I hope you dont mind me posting on here! My mum has secondary Breast cancer and I was following this thread and want to say how wonderful you are!! I am trying really hard to organise a small trip away for my mum but finding it really hard to work around her illness, even just a night away in this country seems a challange. I didn't even know she would be able to get travel insurance so I just wanted to say thankyou for showing me that it's all possible.

Hi Anne, Excellent of course you are welcome to join us, if you have any freinds that may also be interested they are also welcome or family.

The price is 465.00 Price is full board plus excursions included..

The only thing you have to do yourself is arrange your flights,

The deposit is 100.00 pounds per person. im not sure when the final amount is due I will check with Hannah, She is the owner of las Piedras hote.

The dates are 16th to 23rd. flying into Malaga Airport, there you will be greeted by las piedras staff.

There are currently 2 officially booked Sharon and fiona who are lovely ladies... So if you do know of anyone else who would love a fab holiday please feel free to invite them...

You are correct the hotel is situated in the most stunning area, the views are breathtaking.

Just been looking at this thread and am sorely tempted to join you all if there are still places.I wanted to check if it would be ok for a secondaries lady to join you - have been NED for 17 months now and currently just on Arimidex and Zoladex. I have my next scan on 26th April so would have to wait until the results of these (28th)and to work out my poor finances before I can confirm but just wanted to put feelers out.
I had a fab week in Andalucia last summer and another fab week in Jan near Iznajar with 6 great new friends and it's so beautiful. The website looks amazing and really peaceful. It was my 40th in Feb so am celebrating this year big style so if I recon I can save enough money for it after my Greek holiday in June I'd definitely love to join you all.Please could you let me know how much it is - I think I saw the figure £420 or £465 earlier in the thread.What deposit would I need and when would the balance be due and I'll get to work on my sums(I only work 6 hours a week now and depend largely on benefits but very much live for the moment and nice holidays and company!!)if you've room for a little one (me I mean!!)
How many are confirmed so far and am I right in thinking it's the 16th-23rd September?

Hi Teresa,

Sharon is doing fine, she was down in London this week getting new chemo on the trial..she's back home now and starts taking medication next week...we've all got fingers crossed!!!... There might be another Lady interested in the holiday, She lives near me and I've met her in my wig shop. She's just started chemo but I've sent her a copy of the booking that Hannah sent me and my flight details...will keep you posted..

Glad to hear your getting there and enjoying the wine. Just sleep when your body tells you.

I've been enjoying the red wine a little too much while on Chemo this time. I feel really lucky this time as I don't feel like I'm on chemo.

6th Chemo was on Frid, hair is just thining a bit, i should have lost it all by now. Had CT Scan this morn so I'll hopefully get results when I'm back at ONC on Thurs.

This holiday is giving me a focus and I'm so looking forward to it, Flights and deposit all booked

Has anyone been abroad during chemo?
My OH & I have a holday booked in April. My onc said that if I felt ok I could go and he would organise chemo dates round holiday.
I am in 2 minds - obviously would love to go and OH really deserves a break - bless him. However i'm scared of what would happen if I was unwell etc. Would be really grateful for any of your experiences

Hi Lella, I do beleive one or two will still be going through chemo at this time, I if everything goes to plan, fingers crossed will then be finished chemo but on my 36 days of Rads, but I live here so I will go and have my rads then catch up with the girls after.

It´s a real shame that you can´t do this year as you are feeling so isolated, I havn´t met any of the girls before but through this forum know we are all going to get along so well, do think about it there are lots of spaces still available,

You could try posting a seperate thread Holidays and chemo, I´m sure you will get all the advice you need.

My only advice to you is we do have a nurse at the hotel we can call upon 24/7 and a ER within 10 minutes away, just in case, this is worth looking into as to how far away you have to travel incase you need it.

Your Spanish holiday sounds fantastic - I would love to join you all as I feel really isolated - and you all look great fun! Unfortunately for various reasons couldn't do it this year but hopefully another time?

I hope you don't mind me asking, but will any of your friends be having chemo at the time of the holiday? My OH and I have a holiday abroad booked (pre DX) for April. I will have had my 3rd chemo by then. I've asked my onc and he said if I felt like it I could go and he'd arrange sessions round date. However I'd like to hear from ladies who have actaually been abroad during chemo - how they prepared for it, how they coped etc..

Have great time - what a brill thing to look forward to - your pool-side pamper session makes me drool!!!!

Just to update if anyone interested in a weeks holiday in glorious spain, they can accomodate in total 15 women, details as follows:

The hotel is situated south of Malaga, large pool, BAR.... All rooms fully air con etc... Foods fantastic! Hospitality brilliant! Day excursions...

Prices are;
PACKAGES
If there are 8 people or moreof us they could do a per person package.....
Full Board with airport transfers 420 pounds per person (no excursions) or
Full Board with airport transfers and excursions 465 pounds per person.
OR
They will also let us have the full run of the hotel self catering full use of kitchen etc for 1800 pounds for the week upto 15 ladies so this would work out approx 120 pounds each.(as long as we fill the hotel 15 ladies)

I think the prices are very good, You could also bring a friend or friends etc...

Anyone interested in the greatest party week in Spain let me know!

Hello, Sorry I havn´t been around all afternoon, absolutely cream crackered, Chemo knocked the sh-- out of me today! BUT BACK ON TRACK NOW GIRLS...

WELL DONE FIONA..... It feels so good to be doing something, you know what I mean to plan something we all know we can acheive and I don´t know about you but it´s given me a goal!

Fiona, when you have the time forward the flight details on to Hannah at the hotel, she can then keep logues on arrival times..

sharon i just put in too... but watch with easyjet the £57.99 came up as the 15th of sept and was £67.99 for 16th... both them and ryanair work out roughly the same approx £155 return including a suitcase in the hold, but not including debit/credit card charges.

however there are only 3 seats available on the edinburgh flight so half tempted just to book.... LOL

Hi sharon, excellent, Hannahs, desserts are famous in this area, lots of cream and chocolate cakes to die for! Tiramasou one of my favorites!

On the Sunday you normally have a BBQ in the afternoon, lots of wine flowing sitting on the terrace, beautiful views, Oh its close to be heaven!

I would do full board, I love cooking but not on holiday, prefer someone else to do it for us 🙂 I love spanish food

At moment I can fly Easyjet from Glasgow for £57.99 one way and Ryanair from Edinburgh for £62 plus loads charges, so I'll prob book Easyjet.

Hi, Sharon, Glad to here you are still interested, I´m waiting for Hannah to reply to me I e-mailed her this afternoon, (Hannah by the way the owner of the Hotel) I know the deposit is 100.00 Pounds per person.

The airport really depends on which is your closest to where you live, from there you need to go to Malaga Airport where the hotel staff will be awaiting you to transfer you to the hotel, the flight you have to pay for as with all holidays like this, the transfer from Malaga airport to the hotel is included in the cost of your holiday.

If you start looking now easyjet and monarch have some great flight bargains... If you need help looking for your flights let me know which ariport your flight is.

Full board with excursions 465.00 for the week
Full board no excursions 420.00

But you can decide this on arrival.

Or if everyone agrees you can go self catering which means you buy and cook all your own food, pay for your excursions etc seperate, my advice is to go full board the foods great, and saves on alot of fuss cooking in a hot, hot, kitchen.

I hope this helps, as soon as I know when the deposits are needed I will let everyone know.
