Connorchloe sorry your results were not what you wanted. Things change all the time but there is always a next step. Keep your chin up lovely and i hope Friday brings positive news.

Good luck tomorrow Miffy. Fingers crossed 🤞🤞

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Corniche- all the very best to you. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions. At least we can share our feelings on this thread, with ladies who know exactly what we are going through. Sending you hugs xx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Ali49. They found 2 tiny lumps in the dcis, so the her2; to see if it’s positive or negative. Don’t know what will happen tomorrow as heavy snow is forecast from midday and my appointment is at 2.10. All the best to you all. Keep warm xxŷ

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Not the outcome i was hoping for tbh whales. Just trying to get my head around it. Will know more on friday. Thanks for thinking of me x

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Ali youre free from drains at last! I bet you feel 50% better already.
I had that lady do something to me at liverpool too i cant remember what right now, the one where she doesnt actually place her hands on you but transmits calm?
I have results later today after mx and diep on 5th feb. When are your results ali ?

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Under my arm and the inside of my upper arm is definitely the most painful.parts for me!

I had my drain removed today so it feel better not having to carry it around and it didnt hirt at all coming out. I also had reflexology on my feet amd a hand and arm massage while i was there - it was lovely! Marina Dalglish has done amazing things for Breast Cancer care in Liverpool and us BC ladies really benefit from them!

What results are you waiting for Miffy? Waiting for results is always the hardest time! Thinking of you xx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Thank you for the advice Whales and Ali. I tried a crop top last night ang it worked really well.

Good luck with the results Miffy xx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

hi ladies

i too are sore under the arm and my consultant said that all the ladies say the arm is the worse.  I too are struggling with  the bra, actually get abit embarrased with them being loop sided.

Glad lots of us are getting out and about too

Regarding the driving my breast nurse said its about being able to do an amergency stop and that i will have to contact my insurance company.

Take care all

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Ali49- thanks for the advice. It’s great to know we are not alone. The numbness under my arm is starting to improve, at one point I felt I could stick a pin under my arm and not feel it. I’ve an appointment Thursday afternoon for more results, fingers and toes crossed it goes ahead. I want to know my way forward, once I know I’ll deal with it, it’s the waiting that’s the hard thing. Lots of love xxx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

I explained to the breast nurse about the pain and soreness under my arm and she said it is comm9n. She said keep a small heart shaped cushion or just a small cushion under our arm. I have done this all day and it has helped a bit. It is also the inside of my upper arm. She said it is all the nerve endings.

Hope this helps and hope you are all ok. Drain out for me tomorrow xx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Glad to hear it Roxanne. It defi otely helps to get out. Its also good to know that we are the same although not good to lnow that you both have the horrible under arm thing. Hope it goes soon. I will ask the breast nurse tomorrow, what we can do xc

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Make that 3 under my arm feels like it was rubbing too. LoL

had my painkillers and wrapped  up for the night.

i think a just needed to get out. My mood was much better after the movie and food.

xx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Hope you’ve had a good day and that your mood has been mainly up. I love your symbols Roxanne. xx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Ali 49- My arm is exactly the same. Thanks, it’s great to compare notes. Xx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Feeling good! Been to chirch and out for a lovely ealk in the Winter Sun. The park was packed. Freezing but lovely as we were all wrapped up!

The main area that is sore for me is under my arm. Its like the skin is rubbing together. I still have the drain in but that really doesnt bother me and its coming out on Tuesday.

Hope you feelbetter Roxanne xx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Feeling good. We’ve been out for a walk, but changed our route as the wind was rather bracing!! It’s a lovely day though, much better than rain. Have a good day one and all.xx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Hello everyone, glad to hear you are getting on ok with your recovery, with the exception of the bras - I had same problem, bra from hospital was itchy and scratchy.

In the end I bought a crop top which was very comfy and I could step into it and pull it up. Then I went back to my old Tesco sports bras as even though I am about three cup sizes smaller on one side, it looks ok when i'm fully dressed.

Hope you all continue to do well, girly x

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Ive had half a dozen bras all crushing and irritable.

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

How we all feeling today ??

