Re: Embarking on an adventure, you are welcome to tag along

Thanks Karen for your UTM, as you say, at least the sun is shining.
Carol, I am glad you had a good break.

Unfortunately it's not here and I have been feeing....well.......you lot know........... I think it is because my 3 month appointment with my onc is next week........and I miss my Mum, and I miss my husband, and I am working hard and I have decided it is time number 2 son needs to leave home, but I thought it would take a long long time to find somewhere, but I have just had a phone call to visit somewhere where there may be a place for him this summer. OMG I feel so alone...........

Hope everyone is feeling better than me

Re: Embarking on an adventure, you are welcome to tag along

Hi hope everyone is/has had as good a BH week-end as poss.
Sandra hope you had good celebrations with OH does that mean that he and Heather are twins? Or are their birthdays a day apart? Prob with getting onto FB was that it did not recognise my mobile broadband so after using up a lot of energy and patience I gave up plus it locked me out for having too many goes the other evening lol. But hey was shamed into having another go tonight and looks like I’m logged in 1st go too.
Karen wow Take that sounds a great gig. I understand that they have been brill from all accounts. What a lovely man Karl is doing the driving so you and Mary could sleep.Hope you are not too shattered.
Isabelle have you phoned your BCN about your results. I seem to remember you had to wait ages for rads too was it?
Got loads of gardening done and it has rained just enough for me not to have to do any watering. Thank goodness for BH week-ends I have really needed them to recover from work lol.
I was hanging on until Heather’s Lola Mae arrived to give my nice bit of news. My daughter is pregnant due mid Nov. I had an inkling when we went to the GC in StAlbans and found out for def the next day but sworn to secrecy until after the 12 week scan. So lucky me will have had 2 g-c by the time the year is over.
Is Carol back from IOW?
Suze are you packed yet? Not sure when you are going poss July in school hols. Hope Vicki is/has enjoyed Corralejo.
Car stories- reminds me that many years ago I had a purple Marina aka The Tank. I came off a late shift one evening and got into the car ( no remote locking then ) turned the engine on and then thought the seats were a bit strange oh they had sheepskin covers on them, how did they get there? Whoops not my car. Jumped out hoping no one had seen me and got into my own car next but one along.
Any way if any one wants to invite me as a friend onto FB I am there I think.
All thanks to our lovely Nell who some while ago sent me a detailed step by step list of how to get on and maintain privacy too.
Love to all and holding hands tightly to all my VF. Jackie

Re: Embarking on an adventure, you are welcome to tag along

hi ladies,

well it has been a very busy weekend with Take That on Friday and Olly Murs last night and a house viewing in between !!

Take That was amazing and I was so lucky being able to swap my tickets with a good mate as I was supposed to go on 11th June which i wouldn't be able to do now as it is 2 days after my surgery. We didn't get home till 3:30am so were shattered. Carl insisted on driving us as he knows how exhausted I am so at least Mary and I could sleep in the car.

Got up at 8:30 Saturday to tidy the house before the viewing and the hoover stopped working. £75 later I had a new one and managed to get the house spick and span but don't think the viewer was serious. He was only here for 10 minutes !!!

So Olly Murs last night and he was very good but not a patch on Take That though we enjoyed it.

Just managed to get a justgiving page going on Facebook for Race for Life courtesy of Sandra nagging me !!!

love to all

Thanks every one for your birthday wishes, no Ive passed the big 0 one, I am 60 plus 2 lol dont feel it somedays, then others I feel 90 plus 2 lol.
Hope your OH as a lovely birthday today Sandra, enjoy your meal, then your sleep over with your 4 little angels.
Hubbys parents coming for lunch today, FIL starts his chemo on Wednesday, and he is not sure how he is going to feel. So they have come up today to do shopping for bingo presents. Mil runs a bingo in the village, and our local town as quite a few shops were she can get prizes a lot cheaper. She tries to get things at a good price because with the profit she makes she sends it to 3 local schools for the activitys.
Well I have got a busy week, I have got my last assighnment to do for my creative writing course, that as to be in by Wednesday. Then on Wednesday my daughter is taking me shopping. I had some money for my birthday so I am going to see if there is any Bessie Bunter clothes about lol I am going on my scooter thing with her for the first time, I dont know how I will get on, because I still get stuck round clothing rails, and getting in lifts but hubby drags me out, I dont think she will be able to do that, so it will be a laugh. Then we will be going down to Banbury to see how FIl is getting on after his chemo. I will let you know how I get on.
Well ladies have a nice bank holiday, and Jackie you can do it if I can.
Take care,
Love Heather,

