if the cream doesnt work (hopefully it will) please go back - if necessary ask for a different doctor. Its probably not cancer, but no lump is not enough on its own. if you are still concerned maybe ring the helpline. you can talk to a nurse and they will be able to advise you.

Hi Kess thanks for your reply. Went to doc on Friday and she said she's not worried (but to be honest didn't seem to know anything about ibc because she felt for lumps and said everything's fine). She gave me a new cream to try and that's it really x

Hi and sorry to hear your worries. IBC is very aggressive, which means symptoms tend to progress fast. However, any changes to your breast that dont improve should be checked out. I would go back to your GP. If the cream doesnt help and you dont have an infection (did they try antibiotics?) you may need to be referred to get it checked.

Hi WorriedElle,

Welcome to the BCC discussion forums, where I am sure your fellow forum users will be along soon to help.  You have done the right thing in getting your breast changes checked out and if you  are still worried you need to go back to your GP.  As I am sure your fellow forum users will tell you the majority of breast changes are not BC but do need checking out properly.

For more information and support please give our helpline team a call and have a chat with them about your concerns, they're here to support you.  Calls are free 0808 800 6000 lines open weekdays 9-5 and Saturdays 10-2.

I'm 22 & Worried it could be IBC?

I'm 22 and I've had a small, weirdly shaped rash around my areola for many months now. Probably around 10 months. It started off red, bumpy and a little itchy but has now turned into a brown mark, like an extension of my areola. I showed my GP who gave me cream which didn't help. Recently I've noticed the same breast has become noticeably bigger than my other, my areola and nipple is darker, painful, and my breast is quite red. All I seem to be doing is researching everyone's symptoms of IBC and worrying myself. I also keep feeling nauseous. (Definitely not pregnant). Help? X
