Hi Rosie, I can't say that them pills helped much but they did ease it off a bit. The doc also gave me some pain killers that where surpose to stop it but I never took them. I still get the diorea now and I have finished chemo. But I can't eat much so not got a lot to poop out lol lol. Do you live in Cyprus or are you on holiday? You lucky girl lol X X X

Re: February 2016 starters

Hi Daisy I have popped on from April 14.
Half way theough my chemo I had issues when everything went straight through me! The important thing is to drink plenty of fluids. I was put on a bread, fish and broth diet! But it still went through me! Eventually I became very weak and spent 3 days in hospital on a drip. I was then introduced to broth and bread after 3 days I could eat fish/ rice / lactose free cheese and crackers!!! I then went back onto veg and after about a week was eating anything I wanted! The important thing is to ensure you are putting plenty of fluids back. I went through about 20 cans of lentil soup I found this both comforting and filling! It is only temporary and it will pass. Please do see a doctor if you become very weak so you can be helped immediately! I let it go on too long!
Good luck keep going!πŸ’

Re: February 2016 starters

Hi all,

I am now nearly 4 weeks on since my last chemo. I have lost most of my eyelashes and eyebrows but they will grow back. I cold capped but still lost 60% of my hair, it is coming back very slowly. I have made sure I am walking every day and don't seem to need a sleep during the day which is good. I am having an operation on Wednesday ....wide local excision. Just seem to be wading through appointments but enjoy crossing them off !!!!!! I hope you all recover from the side effects quickly.....it really is the greatest feeling when chemo comes to an end. I'm sending you all lots of love and hugs. Xxx

Re: February 2016 starters

Hello All,

On Wednesday I have my last chemo. This will be the end of the chemo journey but the next will be the journey after BC. I am OK but have my moments especially when I look in the mirror and play 'spot the eyelash'. Hair is growing back but not fast enough. Exercise has well and truly kicked off with alternating days of a 4km brisk walk and a 2km jog, not too far or fast, just getting those muscles working. I can't face the gym yet with not much hair etc and there is no way I am going to the gym with a wig!!

I won't be having rads due to no lymph node involvement nor vascular invasion, it was very localised, I was lucky considering it was a grade 3 IDC. Will be on tax of course!

Good Luck to you girls who are still in the middle of it all it sucks donkey balls but with every day you get closer to the finish line.

See you on the 'other side'!

I cannot wait until a few weeks time when I am climbing that ladder knowing I'm not going to have to do it again, if I wasn't so spaced out exhausted and aching I'd come pick u all up for a conga round the country (I'm not excited really)!!!

Re: February 2016 starters

Afternoon ladies as you can see I have got white wispy hair lol lol in the sun it shines. Still getting bad SE even though I got another reduction in my T. I feel like I have just spent the last 5 months on the loo. No mater what they give me straight through like the euro tunnel. Still can't eat no taste so I don't want food. I have had some numbing in my hand and legs what's that all about.

20th June of for CT scan as par for the course. Then doc to discuss my operation.

I so want to feel normal again girls I am to old for all this crap.

hope your all ok.

Here's hoping you don't need to stay in hospital! In a 'Columbo' stylee, 'just one more set of side effects' and that'll be it!!

Speedy Recovery to you Emma and all!

Re: February 2016 starters

Hope your happy first time Ali.

I had my final t today and think the Se have kicked in already absolutely knackered but that also could be steroid induced lack of sleep last night! Thank goodness this stage is almost over just Se week and whether I get another night stay in my local hospital always seems to happen on the thurs after but we'll see.
Good luck ladies

Re: February 2016 starters

Hello Ladies,

I am due my last T this coming Wednesday - can't wait. No rads for me just tamoxifen but looking forward to new boob. Currently have an expander in to stretch the muscle (traditional implants tend to be put in under pec muscle to protect it) and make it the right 'drop' for the silicone implant. I hope it will look symmetrical. Could be in for the long haul if I am not happy with the shape etc.

Hi ladies how are we coping with the heat and the side effects. I'm off for final t tomorrow bit of a strange feeling can't wait to get it all done and dusted but really don't want the side effects and the trip to hospital on day 5 as I have with the last two doses (high temp). Soon be moving on to out next stage 20 rads 17 doses of herceptin and tamoxifen for me. How about everyone else?

Re: February 2016 starters

Morning Tulily, I had my last T on the 2nd June, se kicked in yesterday feel like rubbish. Can't eat yet again food makes me want to vomit.

I keep telling myself in 3 weeks I am going to feel better. Good luck for today. For me it was such a relief when they took my canular out and I was out the chemo unit door.

Now have to wait for the rest of hospital appointments for the operation and rads.

Its been a big struggle for us all but we are nearing the end now.

Re: February 2016 starters

Last day of chemo today and am already wide awake after having a late night (for me at the moment) thanks to steroids and Game of Thrones which I have to watch when everyone else has gone to bed... Think I may be tired later! Not looking forward to the next three weeks and I'm probably going to miss a few of the children's events BUT last three weeks of awfulness; it is truly so hard to explain to people how awful this is.

