Feeling low

Hi - I had a dreadful cold for most of Decmber - and Jan which has now gone but I have been left with a dreaful cough. I am also feeling low and tired. I know I should go to my GP but for some reason I keep putting it off. Has anyone else felt low on Tamoxifen?

Hi there

I have most definitely had my moments on Tamoxifen! I have aching thumbs, ankles and knees and sometimes get very tearful. Tired too.

You must see your GP about your cold and cough, just to get yourself checked out. I don’t know if Tamoxifen can make you more susceptible to colds and things but it’s worth checking it out.

Hope you perk up soon.

Hi everyone,

I’m new to this website, but have been reading all the Tamoxifen discussions with interest. I started taking it on 17th January this year, and after 2 weeks started getting anxiety attacks, paranoia, crying fits, instant vaginal dryness and a genral feeling of being completely out of control emotionally.

I was initially on APS generic Tamoxifen, but persuaded my doctor to change me to Nolvadex on monday (4th Jan). Started it on Tuesday, and seemed OK, but then today the anxiety attacks came back, and the same feelings of paranoia and being out of control.

I’ve never suffered anxiety attacks before in my life, even after traumatic events, so feel they are ‘chemically’ induced. Has anyone else suffered such feelings? And if so, how did you cope?

My doctor told me it was all just the ‘trauma’ of my cancer diagnosis coupled with the induced menopausal symptoms, she told me “Even naturally menopausal women have to learn to put up with it”. Well, ‘naturally’ menopausal women can have HRT, and I’m not prepared to feel like I’m one step away from a complete nervous breakdown for the next five years!
