You may also want to try posting on our Surgery Board to give users more of a chance to see your post.

In the meantime please do call our helpline at 0808 800 6000 who will be able to talk to you about both procedures and offer a friendly ear.

How soon after mastectomy can I remove ovaries?

I'm a BRCA1 carrier who had BC many years ago (& only found out about the mutation quite recently). I'm due to have a preventative double mastecomy in a few months time, using implants. I've been strongly recommended to have my ovaries out too, and was wondering what the minumum time gap people have left/would recommend leaving between the 2 ops? In a way, I'm keen to get them both out of the way around the same time so I can move on with my life. That said, while I can get my head round the mastectomy, I am dreading having my ovaries removed, because of all the physical and psychological implications. Any general advice/thoughts on ovary removal would be most welcome too.
