Hi Elaine - just found your post so hope this finds you. Had my mastectomy nearly 3 weeks ago and was immediately supplied with a softy (two in fact in different sizes). Am wearing one with a soft pull on bra top from Asda which has a pocket that I can slip it into and I am finding it quite comfortable. Lightweight and cool. Some days don't bother and just were the bra top and clothes that disguise the absence of boob - bought a couple of kimonos which do the job well
.I would speak to your BCN for advice. My Health Authority supply prosthesis free of charge, not sure how many allowed. Nurse very helpful at helping you get the right one. Good luck. Marli x
Hi All,
I have never joined anything like this before, I hope you can help. I am asking for opinions on Prosthetics. I had my MX and ANC in March and have just had the 2nd of 6 Chemo cycles with 3 weeks of Radiotherapy at the end. I can't believe how it effects me! I thought I was strong, but boy it knocks you for six.
Generally I am coping with Betty Boop ( my prosthetic) however there are days when I find it quite hot and the cotton liner on my bra gets damp. I have been looking at getting an alternative for the warmer weather but there are so many options. How do you all cope? Which is a better option, Beads, Foam, Cheap, Expensive? I realise we are all individual but really not sure which to try.
Thanks for any help, Elaine.
