I’ve recently had a preventative double mastectomy due to the BRCA1 gene and i’m stuggling to find anyone to talk to about it, the pain is easing but the emtional side of things is not and i’m feeling very sad and not happy with how my breasts looks yet, i appreciate that i’m still healing, but would really like to talk to some ladies who have also gone through this so i feel less alone!

Also does anyone know if i should already be using cream on my scars?

I look forward to hearing from someone.

Thank you x

Hiya Daria

You have been through the mill, girl, and I was wondering if you have come across

breastcancergenetics.co.uk

It’s for women and their families affected by the BRCAs and you might find support and information. You seem to be very low and I hope you’ll find some comfort from that site, and here, too, on this forum.

We all wish we could make everything all right for each other,  the best we can do is say that you’re not alone and say take each day one at a time.

Hope you feel better and keep coming back to the forum to say how you are doing, with love, Caroline

Hi Daria

Hi Daria, i’ve just joined this forum but i too have BRCA1 and have had a double mx. Feel free to message me if you want to chat about anything xx

I have not had a masectomy yet but hope you are doing better.  I meet with my surgeon on Aug 22, pretty scared but certainly ready for it & hoping I wont have to wait too long.  Also opting out of reconstruction!  how are you doing now?  hoping you have lots of support