Re: Embarking on an adventure, you are welcome to tag along

Hi Ladies, well I have been missing for a few days, and talk of bulls called Elvis VRmmmmm, and fallen angels, wondered if I had strayed on to a porno thread lol
Well I have had a nice couple of days, but on saying that its been sad and happy, my emotions are all over the place. It was my birthday yesterday,my family came with cakes and some lovely presents, my friend bought me a lovely boquet and the perfume is strong you can smell them as soon as you walk in. Then today been to Banbury, so had another load of presents, one of the nicest though was a lovely plant, and a photograph, and a birthday card to a special grandma, off our new grandaughter. The girls were all at Nikkis, we took cakes and it was a lovely couple of hours, no wonder I cant lose the weight.
We had a bit of a sad visit though, hubbys dads cancer is worse than we thought, he starts chemo next week. Then in July he has is prostrate and bladder removed, the consultantant told him Tuesday that his prognosis was a 50% chance for him to be here in 3 years. It is very difficult at the moment though because we are so happy for Nikki, but so worried about FIL. The thing is they are a bit concerned about how he will react to the chemo because he as had to big heart attacks, but he as got to have the chemo so he can have the operation. But he is quite positive today, was a bit shell shocked Tuesday, but he is accepting it bit more today.
I still managed to make him laugh with my stupidity though this week, well the first one wasn't actually me, but I won a prize in the school summer fair raffle. Now you know about mobilty, and how I struggle to walk, stand sometimes, well I won £50 worth of kick boxing vouchers, my daughter was wetting herself laughing. They weren't any good for my grandchildren, and my son teaches it, so they let me chose something else, so I had a wine happer with some lovely wine in. Then the other day Nikki rang, she wanted to speak to me and hubby passed me the phone, well I thought she is talking really quiet perhaps baby is asleep. So after about 15 mins said Bye took the phone from my ear looked at it and I had been holding the phone upside down I was talking into the listen bit. Hubby rang Nikki to see I was quiet on the phone and she said yes it sounded like i was talking from a long way away, when hubby told her what I ahd done she was laughing that much she was pulling her stiches. When I was there today she said no more of your stories please I had my stiches out yesterday lol It cheered FIl up when we told him about it, so you see I am in a strange place at the minute.
Oh and last night,(think I have told you we live in a small village surronded by fields) well I was up at 1 30am as useuall, then heard sirens there was flashing light ect. Got hubby up and there were police and firemen at a bungalow nearly oppersite to us. So we were looking out of the window and saw lots of people running around, then after a while it calmed down, fire engine went hubby went back to bed. Then this morning the police were going to everyones house, somebody had tried to set fire to the bungalow, they had poured something through the letter box. I don't really know the people that live there, there is an elderly couple and a middle aged bloke but you never really see them. You cant see the bungalow properly because it is surrounded by trees and bushes, they asked if I had seen or heard anything, but I hadn't, so you see I have had a busy week.
Well Ladies have a good weekend,
Love Heather,

Re: Embarking on an adventure, you are welcome to tag along

Nell and Sandra !! Pack it in ,naughty ! What with trampolines and bikes , now you´re on about Vrmm vrmm´s . Maria will need a translation from you two soon , thats if the mods will allow it !!
I was really tickled Isabelle when I read that your GS is being taken to the auction by his dad ! Thats a new one on me , wish I´d thought of that when mine were little !! Must remeber to tell my GS , " if you¨re not a good boy for nanny , I will take you to the auction ,and see how much i can get for you ! " Brill Isabelle , I have to save up all your good ideas for when I go home to look after them .
I´m sure you are right , no news is good news , cos when you hear straight away , s we all know , it´s BAD news , we´ve been there , and I know Karen is going there again,,but at least it´s been picked up very early , so it shows that they are keeping a really good watch over us all. Better pick things up sooner than later .
I object to being described as "long in the tooth ." Suprised Sandra did´çnt pick up on that , but she was too busy thinking dirty thoughts about vrmm vrmmm´s and big bulls . We are girls . I don´t feel old enough to be anything else . ( my body does , but not me !!)
Envy you 8 days in Paris , I love Paris , lived there for 18 months after we left Saudi , I just adore the city . Went back with girlfriends about three years ago and we had a whale of a time , ( especially for "oldies " !!)
saw my little Archie today , met him at the vets for his rabies and microchip , what a dear loving little soul he is , whoever left him on the side of the road , well I wonñ´t say what I wish , but it´s very negative , in fact it´s pretty criminal !!
Market tomorrow , see if i can find any more "angels " flying around . Bet they won´t be 3euros though .Must keep my hand on my handbag , was told today that three ladies I know , have all had their purses stolen out of their bags in shops . Apparently someone asks you to reach up to get something , and while you do your act of kindness their friend pinches your purse . Rumanians mainly .
off now ,

