What does a blood test for bone profile test mean before mastectomy, is it normally done??

Hi no it not a single, it’s with other like full blood count, thyroid, etc. it was just one of the boxs tick. I just wondered if it was standard. Xx

Is this a single blood test that your surgeon has requested?
The reason I ask is this one one of the blood tests I had along with blood tests for other things prior to my surgery last week

Thanks funki, I did wonder if it was that’s why I ask. I’ve never heard of a bone profile test before an operation and it made me worry. I wonder if anyone else had it tick too before surgery

You probably wouldn’t of had it before other surgeries but it is relevant to the surgeries we are having for breast cancer.

Do you know what it’s looking for, I have dcis with clear lymth nodes.

How long ago did you have this blood test? Was it before surgery or after?

Blood were done b4 surgery. Had op now, never mentioned bloods so must of been ok xx