My mood has been up and down, today i'm 😢😢

Brunch  and cinema planned for today so should take my mind off things

hugs & kisses to everyone xx💞

Oh don't  forget to 🙅🙇  LOL

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

I have not been wearing mine for sleepingvin as i feel it pulls on the drain at the mo. It is ok during the day though. Hope you get it sorted Roxanne x

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Mine has been okay, but the nurse gave me soft pads to put under the seams to stop it rubbing on my stitches. Asda online do a range and of bras.  All the very best xx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

is anyone else having issues with the post surgery bra from the hospital??

i don't know what it is but for the last two night it seems to be pressing or rubbing against the reconstruction and keeping me awake. I've resorted to pain killers and taking the strap off Woman Sad

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Thanks Miffy. Yes i am m9ving around all the time in the hpuse and i did go out to the shops but my hubbybis working and not being able to drive is a pain! Lovely and sunny here this morning so planning on getting the kids out for a walk and perhaps a bit of lunch.

My surgeon has done such a good job and i do trust him - he has been great!

Enjoy your weekend. Lots of love xx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Hi ali49.  It will be 4 weeks on Tuesday since my operation. I too found it hard to get comfy. I used a triangular pillow and small cushions. Also I’ve been getting really hot, so ordered a cooling mat from amazon. It’s great, it cools me down. My husband ordered it and when it came it was for dogs!! But in fairness to him on the advert it didn’t mention that. Also I’ve tried wearing an eye mask, that shuts everything out, I won’t win in the glamour stakes!!. I started  moving around straight away and went to places, where I could  wander and look at things to help me think about other things. Ikea, garden centre, coffee shops. I have been sorting a few of my things. All surgeons are different, my drain came out after only 5 days, we just have to trust them. We’re meeting up with my brother and his family this morning for coffee and then we are going to a party this afternoon. They’re giving dry weather on Sunday so we’ll be out walking, 10;000 steps again hopefully. I’m eating too much at the moment and enjoying it, but have set a target for getting back to eating healthily on March 5th. We’re away the weekend before. Hope the pain subsides soon. Take painkillers to ease it, there’s no need to be brave. Have a good weekend xx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

How long is it since your op now miffy? The wait for rests never gets easier but fingers crossed for you xx

5 days on and i am have a bit of pain and i'm feeling weepy! My back is aching and i dont if its because i am finding hard to get into a comfy sleeping position or because i am just sitting for most of the day!! I still have the drain and my surgeon likes his patients to keep them in for 10 days! It doesnt bother me but it willbe good when its out.

I hope everyone is doing well and has stuff planned for the weekend xx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Been to have my hair cut and coloured today. It feels great to be doing normal things. More results on Thursday, so I’m hitting the chocolate again. I’m not dwelling on what could be, keeping busy and I’ll deal with it on Thursday. I’m doing the exercises regularly and I’m improving daily. Still quite numb under my arm and I’m massaging the top of my arm to try and help improvement and ease the tightness. Love to all on this journey xx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

I hope i'm doing my exercises properly. I am doing tne 5 for the first 3 weeks. I can feel the numbness wearing off a bit now I think. I am feeling a bit tearful tonight but i have been expecting this to come!

As i have had radiotherapy just over a year ago, my surgeon said there is the chance that the recon will not work but i am doing everyth8ng they tell me to do in the hope that it will.

Its really encouraging to hear how well you ladies are all doing. Thank you for sharing xx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Roxanne -It’s lovely to be able to compare progress. I am exactly the same as you re exercise. The sideways one is difficult. I did it 3times on Monday and was aching, so I’ve given it a miss for a couple of days, but intend having a go tomorrow  all the very best to you. Xxx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Well done. Take your time. I found the district nurses excellent. I had my operation on Tuesday and the drain came out on Saturday. All the very best to you xxx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Ali -there's nothing like being at home in your own bed for a speedy  recovery. Keep up with the painkillers and take it easy. I popped out on my first day home, took my drains to the local shop, only 5 mins away. That evening i was knocked out.

Miffy -take it easy. Mid march seems reasonable. My nurse promised me a special cushion to help with the seat belt.