Re: Embarking on an adventure, you are welcome to tag along

Hello ladies,
I'm pleased to hear Vickie got on her hols. We are going to Paris for 8 days on the 6th June, hope the ash cloud is gone by then!
Maria, I've been working lots latley and my boss rang me today to do more work before and after my hols. Never mind it will pay for the next one! I'm hoping to go away about October for a girls week maybe a last minute cheapy cruise or something, ( don't know about calling us girls, bit long in the tooth for that!) any excuse for a holiday. Most of the lambing is finished now , just a few stragglers, and a few cows left to calve. We got a new bull on Saturday his name is Elvis!!!He had that name when we bought him, he's a loverly big boy and is now in a field full of girlfriends...enjoying himself.
Karen, I hope you are doing ok today, lots of big hugs, thinking of you, take care xxx
Nell, your boy is really doing great at school is'nt he? You must be very proud of him. I hope you are well today xxx
I've had a day full of gc's today, oldest one staying with us tonight and he's off to the auction with his dad and OH tommorrow.
I'm still waiting for my mammo results, ten days now, last year I was called back after 3 days so I reckon no news must be good news! Will have to wait and see...
I hope everyone has had a good day,
Lots of hugs and best wishes to my vf,

Re: Embarking on an adventure, you are welcome to tag along

Thanks Kanga for the translation. Sorry to hear about your fallen angel
As for pills you are so right. Think about it, none of us was "ill" when we got our bc diagnosis. But the treatment made us feel more ill than we had ever been and left us with all sorts of side effects.
Dee, you must be so proud of your son, I hope he has realised how much he has achieved. I never left no 2 son ever (except with his Dad or brother) until my husband was ill, so I don't feel guilty thank goodness, well not very, anyway !
Jill, I hope you manage to get on fb soon.
Suze, thanks for the UTM
sIabelle, i hope you are not working to hard, I expect all the farm babies are born now.
Hi to everyone else too. Hugs

No 1 son coming tomorrow with pfdil, so I am in for a lovely, if not busy, weekend.

Re: Embarking on an adventure, you are welcome to tag along

Can I really re-write all that ? Well I´ll have a go !
Maria , are you telling me that after all this time you cannot speak Kangaeese ?

jack and Jill , thats our Jackie and Jill , sandra was saying and Nell that it was a shame that they were´nt using FB . Pails of water is what they were supposed to be getting in the nursery rhymne , and i said i hoped there was none around cos I´ve dropped everything Içve touched lately , and that it did´nt end up in the condition in which I dropped it .Too many late nights Maria ! So come on Jackie and Jill we want to see you on Fb as well as here!
Angels don´t fly , well thats because I dropped my angel and it definately did´nt fly , nor did it bounce ! It was definately one fallen angel .
What was it ?
My new bottle of Angel perfume .And before you all start comiserating on the loss of such an expensive article , i have to hold my hands up and admit that I bought it at the market for 3 euros ! And , it was a big bottle . Now you would think that at that price it would be rank , not a bit of it , really good stuff this was . It cleaned the floor brilliantly , got rid of all the marks on the tiles. I soaked it up with a big bath towel that I had just used as I got out of the shower ,then the towel was put out into the garage ( where the washing ,machine etc is ) you would think that after a couple of days it would reek , but it´s not , it actually smells absolutely lovely in there . So bum !! That was obviously really good cheap stuff .
Brilliant news about your son Nell , I bet he´s thrilled to bits and I can imagine how proud of him you must be . Yes , give jill a poke and get her onto FB , not that I want to leave this forum , it´s meant so much to me over the last twelve months .
Karen , I know you are posting more on Fb , but I hope you are getting all the help and strengh you need from everybody . You´re not alone , we are all behind you , not much consolation , but you are beooing looked after , we all are now , the slightest thing and we can go and ask for help or tests or advice .Chin up karen .
Good old Vickie , sunning herself , hope she´s got better weather in her part of Spain , it´s raining again here today , yet yesterday was fantastic . Of course that was the day i had to go to the hospital in Malaga , see the radiotherapist , long day , so busy in the oncology side of it , awful really to see all these people , some of them begining their journey . Certainly not all gloom and doom however , how could it be in a spanish waiting room , everyone seems to bring their whole extended family ( except moi !) and the noise level !! Unbeleivable , sorry my spelling hgas gone all to cock tonight , I´m getting tired . Anyway , i´m ok , although they mentioned my liver as well , but the ecogrfica I had was ok , so it must be just the pills .
That was the other thing I was rabbling on about Maria , pills . cos I firmly believe that sometimes the pills can be more of a problem than the disease , or thats how it seems at times , me and pills do not get on .
Speak to you all soon ,

