Re: Hello - I'm new

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply to me.

I'm 58 - found a lump (nearly 3 years since my last mammogram). After many scans etc I was told I have cancer in my right breast and also the bottom of my neck and under arm. I will be having chemotherapy for a few months starting quite soon I think, to see if it can be shrunk before surgery, which will be in February time. Then a couple of months of radiotherapy. I have an appoinment next week to get a schedule of treatment.

I'm so pleased for you that things went so well and look bright. Sorry I don't know what DCIS means.

Re: Hello - I'm new

Oh bless you.

i will give you my background first.

52 years old. First mammogram. A runner - 12 miles a week. Very fit and healthy, never ill.

I was diagnosed on the 22nd August 2013, I had surgery on Monday 30th September. I was told I had DCIS in the left breast and had to have a masectomy. The reason for this drastic surgery was that it was in 3 places and I have very small breasts - 32a. I had the operation and an immediate reconstruction. My breast looks fine, the operation went well and I was out Wednesday afternoon. I had to have 2 drains, one came out today. Today I  saw my surgeon who gave me the oncology report. I had cancer cells with the DC IS. They think they have got it all, however will be on Tamoxifin for 5 years. I am seeing an oncologist on Thursday to discuss further treatment.

What is your diagnosis? .
