Re: Going to breast clinic In llandough what to expect

Hi mummy02,

I think your experience will entirely depend on your age & symptoms. I'm 31 in the uk and had a lump in the outer edge of my left Breast. I was called through to the u/s room where they did a quick physical exam followed by the u/s and a core biopsy. They did the symptomatic Breast first covering the lump & then the rest of the Breast & up into the armpit. They then did a quick scan of the other Breast. The core biopsy didn't hurt. They numbed the area waited a minute or so then took the samples (they took 3 from me). And it just feels like being prodded with like a pen or something. Due to my age I was advised that a mammogram would not be necessary.
Hope this helps and good luck with your appointment x x

Re: Going to breast clinic In llandough what to expect

Hi Mummy02
I hope the leaflet was helpful but I can tell you what happens at the Breast Clinic I have attended. It's in Scotland. First I saw a clinician who did a physical examination. I went back to a waiting room and was called in a few moments for a mammogram. In my case the tumour was small so I then had an ultrasound and doctor could not find the tumour and had to call another one in who did find it. They then decided to do a core biopsy which they did using the mammogram. It's wasn't sore but it's a bit ungainly as you sit in a chair! They might do the biopsy by ultrasound as I had that process later. The visit might well take about three hours. I hope that's helpful but I can try to answer your questions if you have any. Boa
