Hi Marie,
Had my Mx and node clearance 11th March, and only wore bra for the first time two days ago. Couldn't wait to get it off!
I think the burning sensation is to do with the nerve damage, and probably resolves eventually. I know some people have tucked a hankie in under any seams or other places where it hurts. I have also heard that gently stroking the sore bits in order to desensitise them helps. I have been trying this, but can't report much success so far.
If you don't mind taking yet more drugs, your GP should be able to sort you out with a prescription to help with the nerve pain. I'm not taking anything because I had my chemo up front and am fed up with having to take even more meds.
One big problem after surgery is from the scar tissue adhering to the tissues around them. In order to avoid this, I am gently massaging my chest and armpit with small circular motions (keeping the pressure very light). I know this works, as I had an uplift and reduction in 2008 and massaged the scars on the advice of my plastic surgeon. They healed very nicely, and I was comfortable and happy with the cosmetic effect right up until my Mx.
Good luck with your recovery,
Margaret
