Liver scan

Hi, I was unable to have my chemo yesterday because my liver function test (gammer gt) was over 400. I have got a cancellation for the scan on my liver this afternoon and I am really anxiouse about it. I wonder how long before I get the results.

Hi Susy, I had a liver scan a couple of weeks ago and the radiologist who was doing the scan told me what she could see straight after the scan. She did spend quite some time going over my liver and asking me to lay on my side and back whilst she scanned. She also did my bladder at the same time. I hope everything goes ok for you. Try not to worry - easy to say I know.

Hi Susy,
I had the same experience two weeks ago and had already had another scan a month before when enzymes shot up after iv antibiotics. The process is rather long and therefore scary - you lie there thinking ‘What does she see? Why is she going over there AGAIN?’. On the first occasion I got no formal report but next day onc said she’d had a look and all seemed ok( I was in hospital with sepsis at the time and was sent home the day after). On the second, the radiographer went away, talked to doctor and came back and said he was happy with scan. Liver inflammation isn’t unusual if you’re taking other meds on top of chemo.Knowing that won’t stop you stressing but I’m sure you’ll hear good news soon enough.
My final FEC was put off for a week and my liver readings were back to normal by then.
Wishing you all the best,
Kathleen

Hi thank you for your comments much appreciated. Just to let you know I have had the scan and all is well. Looks like I have a mild fatty liver (prob due to wine) but good news.

Hi susy, good to hear all was fine with your liver scan. I had one of these last year, well after finishing six months of chemo, and was told all fine, but a bit fatty liver. But then my nurse specialist said that that could be a side effect of the chemo, and nothing to worry about. So I have followed her instructions and not worried about it ever since
Christine.

Hi Susy, great to hear all is well. Now you can relax and enjoy the weekend.
Much love,
Kathleen

Snap! I had the same, was told it was consistent with the type of chemo I had, but thought it might have been wine as well! Glad to hear you had good news!
