Lavender essential oil

It may be too late already as I have used this a few times anyway to help ease the aches and pains, but is there a problem with using it whilst on chemo?

thanks

Hi Peacock,

Just to say that I went for a (fabulous) massage at the BC Haven here in London.
The therapy rooms there have different names. My therapist was in the “Lavender” room which was scented with the oil. I doubt that they would do this in a specialist BC centre if it was harmful to chemo patients….

Also, I know you’ve been suffering some Tax related side effects, so you might like to know that she used a combo of frankincense & ginger to help with the discomfort from my swollen legs! Had a good but temporary effect.

Hope that things are improving for you,

Lomalinda

Thank you Lomalinda for that answer, glad you have had a wonderful massage. I’ll try to get hold of some frankincense and ginger oils, it sounds lovely if nothing else.

Have been suffering quite bad this week from SE, but c’est la vie!

Hope your swollen legs give you some relief soon, and good luck

I’d suggest just running this by your bc nurse or someone else in your medical team. Probably fine but Haven does some pretty strange stuff and I wouldn’t take anything they said as gospel.

Jane

Hi

I have some sessions with a complementary therapist provided by the NHS. She practices aromatherapy massage and has told me that using essential oils is OK so long as it’s done with care. Everything should be done at half strength because your skin is so delicate and prone to reactions, and also rather than a blend of oils, she told me to concentrate on one or two at the most.

Hope this helps.

Hi Cat
Have just found you on another thread too - I’ve had first epi-CMF & have said yes to complementary therapies but have yet to hear - definitely worth it.
