Could this be Ibc?

Re: Could this be Ibc?

Thanks Kess, thanks Bonita for replying.
Yes, think I'll give the BCN a call.
There is something definitely going on with her breast again, although I'm not sure what can be done as she has chosen not to have any treatment except pain relief , which naturally she has my full blessing.I think it's the not knowing as I don't think she will be biopsied again.
Many thanks for your advice.

Re: Could this be Ibc?

hi sorry to hear about your grandmother. Sometimes locally advanced cancer that has continued to progress looks like IBC, but it tends to have developed slower. I would really recommend talking to the helpline or your grandmothers BCN about it.

Re: Could this be Ibc?

Hi sqwarky,

Thank you for your post. I am sure some of our users will be along to share their experiences with IBC and show their support soon.

In the meantime you can always post on our Ask the Nurse board or call our helpline on 0808 800 6000, who will be able to talk you through any questions you have and offer a friendly ear. The opening hours are below:

Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
Late opening Wednesday, 9am-7pm
Saturday, 9am-1pm

Best wishes,

Could this be Ibc?

Hi.Last June, my grandmother was diagnosed with locally advanced breast cancer with skin involvement, hormone receptor negative, node positive.
Being 96 yrs old, she made the decision to not have surgery(chemo too harsh too),and just had 6 sessions of palliative radiotherapy to hopefully stop the tumour growing through the skin.
Fast forward to about 4 weeks ago, whilst showering her, I noticed her breast had orange peel skin around the nipple area and was extremely hard. She said it was really heavy too.
I took her to the Drs, who said he thought she had an infection, but after 10 days of antibiotics, it's no better and she is also getting stabbing pains, pain under the armpit, and I've noticed today some ridges in the skin( can be felt) coming out from nipple area(are these the corn rows I've read about with Ibc?)
Her breast is slightly darker, I would say than the other one.
Does this sound like Ibc? It's in the same breast as the original tumour. There is no lump, it just feels hard .
Sorry for the long post,I hope I don't sound like I'm rambling.
Many thanks in advance.
