Hi, I am having a mastectomy next week and I will be having chemo after. Does anyone know when the chemo is likely to start?

Hi Beth
It all depends on how quickly you heal. The chemo and steriods stop you from healing so you need the wound to have fully healed before they will proceed with chemo.

Hi Beth as a guide I had right mastectomy October 9th 15 and my first chemo was November 25th 15 so 6 to 7 weeks after op. Hope this helps. Xx
Hi I had mx 17 March and chemo starts 9 May, so just under 8 weeks after op. Depend on how well you heal and also my hospital is so busy with chemo, a 4 week waiting list from seeing Oncologist, I changed hospitals but in same Trust with a 2 week wait.
I just what to get it started and over with asap.
