Thanks Muffet, I am getting quite red even with the paper cover, so I am quite glad now and sure that the rays are getting through! It is just that I find it so funny to be covered as they leave the room!
Hi all, I live i Spain... My Rads you were given a gown to walk in with... Then totally naked top half...
Don't know if this helps or not, all i do know is I burnt really bad !!! I had 36 days...

Hi miscally
If you look further down the radiotherapy treatment page you will find a thread labelled "breast gowns" with lots of comments on exactly this subject! It illustrates once again that we are all different and need to be treated as individuals rather than "one size fits all".

Thank you, I do fell that the care they are taking to make me feel comfortable is good and I do appreciate it. I just wondered how it was for others, I'd not read of anyone else who was covered during the treatment.
I've just had my third treatment and am getting really rather pink and hot! I am using the aqueous cream they gave me, but it doesn't seem to make much difference. Only 15 more to go!
ive just finished 20 Rads and also was given a tunic with velcro shoulders ,I was uncovered for positioning and lining up of machine but always found it so sweet that they always covered my unaffected side before leaving me alone for my treatment,i just thought it was a nice kind gesture to respect my dignity as we feel so vunerable and exposed when all our womanhood is on display especially to the male radiographers who always asked permission of me before they stayed.some ladies no matter how much treatment they have been through still find examinations such a big deal to them so i think its only right that we are treat with such respect. x Julie
Thank you moorcow. I didn't like to ask at the time, stupid I know! I feel much as I did when pregnant, that your sense of 'modesty' goes out of the window after a while.
Thank you for replying and reassuring me, this site is so wonderful.
Best wishes
Hello there, where I got my treatment we had a kind of dinner ladies tunic thing to wear woth velcro at shoulders so they could undo whichever side was neccessary or both ...they left the treatment side uncovered and covered the other one after positioning -but when asked they said it would work just as well covered, and thats material not paper. I found it helpful to be covered as after 20 odd treatments being exposed day after day was getting me down,
best of luck with the rest of your treatment
Yes, just odd that when they were in the room I was uncovered and then they left me covered (for modesty they said) when they went out and only saw me on the screen. The young male radiographer said not to worry if it 'blew' off, as it was 'only for modesty!) I am a little beyond modesty at this stage!
Not complaining just I was surprised as I wasn't sure the radiotherapy would work as well through the paper, or am I being dense?
It was probably to give you a little dignity.

Hi all,
I just had my first rads session and was kept covered by the paper towel thing during the treatment. They only removed it when checking positioning. Is this common?
