Had my pre op assessment today

Re: Had my pre op assessment today

hi Roobie45, hope your op went well and you are now recovering at home.

I'm in a bit similar situation from speediness point of view - found a lump on 2nd Jan and managed to get to see GP on the day, saw BUPA consultant on 6th (had biopsies and was told there and then that it's looks to be cancer), initial tests confirmed on 8th Jan primary cancer in breast and secondary in the nodes and had lumpectomy & full nodes removal on 16th Jan.

Now recovering at home - still in pain and useless right arm for weeks to come I'm told.

I can't believe it's only been 3 weeks since I found the lump (3cm+ how could I have missed previously??? not that I was really checking but how ignorant can I be to miss it until it got really sore??)

It's been massive shock and I've been hell and back emotionally but agree the waiting is absolutely the worst but once I got the treatment plan I felt more in control again. I'm still waiting for my full pathology results on Tuesday but know already that I need chemo and rad therapy so this will be a long battle.

Hope you get your results quickly and have managed to get some sleep too x

Re: Had my pre op assessment today

Glad your able to get surgery quickly and hope all goes well. I have to wait for now, looks like we got results of biopsies on same day. I have my pre-op assessment tomorrow then try to stay busy until surgery day x

Re: Had my pre op assessment today

Hi Robbie
So sorry to hear your news. Yes, the waiting is the hardest. I was diagnosed with grade 1 invasive ductal BC 2 weeks ago and having my wide local excision and sentinel node biopsy and axilla lymph node sampling on 22/1. Then another 2 week wait for yet more results. Great you are in BUPA and having your op soon. Good luck for Monday. I have been trying to keep myself busy and have started sewing again. So machine out and one top made with second about to start! I was told after my repeat mammogram it looked malignant so I had prepared myself when I met with the surgeon. Talking to friends has been helpful and this site is brilliant! Take care and let me know how you get on.

Had my pre op assessment today

Found a lump on the 1st of Jan and have today confirmed it is cancer after the core biopsy results where in. God I'm so scared!! Can't stop feeling the worst, and crying all the time. Luckly Due to work I have BUPA and I'm booked in for local excision and 4 nodes removal on Monday. How anyone survives a 6 week wait is unthinkable.
