DCIS grade 3 ER+

I was diagnosed with DCIS grade 3 ER positive.  My thoughts are, does this mean that the cancer is rapidly spreading as I wait to see the specialist.  I don’t know what to think.  What does my diagnose mean?  Can it be treated?  Will I be ok?

Hi there, I’m no expert, but I have had DCIS twice now, and understand that it is contained within the duct and therefore not invasive. It might spread eventually, I think, but it is very slow and will be removed before that happens. Yes, it’s very treatable. I have had lumpectomy both times but told if I have it a third time I would need mastectomy. So I have opted to have this now as don’t want to live with the risk. Don’t take this as gospel, but I understand ER positive to be the least problematic kind. I’m sure you will be ok. Make sure you write down all your questions for when you see the specialist. You will feel so much better when you understand more, and the WLE (or lumpectomy) is not too bad so try not to worry. Good luck!