Re: Embarking on an adventure, you are welcome to tag along

Morning all...

Jill yes my son had mock SATS this year as a 'benchmarker' to see how he'd cope next year and whether he'd be able to cope with exams etc, as not all the kids in the school have the abilty because of their disabilty if that makes sense. The head thinks he has the potential which is why I agreed to let him sit them; he was a bit stressed up about it though but I did my best to calm him and he got through - and passed! Not the best grades, but hey he did it and I'm really proud of him for getting that far with everything else he has to deal with!
How did your son get on? and have you calmed down now lol?
School holidays here next week - Argghhh.....

Yes V got away and her last post on FB was that she was relaxing with a sangria or two and the boys were in the pool - nice seeing the photos too of them enjoying themselves.

Re FB will PM you with lots of info to get you started .......

So glad you had a good weekend Maria and managed to get some quality 'me time'
It's funny but I always feel 'guilty' for enjoying myself when I leave my son overnight - despite needing the break! Can't win sometimes can you! At least it gives us chance to recharge our batteries!

((((HUGS)))) to Karen; thinking of you xx

and a massive hello an (((Hugs))) to everybody else.

Love to all, Nell xxx

Re: Embarking on an adventure, you are welcome to tag along

I presume Vickie got away no probs, otherwise we would have heard.

Maria - glad your weekend was successful, hopefully son no 2 will be more relaxed about it next time.

My son is in the middle of his exams, he seems to be totally laid back about it all, it's me that is getting all stressed! Denise - does your son have any exams this year as well?

Kanga - lovely to see your photo and as usual I love your posts - never a dull moment.

Hi to everyone else, I am still thinking about coming to find you all on Facebook but haven't a clue how to go about it.

Re: Embarking on an adventure, you are welcome to tag along

Sandra, yes I can be asked to visit bc patients and of course they are the ones that are not well, so my perception of bc was some-what negative before I got it myself and realised most people get better again. However if I found it really difficult, a colleague could go instead. They are very understanding. It is the same caring for men with prostate cancer, as that was what my husband had. Some of my patient's know why I did not work last year, but most don't.
Vickie, this ash cloud reminds me of our time last year, it is just such a pain, I do hope you manage your holiday. Keep packing anyway.
Kanga, either i am going batty or you are, I did not understand your post at all (LOL)
Suze, I love the trampolineing girl.
Karen, I know what you mean about coming down off your cloud, but You Can Do It.

Hope everyone is OK, I am feeling fine. My weekend was a success for me. However I don't think I managed to convince no 2 son that I was not going to hospital and he was a little apprehensive. I am hoping he will feel better about it in June.
Hugs Maria