Radiotherapy next - joy, but my main mission is to lose all this extra weight and climb the ladder to feeling me again!!

Re: February 2016 starters

Sorry to hear that Collista... Hope they sorted your line. How are you feeling now? I had my penultimate T Thursday so one more after this. Side effects started this am, but I know what to expect and even better that they will go and I will have some good days before last chemo! My weight gain is annoying... Now up to 9 stone 9 put on 8 lbs but I think some of that will go when the steroids leave my system. Trying to eat healthily and did a walk and garden yest. Love to all, keep smiling... πŸ’—

Re: February 2016 starters

Dear All,

I am still hanging in there! Had my last T yesterday and now waiting for the SEs to kick in, usually tomorrow afternoon, then I shall take to my bed for a few days! Will have to continue with three weekly Herceptin until about mid March.

Due to have surgery next then rads but haven't had an appointment yet, will have to ring my BC nurse if I haven't heard soon.

As you have all said we will still need everyone's support to get through to the end! Take care of yourselves. Xxx

Re: February 2016 starters

Hi all
Definitely still around. ☺ . I have had surgery and chemo now rads, hormone therapy and futher surgery at some point in the future. Had mammoplasty so am having large reduced. Likely to be early next year so will continue to sport little and large until then.
Glad so many of us are coming to the end of chemo. I am seriously beginning to reclaim my life. Though not managed to kayak yet, more to do with the state of the north sea than my ability. Here's hoping for calmer waters next week. Would love to get in a paddle before rads start. Have been told probably not a good idea once treatment has begun. Think it's to do with wearing a wetsuit. If we get some calm seas will probably risk it but will wear my drysuit. Played racquet ball again today managed 35mins and was definitely less pedestrian than yesterday, though I didn't win a game. πŸ˜• .
Glad to hear you are doing ok Carol.
Keep talking everyone really want to hear how you all are doing.
Hugs

Hi Jan

all good here, out and about as much as I can. Of course still feel tired but don't actually sleep during the day. I am so glad you are getting on with life, can't believe we've actually finished chemo. It's been like wading through mud for the last few months. I am finding that getting out walking is helping and for building my muscles up. Good luck with the rads....I have my op in 2 weeks then rads. Big hugs xxx

Sue, I hope all went well, congrats on completing your chemo, yay...no more. Xxx

everyone else, just keep going you will get there and will surprise yourself how soon you will start to recover from the side effects. Xxx

Right ladies my song, and now the end is near and I must face my final curtain , I state my case of which I certain, I've live a life that full and traveled each and every high way, much more much more then this I did it my wayyyyyyyyyyy. Lol lol lol

steroids taken, ready for my last chemo tomorrow. How the hell I have got through this I don't know, Manys a time I wanted to give up but you all kept me going. Now got 3 weeks of feeling crap and that's that.

Had more get up and go to day due to the steroids, so got the house in order. Ironing done, hoovering done, kitchen floor cleaned oh yes and my second home washed as antibaced the bog.

toilet rolls a plenty.

Need to buy some food drinks as I know I won't want food for about 5 days.

Well ladies you all take care.

Re: February 2016 starters

Morning ladies.
How is everyone? Sorry not posted for a while. Now day 15 after last chemo and doing ok ☺ . Happy to be putting the chemo challenge behind me.
Way back in early January , when I started this thread, I felt so scared and alone but you all helped me through. So a big thank you to all you ladies . Your support and humour has been all that has kept me sane some days.
I am moving on to June rads now but keep checking in to see how everyone is doing. I know you are all coming to the end of this stage of treatment, the end is in sight. Not sure it feels like that sometimes but we all get there eventually. Keep talking and let us know how you are.

So for me, my life is beginning to become more normal, a very different normal but I am determined to do all I can to improve my mental and physical self. I am off for a couple of days in the north York moors next week before I start rads. Just wish my hair regrowth was better and I didn't need the wig! On a positive note it is growing all be it white and see through, so still sporting the bald look. πŸ˜• Planning on plenty of fresh air, good food (I can taste most things now πŸ‘ ) and the odd pint or 3. Yep that's "normal"!
Sending loads of hugs

Hi ladies hope we are all ok... The White tongue is thrush... Had that delightful S/E last cycle. Had oncology today and bloods were fine so chemo Thursday... The penultimate one! I also got stuff to soften poop as suffering from sore bum when I go. He said could be ulcers it a fissure 😁☹️Found that sudacrem helps. I can just about see that crack of light at the end of the tunnel... πŸ’ͺ🏼xxxx

Re: February 2016 starters

Well ladies went to see the surgeon today, no hope of a breast reduction, lumpectomy on the cards and nodes removed don't know how many. My last chemo Thursday at last. Then I have got to have radiotherapy. Sick of going to hospital. I also had pictures taken of my boobs from the neck down. I said to the doc they better not land up on face book. Lol  I forgot I had taken my wig off in the docs room and I didn't put it back on, the bloody looks you get. So next on the list is a CT scan then the op I surpose.

My hair looks like bum fluff lol.

Hope hope your all keeping as well as you can.

sue
