Thank you for sharing this. I was uncomfortable with the 'battle' metaphor even before I found out I had cancer. Interestingly I haven't had that many people use it with me since breaking the news to everyone for which I am very grateful.
Thanks for posting this - I have printed it off to give to relevant people to read. Like Sally I hate the cliches of fighting and losing as though those of us who die do so due to laziness or not 'having enough fight'. People die because that is the ultimate outcome of this disease. Like Sally I always respond with 'I am living with cancer'. To me gives far more joy to living than seeing your body as an eternal battle field.