My exercises are going well but I'm having difficulty with the "walking fingers up the wall", the one at the front isn't too bad but sideways is a no no.😳

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Well done Ali all done now. Youve done amazing 👌

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Oh and i have done one lot of exercises today xx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Hi all, i came home at lunch time and i am ok. I have been taking regular painkillers althpugh everything still seems pretty numb. Sore under my arm though and shoulder feels a bit tight.

Got tje drain in a bag so not too bad and district nurse is coming out tomorrow. Just settling down for the night with my v pillow.

Goid night God bless xx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

I’m aiming to drive mid March. My left arm doesn’t feel strong enough yet. I’ve been doing my exercises religiously however, I introduced a new one yesterday and I think I over did it. My arm was aching last night and I had to take 2 paracetamol. Had a lovely day out with my grandchildren today, it was lovely to get back to normal. We  had a lovely walk and a great lunch. Hope everyone out there is making good progress. Love to all xx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Ali, its good to hear from you. XX

Has anyone attempted to drive yet?

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Hello Ali, great to hear you are back on the ward, hope your day goes well, girly x

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Glad your all settled ali . Hope you have a good night sleep, let us know how you get on.

Roxanne hope you ok and let us know how you get on 😉

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

All done and settled on a lovely ward with 2 lovely ladies. Thank you for all your good wishes xxx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Ali - all the best for Monday, it's scary but totally 'do able' ( is that  word??) 😊

Miffy - well done, 10,000 steps☺

CC - just listen to your body. I'm out and about most days but knackered by early evening.😉

Whales - i believe the radiotherapy is just a precaution. I see the oncologist this week  😕

Best wishes to all xx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

All the very best to you for Monday.  I felt sick for a few days after the op, rhubarb and custard sweets to sup, worked a treat. Take your time and build up gradually xx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Thinking of you ali , I’m sure you will be as good as us. To be fair I think we are all doing amazing .
Roxanne sorry to hear your having radiotherapy, didn’t think that was an option.

Wow miffy your back to normal already . Well done

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Hi Conorchloe, I had the single mx and immediate DIEP last April - I feel great both physically and mentally. Some of the breast skin failed to heal so I had a bit of revision surgery a couple of weeks after the DIEP and it has left significant scarring but it doesn't trouble me. My stomach scar healed very well and is very soft and faded.

I'm having the other side lifted and reduced in the summer - the plastic surgeon offered me a nipple recon but I might pass on that one.

A few months after the op I was having pain in the shoulder on the op side and hadn't regained strength in that hand - went to osteopath and he showed me that the arm movement was very limited - he did some massage and gave me an exercise which is a bit like the creeping up the wall but with my back to the wall - it was really hard! I went to see him a few times and improved but his advice was to go swimming - twice a week x 20 minutes - this has worked out really well for me as I am always on watch for lymphoedema.

I see you are a couple of weeks on from your op so it's still early days for you but I hope you are feeling positive and not too uncomfortable,  girly x

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Ali49 sending you very best wishes for tomorrow. Like Miffy rightly says its the waiting thats the worst bit. Will be thinking of you tomorrow. All the very very best to you xxx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Girly888 did you have mx and diep recon? If so when did you have it done and how are you feeling?

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Miffy -  10.000 steps - what are you like! Am glad you are feeling so well.

Ali - just wanted to say thank you - when I was diagnosed with high grade DCIS last January, I was following your posts with Schumi and Coralie and the other ladies and they were the deciding factor in which treatment option I took so am grateful to you all for that as I was having a really hard time on the decision.

Meanwhile I can't seem to find any of my earlier posts - a few weeks ago I reported innapropriate advertising on the forum, next time I came on the site, I was banned for a few hours! So i think the moderator banned me by mistake and maybe that's why my earlier posts disappeared.

Best wishes all.  girly  x

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

I understand how you feel, but honestly it is a relief to have it all over. Wishing you all the very best. Take small steps and it is surprising how quickly things improve. Do what your body tells you. I had my masectomy on January 30th and today walked over 10,000 steps. Xx

Re: High grade Dcis awaiting mastectomy

Thank you Girly888. Feeling a bit nervous as it gets nearer but taking encouragement from how well everyone is doung x
