Holby City tonight

Has anybody seen Holby City tonight? I watched it and was “gob smacked” , to put it extremely politely, at their storyline regarding a wife and her husband turning up for a lumpectomy and being totally dismissed - initially. As the story progressed it transpired that the guy who specialises in “doing lumpectomies” on a private basis regards it as being quite lucrative.

As this is the sister programme to Casualty, which has envoked much debate, I think that the Producer of both needs a severe dose of how it is in “reality” . To compound matters, the guy who is undergoing Chemotherapy is the one who is going to carry out the lumpectomy!

I am very cross by the way…sorry, I no longer do cross …I do evil!

Hi Janeyb

Yes, i also watched Holby last night totally gobsmacked! I agree with bringing issues like BC to the forefront so more people are aware but there are sensitive ways of handling the storyline, how many women will be fearful of seeing a doctor if they think they will be turned away as not serious! I also ranted on here about Casualty as it made most unpleasant viewing. I guess the BBC think it will improve ratings! My husband hated both programmes it really upsets him anything to do with BC and he moaned at me for not switching it off!!! I was desperate to see though if the Chrissie storyline panned out ok so had to watch it.

If we all keeep collectively moaning then perhaps something will be done, we should start up a petition to send to the BBC, not sure how to do it but would be one of the first to sign.

Best wishes and hopefully happier viewing in the future
