Re: Bone scan

Hi Sib,

Thank you for taking the time to reply when you're so busy at the moment. Hope it's all gone well at the hospital today.

I suppose it's good that you'll be kept a close eye on tomorrow eve in hospital, but hopefully you won't have to be in for a week. What time have you got to be there? I expect it must still seem unreal to you.

Also, thank you for thinking of me tomorrow. I'm a bit anxious incase the biopsy shows up something more, but as the bc nurse said, they're not really expecting to, it's more of a precaution, but it's better to find out before the op. Not looking forward to more bruising, it's only just gone from four weeks ago!

It's good that your work is being so kind (what do you do?) and you haven't got to worry about that.

It was lovely to get away for the weekend, it felt as everything was normal! My friend has said I can go back after my op to rest, so I might take her up on that! There's also some nice tearooms there! 🙂

Thinking of you xx

Re: Bone scan

Hi Jencat, I am hoping to get out of hospital early next week , with my drain in but I could be in for a week! My first night will be in high dependency ward so they can keep an eye on me. But as I am normally fit and healthy with no under lying health conditions I should be OK. I'm keeping really busy ,still at work . Work have been brilliant only worked there for 7 months but they are paying me for time off with surgery then offered me to work from home (if I'm able ) during chemo. It's likely to be 8 months of treatment for me in total.
Lovely that you got away with your daughter to have some quality time. Keep your chin up and let me know how biopsys go. Xxx

Re: Bone scan

Hi Sib,

Sorry I'm only just replying to you, but  my daughter and I have gone away for the weekend, which has been a lovely break.

Most of the time I'm ok thanks, just a little wobble now and then. I know what you mean about not sleeping though, I'm still not sleeping that well either. I've got to have another biopsy this Friday because my last one came back clear, which they didn't expect as my lump is quite big for pre-invasive cancer-apparently it only happens in 10/15% of cases. Trust me to be different! They want to double-check before they operate and decide what treatment I need after my op. So more waiting for results!

How are you doing? It must still seem a bit unreal to you. Do you know how long you will be in hospital? xx

Re: Bone scan

Thanks Jencat. I am keeping myself busy, lots to organise before surgery. Just wish i could sleep at night, only getting a couple of hours, spend most of my time sitting going on this site drinking tea in middle of night! I'm sure lots of people feel the same. How are you doing? What's next for you

Re: Bone scan

Hi Sib,

I hope you're ok today. You've had a lot to take in as everything is happening so quickly for you. It must be nice to have your husband home for the weekend.

That's kind of your local charity to provide bras for local bc patients.

I know you mentioned money being tight if you don't work, just wondered if you might be entitled to some benefits or grants. I've got a feeling that Macmillan has got something about it on their website.

Sending you a hug xx

Re: Bone scan

I'm taking today Friday off work, got lots to organise and my husband by will be home lunchtime for weekend. I'm also off Monday as I have appointment withe bcn re my mastectomy, to go through everything and measure me for bras, where I live a lovely charity donate 2 bras to each woman having mastectomy. I then intend to go to work on Tuesday and Wednesday to sort things as likely to be off 2-4 weeks. In hospital Thursday to meet my operating team and go through everything then op Friday.
I have 2 sons, one is still at home who will help me . Everyone's kind words, thoughts and hugs mean so much to me. I know this will be a tough battle but it's one that I have to win. Xxx

Re: Bone scan

Yes, you're bound to have good and bad days and it probably all feels a bit unreal at the moment. I know the results aren't what you had hoped for, but a relief your liver and bone scan came back clear.

Are you planning to go to work tomorrow? I went in the day after I got my results and I'm not sure if that was a good idea in hindsight-it was nice to have some normality, but by the afternoon I felt exhausted! Eleven days of waiting for results and not sleeping caught up with me!

I know your husband is working away, but have you got other support around you? If you haven't, you will get alot of support on here. It kept me sane reading the threads whilst I was waiting for my results and also stopped me googling! xx

Re: Bone scan

It's an invasive breast cancer of no specific type. Thanks so much for your concern it means a lot. I'm sure this will be a huge emotional rollercoaster with highs and lows. Xxx

Re: Bone scan

Sorry to be ignorant, but what is NST? Also meant to say, you sound very positive. I think actually it's the waiting that's so hard to deal with. Thinking of you and sending a hug xx

Re: Bone scan

Hi Sib,

Glad to see you've posted on the forum. I was looking at your other thread and was concerned not to hear from you and wondered if you were ok. Sorry to hear your news, but so glad to read that the treatment plan is in place and the outlook is very good. xx

Re: Bone scan

Diagnosed with stage 2  NST, need full mastectomy  and removal of lymph nodes, plus 18 weeks of chemotherapy followed by radiation treatment, then 10 years of tamoxifen.  Surgery booked for 30th June.  Bone scan clear which is good and consultant says my health is good so very hopeful for full recovery. Feel remarkably calm got a fight ahead for next 6 months but I will win this battle. X

Re: Bone scan

Had my bone scan today. Painless for anyone who has to get one. A bit of waiting around while the radiation goes round your body but I was able to walk round hospital grounds and sit in sun. Wasn't told results but on admission the nurse said I was there really to determine 'what stage I was at' I haven't yet been told it's definitely bc (have appointment for biopsys results 22nd) but as I was on my own I couldn't face correcting her or querying . Mind is doing overtime but I feel so well, other than normal perimenopausal symptoms of a 50 year old

Re: Bone scan

Hi Sib, when I went for all my scans and tests the technicians told me nothing . I had to wait for all the results to go to my Onco who then used them to devise my treatment plan. The waiting game is a real pain! Sorry if this isn't what you want to hear. 🍀  X
