I had surgery on May 27th to correct the dog ears which really turned out well! The plastic surgeon did put a large piece of mess in my abodomen so that I wouldn't get a bulge any where else. She really had to open up a large piece of my incision but I am happy with the results. As for my breast the swelling did go down and even though I chose a B cup so I wouldn't have to have surgery on my other breast, no other surgery is needed, they have the exact same shape, just getting used to no feeling in it. I did chose to not have a nipple sharing procedure which my doctor suggested. She gave me other options but don't want to mess with it..looks too perfect. May get a tatoo at some point but not sure yet. I just need to move on with my life at this point.
I am getting my nipple tattoo done on Monday and there is nothing on the info sheet about colouring my good boob at the same time. Is this what normally happens?. If so, I don't want to go through with it, as I don't want my normal boob having anything done to it. I had just assumed they matched the colour from my real one to my false one, if you know what I mean 😉
Thanks

Thanks for that information. `i was wondering about the "other nipple " too
Thanks - all very useful for me as a DIEP 'newbie' - sounds like we have had a similar experience with the tummy site scar. I have a couple of big points, at either end that are still very sensitive and making wearing any trousers jeans impossible as they stick up so proudly right where waistbands should lie!! I am a 'jeans girl' so am just thankful its not winter yet 🙂 anyway I think they are pretty easily rectified the more I look into it
Can I just check what you mean by" having the other nipple done first," please? Another lady I know who has had this op mentioned that order of things too I was too scared to ask further.... do you mean tatooing the good' (hate that term but can't think of anything better!!) nipple or replacing it too, to make matching easier?? Which sounds a bit grim....
I think I am up for the same as you in terms of revisions so good to know your recovery was OK - presume it was all under general??
thanks for sharing -
I will tell you that it did take a few months for my breast to settle and the swelling to go down. It just may decrease like mine did. Good luck
I am sixteen weeks after DIEP flap and have dog ears! They need a better name for that. Anyway, I will be having them fixed in two weeks. I will let you know how it goes. I did end up with a bulge in my lower abdomen just in the past two weeks which is basically a hernia and needs repaired so she will do both at the same time.
Hi
i have just been for my 6 month review with PS and have the same problems as yourself. I have dog ears at the ends of my stomach scar but cant say they pose a problem. i am however going for further surgery in about 6 months time to reduce my good side and also am having liposuction on my reconstruction to reduce that a bit and also fill in a dip i have along the top edge. When i get this done that will be me a year down the line as they like things to settle before any further changes. Hope this helps.
had revision to them?
Hi,
I am 5 weeks on from a diep reconstruction. Overall, everything has been far easier than I dared hope. But.. I have just stopped wearing the micropore tape and this seems to have been hiding two pointy, sore bits at both ends of my abdomen scar. I am back at work and struggling to wear anything other than my very few bits of left- over maternity wear!! (Which is a very bizarre feeling, 5 years on from my last baby!)
Has anyone else had this 'nuisance'? Or has any tips to reduce them? I'm a size 12 but after children had fair bit of spare tummy skin I guess at the edges this remains! Has anyone had surgically improved?
Finally, has anyone had contour revision to a diep flap to reduce fullness to reconstruction? I'm a bit overful on one side at the moment (at the top, as is common I've been toldl) I estimate about two cup sizes difference..if so how was it? General or local? Was the result worth extra surgery? I wonder if things will shrink much more!!
Thanks
