'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Hi Jewels...still not liking this site, you cant scroll through all the mesages once you choose to reply and especially on a phone you cant see half the info or scroll through the pages very easily...

But theres no way we want to split into 2 camps, so definately keep in touch here as well.

Fiona glad to see you back and also having good days again, i take it the foot issues have lessened??. i pm'd you so hopefully all is well.

Marion, oh normal i cant really remember that..hope you feel a bit more like yourself soon. The build up of the poison is bound to knowck us at times we dont expet as well as the "low blood days". Roll on Christmas we should all be past the worst though i know we still have herceptin, tamoxifen and recon to deal with the more negative & invasive stuff should be over.

Nicola and Faye, youre stuck with us whether here or Fbook, we are a team of crazy one boobed women who are taking on the crappiest stuff and winning, the battles are hard but we will win the war, our army of Jewels marching up to York :-).

Well, first tax tomorrow and steroids dont seem to have had an effect yet....will be glad to get it done though, like the first chemo, just want it out the way to the see how i feel.

Well take care lovely friends and hope no-ones struggling too much.

xx

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Evening Jewels - had a lovely evening with Jill and Cheryl - had a proper good belly laugh. Can't wait to meet up again x

Titus - don't worry about people leaving the forum - am sure everyone will get used to the new format sooner or later. I'm the same with the flushes this round - nightmare! Look after yourself - think we are all getting a little weary of the journey but at least we moving closer to our destination! X

Fiona - glad you were not MIA and just having some normal time. Good to hear from you x

Heading back to Leeds tomorrow so I'll catch up tomorrow evening.

Keep shining Jewels x

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Sorry to Marion & Nic for feeling down, it def gets tougher the further along you go.
Marion enjoy your visitors I'm sure they'll perk you up..x

Fiona hope your clinic visit went ok & that you got some answers re reduction suggestion etc..x

Jill Chelle & Cheryl sounds like you had a fab meet up....its great to have a really good laugh isn't it, does wonders for you!!

Back from first Tax, was worried when first arrived for bloods at hosp they couldn't get any blood from me so had to use my 'at risk' arm as a one off! Was panicking that the Tax wouldn't go ahead but new onc nurse that Ive not had before put cannula in inside wrist & worked great! Phew, no reaction either which is what I was worried about!...not feeling bad at all no nausea which is great!....not getting complacent tho as have heard how it takes a few days for the truck to arrive & knock you down!!

Good luck to all the jewels at the bar tomorrow. Xx

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Evening Jewels, just spent a fantastic evening with chelle and cheryl (aug) ended up crying with laughter and god help York next year, So good to meet up face to face and even though we have the worst thing in common the humour and company was great for my wellbeing shame more of us cant meet up in little groups in their area,Finding forum confusing FB easier but will still be about just a lot harder on phone and dont get to laptop that often

Hope everyones doing well as can do and so jealous of those still sporting hair and eyebrows mines mainly all gone except the unwanted variety

Well up at 5 for work so better sort myself out

Goodnight Jewels xx

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Glad to know I'm not the only one feeling grumpy. Invited out for tea today and the thought of responding brightly to the 'How are you? question was almost more than I could bear. In the end turned out OK;  lots of children from my class who seemed very pleased to see me and didn't ask the question so  it got me out of the circle of misery that I had been inhabiting.  Definitely getting worse as it goes along though, and I have very little to complain about compared to some of you.

Hot flushes are a nightmare - esp early morning. Generally OK during the day so far. Never had before chemo so definitely related.

Can I make a plea for not decamping to Facebook?  Happened on a teaching forum I belong to and once split it was never really the same again.  I rely so much on you lot.

Will be thinking of everyone else at bar tomorrow

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Hi everyone

Thanks for the concern, bless you all. I'm not MIA, everything ok, just had my few "good days" of the cycle, so done a few nice things. Tried to get away from BC being constantly with me, but it really is impossible isn't it?

Been at clinic today pre the next poisoning session on Thursday. Will post properly later.

Love to all,

Fiona
xx

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Marion sorry you've been feeling rough. We just need to remember what 'normal' is before bc took over. take care and big hugs xx

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Don't like this new forum. Don't know what i'm doing!! Where is everyone?

Becky, Lins, Fiona, Fi, Agnes.......?

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Aw Marion - good to hear from you but sorry you've been suffering and feeling blue. I think it's catching up with most of us a bit now but you're nearly there now and hopefully you'll start to feel better once you're out the other side. Keep your chin up and have a great time with your friends and daughter x

Big hugs xx

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Hi Jewels

Chelle -- I'm o.k.. Just been a bit up and down, nothing serious. I've got runny eyes, a spotty face like a 16 year old with acne, and just spent the best part of 2 days in the loo which has left me rather weary. Feeling fed up.  Nearing the end of chemo is good but I think the previous doses have started to catch up with me and I've been a bit down and grumpy. I have kept up with reading the posts though.

