Good luck to us all!!

Hi Sandie, Dennymac, Rachel & Natalie - Thankyou all for your replies which are reassuring. I am having just FEC according to paperwork no T on the end lol. It feels so strange to be going through this as there was nothing in my sentinal node and they said they got good clearance. The reason I am going through the chemo route is because i was ER - 3/8 no nearer a negative then positive and because I am Her2 - and PR - they said I was almost like a triple negative. My cancer was grade 3, and because they do not think hormone therapy will work for me I have no other back up. So chemo recommended just in case! I think once I get started I will feel much better, the waiting is always worse isnt it. I will follow all your hints and tips and start downing that water
Hope you all have a lovely day and evening
Welcome to our lovely little group....think I chatted to you on another thread when we first started our journey?
I think we all had slightly different feelings about the chemo and our first one,but probably all in all, felt the same...it is a journey into the unknown in some ways, but I dont think it was anything like i thought it would be.Are you having FECT? thats what im on, 6 x 3 weekly sessions.I took a friend for my first one, water and little snacks in case I felt hungry,as I didnt eat much for breakfast. There is a thread on here with a great list of hints and tips, which is worth reading. If your having a cannula in your hand,I had probs getting the needle in as my veins are very thin,so they put my hand in a bucket of very warrm water to make the veins stand out a bit,so one lady said on here to use one of those hand warmers in you can before hand, just before you go in?Are you using the cold cap?I didnt, but some ladies have.
I hope you have a good weekend
I dont know how it goes in the uk..but I rocked up, waited for my weigh in, .. once they get close to plugging you in they have a row of seats at our ward they call the bus stop, has a cute sign and everything 😉
I sat in a very comfy lazy boy chair. As I have a portacath they checked it was working by running saline through which hydrates you too. Drink lots of water ... they gave me anti nausea tablets before I started.
Anyway then they connected the chemo drip, chatted to me and watched how I was, they're careful first time.
The actual chemo took 2 hours. The people next to me were friendly and chatty. Everyone ate their sandwiches and drank their drinks.
Afterwards they run a little saline to clear the port, and you get up and go home.
You should have a chart with your drug regime and anti nausea drugs to take. If you follow the times it will be ok. I missed my first set and was a wreck, but after that it was ok.
Thats my experience, it was actually really pleasant considering how freaked out I was at the thought of it.
Hi Ladies, I have been reading through the posts tonight and think its time I joined you February ladies as just got my date to start chemo on Feb 19th. Having Fec x 6, bloods on Tuesday....can anyone tell me what to expect on my first time?
Hope you all have a good restful night
