Re: Coldcap

Thanks for sharing 🙂 Very useful! Will look into those vitamins! X

Re: Coldcap

Hi blueash. I had my lump removed in March, all breast tissue clear, all nodes clear, 100% clear margins too. Just unfortunate it was a positive cancer and that's why they belt and brace us with the chemo, herceptin & tamoxifen. Do hold out hope after the second one, even if you lose a lot of hair, don't panic and shave it off, like I said, there's been times I've wanted to, but I look and think, no, it's fine I can't see any visible patches, I can cover them and it's only short term, hair will grow back. I use simple shampoo and wash my hair once a week and tie it back into a lose pony after its naturally dried. I also bought a silk pillow case as its so kind on your head. Use a wide tooth Comb before you wash it, & after you've washed it. Only comb it once or twice at the most a day. That's all I've done. It's a pain in the butt but it'll be worth it in the end. Xxx

Re: Coldcap

Hi Claire. As soon as I found out, I went to a guy called Neil who specialises with people who have alopecia, his salon is in Stratford Apon Avon. http://www.neilharvey.co.uk/index.php/elanvideo that's his website. The wig I've got is amazing, it's exactly like my hair before I had it cut shorter.

The vitamins I take its the boots skin, hair & nails, one every morning.

The other ones I take are from a company called Ariix, it's all natural stuff & I can honestly say, if I wasn't taking them twice a day, I would be in trouble. I started them about 2 weeks before chemo.

I hope this helps. X

Re: Coldcap

Hi joanna, thanks for sharing your experience. i was just wondering what type of vitamins are you buying and where are you getting your wigs from? Thank you. Claire X

Re: Coldcap

Thank you for this post. I am due to start the same regime as you in August. I also have HER2 positive but mine was stage 1 grade 3 and no lymph node involvement. I am having Herceptin in the infusion and then after that injections in the thigh for another 12 times every 3 weeks.

Years ago I had hair extentions and if I can save some hair I was hoping to have a few after the chemo is over if my own hair is really shabby. If the glue in ones are not suitable the clip in type might work. I shall have to wait and see if the cold cap works on me but you have given me hope xxx

Coldcap

I'm stage 2 HER2 positive breast cancer & currently on taxol & carboplatin. At the end of week 2 from my first chemo I thought with the amount of hair that came out I was bald, unbelievable, I have continued to shed to date & there have been times where I have sat on my bed & cried my heart out combing my hair, however I have persisted with the coldcap with the support of my amazing husband. I am due my last chemo in a weeks time & as much as I miss my beautiful waist hair, I'm grateful &a happy to say I still have a full head of bobbed hair. I have lost hair at the front, sideburns and nape of the neck, I am patchy underneath and very thin, but I can cover all those parts & the thought of starting all over again was very a very scary process. Ladies, don't give up, it's worth persisting after chemo 2 & ones chemo 3 has been, it's does start to slow down just hang on in there. I've lost 50% at least but I have a beautiful wig I can where till it thickens and grows back in. Still have eyebrows & lashes, caster oil in them every single night. Take you're skin, hair & nail & vitamin supplements. The only side effects I've had is, the hairloss & fatigue. Take care of your body. Positivity & belief, we are all strong beautiful women. We got this. I will up date again a month after my last chemo to up date you on my hairgrowth from the bits that are missing.

Hope I've helped. 🙂