We have friends coming on Thusday until Saturday and ED coming on Tuesday next for 1 night which will make me put a smile on my face and get me out of pit of self pity.

York in March should be o.k.. I have checked my diary and it is clear for March.  If I'm honest, its clear after next week. Can't wait to be 'normal'  again.

Marion

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Hope all jewels have had a sunny day. Had an eventful day out at Shugborough in Staffordshire, a lovely day punctuated by a little funny turn in Patrick Lichfield's apartment - and lots of tea and lemon drizzle cake to aid recovery. Always takes a week for me to feel vaguely ok again - but just think I overdid it a bit in the heat.

Anyway hope all of you are ok. It is great to see that people will be heading for end of chemo soon (though as one of the 'last' ones, still have a long way to go, don't leave me behind!!).

Ann - having those extra doses as not oestrogen sensitive would make sense wouldn't it. ANd I have had a few hot flushes on chemo (never had them before)- mainly when on my steroids but not always.

love to all

jackie x

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Hi Jewels. Well that was a feat getting back on here! How you all doing? I had a great week away and it was so nice to be away from BC. But I did miss you as no one really understands and I'm sure because my brothers have seen me in my good week, having a drink, laugh and on top form they now wont believe me when I'm feeling crap. I'll have to get them round next week post Tax to visit so they believe how hard this really is!!
It's hard to negotiate this site on mobile so will catch up properly when I've been online.
Enjoy the bh sunshine xx

Thanks Chelle for posting the latest timetable of trips to the bar. Great to see FINAL starting to appear against some people's. names. We're getting there...

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Ladies ,
Just to copy the post off FB we are trying to pencil in a date for York next year. Obviously needs to fit around treatment and family commitments etc but it was suggested that we at least try and get a date in the diaries before people start booking hols. End of March seems to be the fav currently which would be either Saturday 22nd or 29th. Please post if either of these dates suit/don't suit or other dates you could make x

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Hi all. I've been told to expect a month of rads (seems a long time away, will prob be in Jan), like pointy it's cos I have lymph node involvement. After 3 cycles of FEC I think my periods have finally dried up . No hot flushes though (was having them before treatment occasionally though). Gus aka Clare

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Hi Vicki
All my rad appts were scheduled for about 11.30! I told them that if Ihad to work that was not really suitable and they did change most of them to 9.30 am which is much better.
D x

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Hi Anne,

Re the flushes, yes ive had a few only in the last week or so, Onc says its chemo related and will only get worse as the chemo and herceptin will force the menopause upon me. :-(.

Hope everyone else is doing ok. Good to hear those of you having rads are getting the info through already. Do you get all the appointments at the same time and can you tell the rad dept what time suits you best?.

Hope some other jewels will join us on face book as this site is not doing it for me the same as it used to lol..mind you as others have said i dont want to lose touch with the Jewels who dont Fbook..

Anyway enjoy the rest of the sunshine, i think theres quite a few of us at the bar this coming week..

xxxx

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Hi Joan very sorry to hear that you are in hospital again due to anaemia.  Hope you are feeling a bit better today and that you are soon safe at home. Sending you a big hug. Xxxx lets us know how you are when you feel up to it.

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Anne - this was my 1st round of tax but I'm having really bad hot flushes this time. Wondering if the poison has finally fried my ovaries or whether its just SEs of the chemo but I've had 3 cold showers today it's been that bad.

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Hi All

Well I am still feeling good and STILL in mad woman cleaning and clearing mode! Not looking forward to next bar visit on Tuesday but it is the last one!! Got my rads planning appt next Thursday and it all kicks off on the 16th Sept through to the 16th October. Ann, I seem to remember my onc telling me I had to have 23 sessions because my lymph nodes were involved so they zap up to the collar bone and then give the tumour site some extra frying 😞
Slightly worried about the effects on my heart as its my left side. I still have to take tamoxifen as well.
Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend and let's hope the sun shines for the rest of it!
Debs xx

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Well I'm back in hospital again :-(, this time for anaemia. Finally realised last night I should get checked out when I thought my head was going to explode with the blood pumping in it after I climbed the stairs. Came in this morning for a blood test and I have to have 3 units transfused. Hope to be out tomorrow. Doctor on duty has me scared about why it's gone so "unusually low". :-(:-(:-(

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Hello Jackiebee,

The QE has been very efficient, just opened today's post and I have a letter for my next appointment with them after I have finished chemo.  It is on 25th September and for the measure up, tattoo and appointment planning.  My final chemo is scheduled for 12th September, so all in all the hospital seems to be well on the ball and so far the staff  I have met are lovely.

