Hi, I now have details of Aly's funeral which will take place next Friday 21st September in Tewekesbury. Please PM me for further details as i will need to let the family know numbers. There will be a church service at 1pm followed by a private cremation. Sarah.x

I had an hour spare today and logged onto the internet and went time travelling back to the time when I first got in contact with Aly - and I read and re-read all the messages we sent to each other. Her diagnosis wasn't good from day one, she said that they thought she had had the cancer for a number of years and that it would eventually come back. But she stayed positive, or she did with me, and she seemed to be the same way in every post I've ever read - she was so fiesty!! Which is one of the reasons that I warmed to her straight away. Then in August last year she posted that the chemotherapy hadn't worked and there had been a spread.... But she never gave up, she fought it every single step of the way. I never ever saw a single message that suggested that she had, or ever would, give up. And she didn't. She fell on the battle field as a true warrior - one that I am proud to have known, and will never, ever forget.
And I thought I was all cried out.....guess not!

So shocked to hear this! 'Spoke' last week end when she came home from hospital and knew she was poorly but didn't expect to hear this news so quickly. My thoughts are with Alys family and friends, she was a strong funny compassionate woman, now at peace. RIP Etkins xx

I am hoping that I can get to Aly's funeral - if I do then I will be travelling from Preston Lancashire and heading down the M6 - happy to pick up anyone along the way who wants to join me.

I too have been following Aly'spost through my sisters fb acc. Aly and my sister were diagnosed with secondaries around the same time and I always used Aly's strength and fighting spirit to guide my sister, though i lost her 3 weeks ago. Aly you were a true inspiration to all those fighting this dreadful disease. Hope my sissy has a big hug for you up there xx

I'm someone else who started her cancer journey at the same time as Eltiks and I got to know her both here and on Facebook. She was a truly lovely lady, whose spirit, wit and sense of humour will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

So upset when I heard this terrible news tha morning.Aly/eltiks was diagnosed around the same time as me, with similar prognosis at the time. I'm so shocked how quickly this horrible disease has taken her once it went secondary. It was only a few days ago that she was joking with me about losing her hair again and now shes gone. Aly thankyou for the laughs, e black sense of humour, the tears and the support youve given us all, even when you were suffering perhaps much more than we were. Ive been in tears all morning since hearing via facebook. Im so sad for your family, your children, grandchIldren, pricey and your friends, esp your beastie. Shock doesnt even begin to cover it. I am not reLigious in any way, but if there is something after life, in whatever form, then i hope you are gobbing off at them for taking you so young and i hope you have some peace. Devastating news - Elttiks was one of the funniest, strongest most supportive people on these forums, and even after her secondary diagnosis managed to make others feel better. The only sense of relief is that her recent suffering is now ended and she can rest peacefully.
