HER2 equivocal help

Re: HER2 equivocal help

I was dx back in 2007 so my information may be out of date by now, but as I remember when they do the first HER2 test, the results can come back as a yes, a no, or a maybe. If they are maybe, then a more detailed test is done - which can take a few weeks to come back. I had eight cycles of chemo, and I was near the end of that before they decided that I should have herceptin. Even then I was still quite borderline, but they erred on the side of caution and gave it to me

Re: HER2 equivocal help

Hi Ann,
I too think it means your test was borderline.... I had my hormone receptor tests re-done at the Christie after thinking I was pretty low on the hormone receptor scale and came back 6/8. I am also Her2+...happy to answer any questions I can if you'd like to pm me.
Love

Re: HER2 equivocal help

Hi Anne
I think it might mean that it is border line between being positive and negative , so they retest for accuracy