I don't know why I am having the extra 8 boosts, Dr at the Alex thought I would have 2 or 3, so I was a bit shocked, but I am not able to have hormone treatment as I am only weakly positive so that may be the reason for the extra frying sessions.  I will ask when I see Dr again.

I am glad we are gradually finding our way back onto the forum, I really missed the support.  Here comes yet another hot flush, has anyone else found this happening since being on chemo ?

x

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

TaylorJ - I've PM'd you back on how to join the group x

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Sandra - your heading over to my neck of the woods - Blenheim Palace.  I used to live just down the road and enjoyed walking the grounds (although that was over 16 years ago).

Hope everyone is OK and enjoying the BH weekend.  Start Tax on Tuesday and not looking forward to it - entering the unknown again.

Had a few glasses of red last night at a work colleagues leaving do.  Feeling it today, but looking forward to a chilled out evening and long soak in the bath.

Take care Sparklies xxxx

Ann  good to hear from you and glad to hear that you have already had a radiotherapy chat despite not yet finishing chemo- I was worried than in the transition from the Alex to the QE we might fall through the cracks and have a big gap. Sorry to hear youve got more rads than you thought though- did they say why?

Really tired today despite coming off steroids more slowly this time so off for an afternoon snooze. Hope everyone is ok x

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Hi All,

Still can't find my way around this forum!
Anne - good to hear from you - take it easy when the tiredness sets in x

I'm having 5 minutes between cleaning but need to get up and start again or I'll be asleep before I know it

Catch you all later x

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Hello ladies,

So pleased to have found you all again, this new forum and chemo mush brain is a struggle.  Hope everyone is reasonable.  I had FEC 5/6 on Thursday, went ok, steriods giving me the shakes but Emend doing it's job.

Had my first radiation appointment at the QE in Birmingham.  Just a general chat, exam/prod about.  I was shocked to be told I was to have 23 sessions, comprising of 15 normal sessions of the whole breast followed by 8 boost sessions to the site the tumour was removed from.

Steriods end tomorrow evening and then I will sink into endless tiredness until around Wednesday.  At least I can see the end of the chemo now, just hope the rads are easy to cope with.

Ann the windy bald eagle xx

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Very quiet on here? Or have I missed a whole page of posts?...still finding this site confusing. Anyway hope you're all ok Jewels..raining here today, hoping to go to Blenheim Palace again tomorrow or Monday, classic car show on so OH will enjoy, hopefully weather may pick up & will take a picnic. Enjoy your Bank Hol weekend Sparklies...xx

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Hi Ladies,

Will def be checking in here too as would hate for us to be split up as Jackie & Chelle has said.

Brain mushed a bit today so can't comment on all posts but hope everyone doing ok..x

Having nails painted this aft by a mobile nail lady (dark polish in prep for Tax) thought I deserved a treat & can't imagine the mess I'd make if I was let loose with dark nail polish!!

Will try & check back later...xx

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Jayne  - (Cassie) - I've added you to the FB group now - the posts will show up in your timeline when you're on FB but only you can see them not any of your friends/family etc. Just remember to post anything under the Jewels group and then it will be completely private

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Yes, we must stick together, however annoying this forum is!

Fiona, lovely to hear for you again. My GP has signed me off till the end of chemo (end of Oct) but as I then head to surgery for node clearance and then rads, no-one's expecting me back anytime soon. Don't know how I'll feel once chemo is over but I'm very glad I'm signed off. I have mince for brains. I'm just coming up to the first anniversary of my partner dying so I don't have much normal to hark back to. In fact I think not being at work is good for me right now.

Sorry, that was a bit of a downer! Hope you have a lovely day with your daughter. 🙂

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Jackie - can you stand down wind of me please - I can smell you from here (Pharrrp) haha x Woman LOL

I totally agree - would not abandon this forum unless all the Jewels were on FB  - we are a team x

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Logged back in I think - missed all you non facebookers this week, hope you were all ok?

Am not feeling too bad though INCREDIBLE wind today!! A friend has driven down from yorkshire to take my girls out for the day so I can have an afternoon snooze as I reduce my steroids today and always feel a bit rubbish at this time in the cycle. What a friend she is.

Would be great if the non-facebookers could join our secret group but I will still come on here to keep up with anyone not wanting to do that, would hate to see the group fragment after such amazing support so far. xxx

Re: 'June Jewels' - Precious and shining through :)

Actually just lookin g on FB is says I can invite people via email (don't know if this will work if you don't have a FB acct already but it's worth a try) so anyone without a FB account - personal message me your email and I'll see if I can add you x)
