Db mx 2 implants

Re: Db mx 2 implants

I had a single mx in September with immediate mesh and silicone implant reconstruction. Unfortunately it got infected and removed in December. After chemo I had an expander put in 4 weeks ago. It's part silicon/ part saline, the surgeon half filled it at the time of the op. I had it fully expanded yesterday with another 150ml of saline because rads planning is Monday so we didn't have time for a slow expansion. It feels fine, I slept happily on my front last night and have full range of movement.

I went back to yoga 5 times a week just 3 weeks after mx and carried on throughout chemo. Since chemo I've also been swimming and doing combat / gym training. I'm sure all this has helped the flexibility - physio is impressed! So keep going with the exercises ladies.

Re: Db mx 2 implants

There's not much choice other than put up,with it I couldn't stand having them out and going for a different procedure I don't think my body could cope with any more cutting and stitching! 🙀

Re: Db mx 2 implants

I had implants, came out in the end, however, hated being flat.Opted for DIEP now struggling with seroma in abdomen....I really do hope you get your self sorted.I,too, haven't been able to lie in my tummy for nearly a year.Am now going back to swimming and gym....enjoy the Cyprus weather,Rosie...😎
PS I had an implant first of all 2000,never really comfortable, however, got used to it.

Re: Db mx 2 implants

Hi Na123 no one told us that reconstruction would be so uncomfortable! I don't know why ladies have implants for enhancement!!!

Re: Db mx 2 implants

Thanks Kiki2 I am about to attempt my first swim since September 14 so should be interesting!!!

Re: Db mx 2 implants

Sorry have just looked further down page and realised you had already answered my question!! Hope your permanent implants settle soon! Xx

Re: Db mx 2 implants

Oh dear Rosie, that doesn't bode well if it's still that uncomfortable after nearly a year! Did you have implants or expandable implants? I can only lie on side but still not really comfortable to do so (16wks post op) . Trying to start running and playing badminton again as fed up of putting everything on hold but it still feels quite tight! Xx

Re: Db mx 2 implants

Hi Na123 I was hoping to hear from ladies,on the other side of reconstruction too! I haven't attempted lying on my front since I had db mx last July. I am only just managing to turn from side to side and that's with an aeroplane neck cushion to lean onto to soften impact!

Re: Db mx 2 implants

Hi Rosie and Kiki

I had double mx with recon with strattice and expandable teardrop implants - 11 weeks ago.

Both sides have been expanded slowly, although feel uneven, neither has 'dropped', and ans they are as hard as footballs. Tight and uncomfortable to move in bed and although can gently lie on my front, it hurts when I move and take the pressure off.

Surgeon says it will settle, takes 6-12months. I cannot imagine that other breast imp, ants are as hard and uncomfortable

I would like to speak to some ladies who hace had this a year ago

On the positive - am better, scars healed, coping with diagnosis. Is this a sign of getting better that one now 'moans' about the appearance, feel and discomfort of the reconstruction, when previously just getting rid of the cancer was all important?

Xx

Re: Db mx 2 implants

I wouldn't mind if I knew the discomfort was going to stop or ease soon!🙀

Re: Db mx 2 implants

I had single mx with immediate implant recon with mesh in Feb . I have been quite surprised that it still hurts /twinges at times and my underarm is still pretty stiff though I can stretch straight up if I have to! When I asked surgeon St check up he said I could expect some pain for up to a year! This was not mentioned before op! At least now I know what to expect I have stopped worrying about every twinge, but I suspect it will never feel normal! Good luck! Xx

Db mx 2 implants

I had a DH mx last July and had tissue expanders inserted at the time of surgery. Eventually they were inflated! Ever since my db mx I have had a feeling of tightness and I thought it was the tissue expanders causing this feeling. In January I had to have one removed due to repeated infection! I assumed I would feel much more comfortable without it- but I didn't! 5 weeks ago I finally had the silicone implants put it. Again I thought it would feel more comfortable - but it isn't! Has anyone else experienced this? I don't feel it is the norm because I constantly feel uncomfortable. I have recently been doing arm exercises 3 time s a day and this doesn't help either!
