Re: Just introducing myself

Hit belly, my 1st chemo went very well thanks and so far I feel alright! I'm waiting for it to hit me like a tone of bricks!

Re: Just introducing myself

I'm having rads now..third one today..11 to go ! Yes they can't tell you whether you need chemo until after the op and lab results are back etc...that's a wait and a half!...x

Re: Just introducing myself

Kelly I hope it went ok today x
From ultrasound they reckon 5-6mm and lymph node biopsy was clear but they still didn't want to rule out chemo before results of surgery. I guess I'm worrying for nothing until I know for sure! Guess I'll be back on here next week when I know my next steps.
Lorna that's great that you didn't have chemo did you have rad?

Re: Just introducing myself

The waiting is a nightmare isn't it. Sounds like they have caught it early though with those grades, stages. What size was it? I was stage 2 (or grade.. lost the plot!) and my lumpectomy showed clear margines and a 6mm growth was removed. It was hell waiting to see if I needed chemo but thank god I didn't! no lymph node involvement. I hope you get great resultsx What ever treatment you need I am sure there is lots of help for woman like you with young children. Call the helpline to discuss, even before the results so you can put your mind at rest. Please keep us posted. will be thinkin gof you.

sending love

Re: Just introducing myself

Thanks for the replies. Kelly I wish you the best of luck for tomorrow and the rest of your chemo. Did you read "Mummy's lump" to your twins? I think it was very helpful for my son to read and prompted me to explain certain things I wouldn't have thought of.
I won't know before next week whether I need chemo or not. Having to look after the kids on my own while having chemo terrifies me. Yes I have wonderful friends, but they have jobs, husbands and children themselves. I think I may be able to get a nursery place for my youngest through HV, but it's only for a few hours a day....

Re: Just introducing myself

Hi there, this is the first time I have posted on here I usually just read! I was diagnosed on 25 June triple neg grade 3. I start chemo tomorrow and I'm crapping myself to be honest! I'll have my mastectomy after chemo is over. I am 37 and have 4 year old twins and a 20 month old as well as teenagers!! I do have a fab hubby who is a tower of strength I am very lucky. I have quite a lot of family around me to help with babysitting while I'm in appointments etc. Will you be needing chemo too? It must be tough being on your own during this difficult time- I hope you have some great friends who are giving you support? I'm sure there must be other ladies on here in the same boat. Xx

Just introducing myself

Hi everyone.
Was dx on 26th June with grade 1 stage 1 had lumpectomy 4 days ago and am waiting for pathology results so I can start tx.
I'm 36, have 2 boys (22 months and 5) and I'm a widow, with no family support nearby. I'd love to hear from ladies with young children like me, and how you are coping with childcare during appointments, and looking after the kids during chemo, as these are the things that worry me most. I hope I posted in the right place, if not please excuse my ignorance!
