Hi Sparkle, wondering how your getting on with your blue boob now. It took me 18months & still have a tinge. I've nicknamed it my smurf boob 😜 Sending hugs x
The dye was still visible up to 9 months for me, really funny having one odd shaped/tanned/tinged blue boob that looks like my bikini top may have slipped during sunbathing I suppose I am lucky I didnt lose too much boob so dont need chicken fillet and lymph nodes were clear. I am just glad I am still here.
Good luck to all. X
Lol, there are times I nearly slip up with mum! I had to tell her I had a syst removed and it was fine but think she smells a rat! haha. My siblings know and all my friends.. also my son (30) and 17 year old daughter. She has been so amazing it makes me cry! but I dont want her being swamped by it and have gone with friends for some appointments to give her space.
It's good to hear you actually enjoyed your visits in the end... perhaps I will because I am getting bored at home. So Preston must be the only place around here with a rad machine?! Think I will start a fund raiser to buy another one! 🙂 x
Yes crazy we are going to the same place!. I got a card for drinks when I went for markers. To be honest I left there feeling quite depressed because it was the first time I was with other people with cancer and it made me sad seeing all the people suffering and at different stages. But I have my positivity back.. for now! 🙂 I have'nt told my mum, she's old and it would serve no purpose but it's hard to hide with all the appointments etc. So are you done now, is that it for you? brilliant if so! X
Yes got it Christine thanks.
I am going to Preston too! what's the odds on that! This is a national site isn't it? I went to Wigan for op. I think you are right re info. Learnt more tonight than in the past few months!

Hi Christine
So are your rads at a different hospital to where you had the op etc? I don't know if the BC nurse I was given details for is still the one I should call or is everything over with them now I'm at another hospital? A minefield of questions and thoughts!. I did write lists of questions initially but on reflection they were a bit naive the more I have looked into it... I suppose everyone is the same though people on here seem to know so much more than me! I need to catch up 🙂 x
Hi x
I'm still blue too after the op in May. What exactly did it do? I thought I was told it coloured the lymph nodes that may have cancer in them. If so why inject in the nipple? My nre onc who is dealing with the rads (another hospital) read my report and said 'oh that's interesting, one was bloe but changed by the time it got to the lab' I need to ask what on earth she was on about on reflection! lol. Are we meant to understand it all in one conversation!? Think I will start recording my appointments 🙂 x
Just found this on the Royal United Bath hospital website
"The blue dye used for the test does have a number of possible side effects. It will discolour the skin of the breast where the injection was placed. This discolouration may persist for many months and indeed it may be permanent in some women."
Permanent!?!? I hope not.

HI just thought I'd update my post on this thread. I had surgery last April 2014 and had my surgical check up yesterday. I was surprised when the first thing the consultant said was I still had blue dye discoloration. You can hardly see it but it is still there. I thought it had gone. I'm beginning to wonder if it ever will along with the tenderness!!!!
Thanks for all the replies. Mine is 3 months post-op, sometimes I think it has almost gone then the next day I realise it hasn't faded as much as I thought. Think this is due to looking at it in different lights.

Same here. I thought it wasn't fading but now at 10 months on it is much less noticeable than it was at 6 months.

Hi I still have the blue dye 10 months after my op, mind you it is fading a bit.
Mine took a year x
Mine took about nine months although by that time it was very faint. I thought it would never go as I was also told a 'few'weeks. Mind you I had the allergic reaction to the dye that only a tiny percent of people get. Glad I didn't know anything about it.
Thanks for the replies.

Hi
I had my rads about 10 weeks after my operation and I remember that the blue was still there when i started rads, although it was quite faint by then so I would say it took about 12 weeks for mine to disappear
Best wishes

Hi.
I'm wondering how long it will be before the blue dye from the SNB will leave my boob? Is there anything I can do to speed up the process? Thanks.
