Thanks a lot for your kind words. I am going to fight it with all that I have.

Keep well.

Re: Just diagnosed with cancer

Carmen I lost my mum to breast cancer when she was 60 , hers was very advanced before she got help though sadly, I'm one of 3 girls as well but we have never felt overly at risk as mums wasn't a genetic type, mine is just sheer bad luck and not linked to a family history but both my sisters and some cousins have been for mammograms and thankfully all clear, grade 2 is still pretty early stuff and I'm sure you will be well looked after, trust in your team and I wish you all the best Xx Jo

Re: Just diagnosed with cancer

Hi Tracy

I am sorry to hear about your cancer, but ductal cancer is better than lobular.

Re: Just diagnosed with cancer

Hi

I was diagnosed today with grade 2 invasive ductal breast cancer. Next an MRI then surgery or chemo.

I also had to tell my family which was harder yet still have to tell my son as he doesn't live near and I have to do it face to face and that will be November.

I hope your OK

Re: Just diagnosed with cancer

Hi Val

Glad you are better now. Finally I have all the results of the biopsy.

It is grade 2  5mm lobular cancer  ER; positive (ALLRED 8/8) Her2: negative

so tomorrow I am having another ultrasound in different angles.I have to do a MRI I don't know when yet. From the MRI result I might need other biopsies it depends if they find anything else.I am already fed up of waiting either for this or that. After the MRI I will have surgery and then it depends on what they find.

There is nothing I can do but wait and pray.

Wow Malta we holidayed on the island for years loved it. Now we spend the summers in Yorkshire and the winters in Southern Spain should be leaving next week until April but the big C has put paid to that this year. May get away March time if we are lucky. Good luck with your treatment it will be interesting to hear what road you go down compared to here. Hugs Val

Re: Just diagnosed with cancer

Hi Val

At least I know I am not alone. I live in Malta and breast cancer is very common over here. As you said we have no choice but to take a step at a time and hope for the best.I am glad that you are feeling better and the worst is over for you. Keep well.

Re: Just diagnosed with cancer

Hi Carmen I am 71 diagnosed early July op 16 July loads of other tests but started chemo 29 September. I hate hospitals needles blood etc but you do it because you know you have to. If you have to have chemo have a line of some sort fitted it makes life easier. I have to say this forum has been a great source of information. I have picked up loads of tips and at the moment I am coping. Like all the other ladies on here loosing your hair is a big thing but the wigs are very good and I bought loads of lovely 1920's hats to wear this winter. I have as yet not lost my hair but I know I will. Please just take things as they come read the other Ladies eateries on here and you will find support. I think you are the only one at our age so we can compare notes. I live near Halifax in .yorkshire mine was grade 3 with node involvement had mastectomy and my prognosis is good. Good luck with your treatment.

Re: Just diagnosed with cancer

Thanks Jo for your quick reply. I think yours was the best cancer being grade 1 mine is grade 2. We were three girls in the family. One sister was diagnosed with breast cancer but was in an advanced stage and all her nylph nodes were removed and she died after battling with it for 7 years at the age of 67. My other sister had breast cancer at 45 luckily she caught it in time had it removed and was clear from breast cancer for 15 years then another cancer popped up (not in her breast)and she died from it. I have a family history of breast cancer my sisters my cousins etc.

Today I am suppoed to meet the surgeon and hopefully will know more about it.

I am shocked and very sad.

Re: Just diagnosed with cancer

Hi Carmen, sorry you have had to join our club but we all try to help support each other and I hope you find the same here, I was diagnosed in February with a Grade 1  4mm cancer with no node involvement, my treatment was lumpectomy and Sentinal nodes removed , 2 in my case but it varies depending on where your tumour is as it drains to different nodes, I then had 3 weeks of Radiotheraphy and am on Tamoxifen as mine is hormone positive, Chemo isn't a certain especially if your nodes are clear and also can depend on grade and size of tumour, it's likely you won't need it so try not to get too far ahead of yourself, I know it's really hard not to but it's all doable and my op and treatment were fine and I've no lasting effects really and feel on top form now! take care Xx Jo