Re: Embarking on an adventure, you are welcome to tag along

Wonderul news Karen , all our wishes flying over the airwaves must have worked , unfortunately we caused the volcano to erupt ! Whoops !!
Best news ever , you know you can do the treatment , done it before , you can do it again , not nice , but certainly do able , and we´ll all be with you every step of the way .I did check Fb this morning .
Cute little girl Heather , yet another one to spoil !
Sandra , What are you doing , we keep telling you to go steady , trampolines, bikes , no wonder your arm feels better , you´re head hurts so much !As another who suffers migraines , I really feel for you , so debilitating . Still at least your arm now moves enough to take your migraine tablets , what do you take , I take Zomig .
Reading about your friend on Arimidex , they say that all the AI´s can have that effect , hence the bone density scans . It´s a real worry is´nt it ? It clears the cancer , but then you break your hip , get pneumonia and die from that !! Ok , so thats the worse case scenario , but ............ I certainly cannot say that I´m as fit as I was before I started taking these b***** pills , pigging hate them !!
Angels Don´t Fly !! Thats definate !
It was very definately a Kanga moment , and I will tell you all about it another day .
I know we´re waiting to get Jack and Jill on the FB , I´m going to try to get Jackie on it later . However , if there´s any pails of water involved , please keep me out of it , I´ve very definately got the dropsies at the moment , every thing I touch ends up on the floor , not neccesarily in the condition it left my hand !!
I must have missed something , where are you off to Vickie , or not as the case may be ?
Off to my inbox and then FB .
luv to you all , especiall kisses to Karen xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi K, Gosh what a relief! been thinking about you all weekend and this morning, Hence l have had a migraine today!! not had one of those since before bc! so l can blame you!!
But really really pleased for you. xxx

Oh yes K still waiting for your sponsorship to appear!! xxx

Well my bike has been in the garage since two days after l fell off it!! woke up two days later and couldn't straighten or bend the arm. it was so painful, saw the nurse at the doctors she said to wear a sling until the swelling and bruising has gone, my arm was black and blue, from just above the wrist to the top of the arm. But today l woke with a migraine but the arm was feeling a lot better! probably because my head was hurting so much! Anyway l can now get my hand up to my mouth!!

Spoke to a lady about my nails last week, she has a beauty shop and she suggested painting a gel on them to strengthen them, which she has now done, and they look and feel strong!

I can put my fingers through my hair now and feel it!! so it must be getting longer, still not happy with it, but it is coming along.

Heather hope Mummy and Daddy are getting sleep!! not sure about the saying Jumping over a dolls house, l knew it as 'l am so happy l could jump off a dolls house' but whatever l know what you mean! but don't try it, knowing your luck you will go through the roof of fall on the dog!!

Maria, Question l keep meaning to ask! if you don't mind!! do you visit ladies that have been treated with bc? just wondered how difficult that was!

Vickie, Really hope you get your flight! who would have thought it would happen again this year. I remember reading about our Gill last year! what a nightmare!

Jackie and Jill, where are you, missing you on face book!

A friend of mine is on Arimidex, been on it for about 9 months now, she had a blood test last week, when she saw the onc he said good news and bad news, good news no spread, bad news the Arimidex is causing a lot of damage to your bones so may have to stop it!! she is to have another bone density scan then he will speak to his chief! said there wasn't anything else suitable! doesn't seem possible does it? never thought it would do that much damage. She does a lot of walking and dancing, but has been told to stop dancing and as little walking as possible!

Gosh really surprised l never lost my wig today, it has been so windy!! got staying power this wig!!

Hugs and have a drink on me K, well have two!!

Love

Hi,

can't get onto facebook from work so thought I would at least let you know on here !!

IT HASN'T SPREAD ..... the best news I could have hoped for

My operation is on 9th June and then will find out if I need rads after it is analysed.

So despite having cancer again I still feel very relieved.

Re: Embarking on an adventure, you are welcome to tag along

Thank you ladies for all your best wishes, Nikki is hoping to come home today. We have told her though she as to be careful, she can't lift anything heavier than baby. I have told her stay in PJs and just potter around, then go back to bed when she feels tired. I know if I am having a bad day that is what I find best for me, if I get dressed I think oh I will do that, then I will do that and end up feeling much worse. We are going down later this week when she as had time to settle in, I dont think you need a house full of visitors when you first get home. Can't wait to see her being mummy, she will be fantastic mum. I had to laugh at her because Nikki is the one that is always prepared, she has my birthday present and card ready, but it says from 'pip' that is what we called baby while she was in mummys tummy, and she wasn't due to be born till the day after my birthday. It is also her neices birthday on the 31st, her card and present are all wrapped and ready to go. She is always the first to ask what we want for birthdays Christmas etc, but she wasn't prepared for baby to make an early entry into the world. She hadn't washed her hair that day which she does everyday, and hubby hadn't got no petrol in the car, because he always fills his car up on Saturday, so they had to call at the garage lol
Karen, hugs and really good luck today 🙂 (((((((( hugs ))))))))
Take care everyone,
Love Heather,
