Call for Focus Group Participants – Secondary Breast Cancer and Employment
Breast Cancer Care’s Policy and Campaigns team are looking for people who have had a diagnosis of secondary breast cancer and are in employment (or were in employment at the time of the secondary diagnosis) to take part in a focus group. This follows on from our employment survey which we sent out in 2006. Participants in the focus group will explore areas of concern and importance for people with secondary breast cancer in the context of employment and examples of good or bad employment practice in this area. The information gathered at the focus group will feed into Breast Cancer Care’s forthcoming employment campaign.
The focus group are taking place on:
Monday 18th February at Breast Cancer Care’s central offices in Southwark, London – 12.30-3pm
If you would like to attend, or would like further information, please contact Lizzie Magnusson on 020 79603568 or email <script type=“text/javascript”>eval(unescape(‘%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%4c%69%7a%7a%69%65%6d%40%62%72%65%61%73%74%63%61%6e%63%65%72%63%61%72%65%2e%6f%72%67%2e%75%6b%22%3e%4c%69%7a%7a%69%65%6d%40%62%72%65%61%73%74%63%61%6e%63%65%72%63%61%72%65%2e%6f%72%67%2e%75%6b%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b’))</script>

I would quite like to attend this - but it might have been nice to be consulted on timing as this is half term week for most of the state schools in london, as I am having chemo on the 15th , working and have a 12 year old I suspect its a bit too ambitious to attend this as well something has to give. Will probably give the person above a call,
Would have liked to attend the London session but I have a meeting that morning I can’t get out of. If there are any subsequent meetings I’d definitely like to attend.
Shame you won’t be able to go. I forget now when half terms are as my son is now in his second year of uni but I always used to know when half term was as it meant headaches of finding childcare for him!
Sorry can’t be there - got to have my herceptin, got patients booked in at work in the pm, and now my daughter’s saxophone exam all on that day!!
Hope it goes well
Jacquie
I am afraid that due to a low takeup we have had to cancel the Sheffield focus group (the initial post above has been amended to reflect this), however the London focus group is still going ahead as planned.
We still have a couple of places left on the London focus group on Monday 18th February at Breast Cancer Care’s central offices in Southwark, London – 12.30-3pm. If you are interested in attending, please contact Lizzie Magnusson; 0207 960 3568, <script type=“text/javascript”>eval(unescape(‘%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%6c%69%7a%7a%69%65%6d%40%62%72%65%61%73%74%63%61%6e%63%65%72%63%61%72%65%2e%6f%72%67%2e%75%6b%22%3e%6c%69%7a%7a%69%65%6d%40%62%72%65%61%73%74%63%61%6e%63%65%72%63%61%72%65%2e%6f%72%67%2e%75%6b%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b’))</script>
Would like to go but work and chemo commitments make it not possible. May be a telephone conference could be organised to allow more people to be involved?
Still not absolutely sure that I will be there - partly depends on what my onc says this pm about the “next plan” for me. Hope that I can make it though - I’m slightly taller than you with very short “salt and pepper” hair at the moment. Just not sure how many people they are expecting!
Hope you get on okay today about their plans for you. If you are able to go I shall be looking at everyone who has salt and pepper hair!
I know they don’t need a huge amount of people because it’s a focus group but I would imagine they have enough otherwise they would have cancelled it due to lack of numbers as that’s what’s happened with the Sheffield one.
I really enjoyed yesterday and felt that we covered a lot - my first experience of a focus group and I will certainly go to one again! Very tired yesterday when I got home but it was my first “solo” trip out since my op.
