Inexpensive post surgery bras

Just thought I would mention: I have ordered some post surgery bras from Marks and Spencer’s online sale. Not a fantastic choice, but they have wired and unwired ones, and were only £6 for two. Free delivery to a store of your choice, and the cost is slightly cheaper because you will find they have deducted the VAT at the checkout.

Thank you for your post, I’m struggling to find some and spent a fortune on rubbish just for something to wear so I will have a look on their site. Thanks

Thanks sdfmeg , I will look them up also. That 's what is useful about this site is tips from others who have been there and can guide us through it. Thanks again, Katykookabura.

Hi,
Matalan also do a cheap and pretty post surgery bra - £6.
I too spent a fortune on post surgery bras from “specialist companies” before I discovered Matalan! x

Hi there,
I have one quite nice comfortable bra from M&S, have also heard they do good inexpensive ones at Asda, haven’t tried them out as not near an Asda store.

Hi
asda do there own version of the genie bras. They come in black, nude and white and are £6 each. They are not pretty but they have little pockets in them so that you can remove the padding that comes with them. They wash pretty well though.

Hi
Asda bras are great and don’t dig in. They are £6 each so worth a try?

Hi just a quick question does anyone else have a weird feeling on the skin after a Mx it almost burns any idea what to do with it .
I ave put a bra on door first time in two weeks and it is nearly unbearable?
Marie

Hi Marie,

Had my Mx and node clearance 11th March, and only wore bra for the first time two days ago. Couldn’t wait to get it off!

I think the burning sensation is to do with the nerve damage, and probably resolves eventually. I know some people have tucked a hankie in under any seams or other places where it hurts. I have also heard that gently stroking the sore bits in order to desensitise them helps. I have been trying this, but can’t report much success so far.

If you don’t mind taking yet more drugs, your GP should be able to sort you out with a prescription to help with the nerve pain. I’m not taking anything because I had my chemo up front and am fed up with having to take even more meds.

One big problem after surgery is from the scar tissue adhering to the tissues around them. In order to avoid this, I am gently massaging my chest and armpit with small circular motions (keeping the pressure very light). I know this works, as I had an uplift and reduction in 2008 and massaged the scars on the advice of my plastic surgeon. They healed very nicely, and I was comfortable and happy with the cosmetic effect right up until my Mx.

Good luck with your recovery,

Margaret
