What a fab weekend, I can't tell you how much I enjoyed it, I was so looking forward to meeting everyone and was not disappointed.
Joan, I did try and find you with my scarves but you'd already checked out, massive thanks for organising.
Beryl, please give your husband a big hug and kiss, what a lovely gesture to give us all a photo, you have a very good man there!
KQ, likewise I am having to blitz the house, even though I did it all on Friday!

Made it back safely have fixed the sky tv problem and he'd also manged to disconnect broadband grrrrrrr but have fixed that too now 🙂
I can honestly say it was such a pleasure to meet you all and put faces to all the names...we have done so well haven't we? also thank you all for making me feel so much better about my hair xxxx

I'm just on my way home after my gig (excellent night, pub was packed & lots of singing & dancing) and i'm looking at the photo of us all and am feeling very emotional! Firstly thank you do much to Beryl's husband John for taking the photo & getting prints for everyone to take home. What a fantastic thing to do for us. I also wanted to say how wonderful it was to meet you all. Such an inspiration. I'm proud of us all for getting through such a horrible time and bring able to pick ourselves up & get on with life with a smile on our faces.

Marigold- hope I didn't sound flippant about the hair thing. It is a personal thing and people deal with it differently but what I would say is don't let the worry of what other people may think put you off doing what is right for you.

mariegold- Good luck with your chemo. I too was really frightened and had all sorts of perceptions about it but the thing is we have all done it and come through the other end. When I lost my hair I was fine and I'm not just saying that. In fact I went bald from the onset and never looked back. I'd bought loads of scarves, a great wig and never wore either apart from when it got really cold. There are drugs to deal with any side effects from the chemo and there is always aways someone to talk to if you are worried about anything. The Macmillan nurses are brilliant as are the chemo nurses. This forum also has been an absolute lifesaver. You will get through the treatment. Its not always easy but you will do it. I wish you the very best. I am now 3 1/2 months post chemo and am fine and am meeting up with the lovely women tomorrow I have met on here.

Ceej- I finished rads now about 6 weeks ago and have spent 3 or 4 days panicking cos my boob has really been painful but I guess this the nature of the disease and the worry is always there.
Just had an email from Central News. They said we'd left it a bit late to contact them and they definately would have done something but they've had my tel no just in case a reporter is free to catch up with us.

Hello Ladies,
This is my first time on this forum. I was first diagnosed in August and had my operation and reconstruction on the October the 2nd. All of the lymphnotes have been removed as well.Iam doing fine and all sacrs are heeling well.
I will be undergoing Chemotheraphie on Wednesday which scares me more than the atual operation. The fear of loosing my hair and eybrows is worrying for me.
I have ordered a wig online called simply wigs , they also do nice headwear and Eyebrows which you can transfer on.
At least this only will be temporary and our hair will grow back.
I just read so many bad things about the chemo, which I found very disturbing. But than when I read the comments
on this forum I did not feel alone and I know we have to go through this.
After my reconstruction I find that my other bust is a bit smaller and not as full as the other. Do any one knows if you can have a special bra where the other side is more padded than the other?
I read all about the lingery evenings but I can't find any in my area.
Do you feel sick when having chemo?
I wish everybody good luck and hope that you sail through the treatments. Keep positive.

Bless you Twinky, I have had thoughts since I heard a week or so ago that some people have been over treated, but had no reason, if i think it through, to think I was one of those. I so feel for you with this news, it must be so hard to see this now after all you have been through, but if you think it through logically, not all the women this surgeon dealt with will have a cause for concern, Im sure he did many operations that were totally right and necessary, remember how the press blow everything out of proportion. I so hope we can all reassure each other this weekend, and so look forward to seeing you after all we have been through together 🙂

Weird thinking that some of the gang are already in Birmingham together! I'll be catching a train out of Leamington just after 11 so will be at New Street just before 12. But concerned I will tire myself out but don't want to give up on the meet up & can't back out of the gig! Don't know what the weather will do so don't know what to wear....at least I don't have to worry about my hair...it just is what it is for the time being....lol....keep wondering how the hair growth will compare between us all.

Had a nasty couple of days as the surgeon in the press was my surgeon & of course i've had a recurrence. It's unpleasant seeing all the stories in the press but also frightening as it leaves me with questions about my original operation & the issues I had after that resulting in more ops before finally bring diagnosed again. At least thd meet up will be fun & I can forget about it for a while 🙂

I have not yet started either! I am often a last - min Lucy! I haven't even checked what time my train is! whoops need to get onto that!

I kept my bra off first time today, and what a relief! is! especially as the prosthesis is so heavy. But this can be problematic if unexpected people arrive! The Rads area is definately getting sore/redder, and some shooting pains in the rib area too.

It's a shame trains aren't direct isn't it? I have to go via Leeds, but I am always on trains (don't drive) so shouldn't complain.


I am so looking forward to being able to eat in a public place with (very) little hair, it is so liberating to be with others who are the same (though I suspect mine will be one of the shortest) as one of the last to finish chemo.
I do hope we have a lot of fun.

Had a lovely compliment from a total stranger today who tapped me on the shoulder in the House of Fraser and said my hair looked lovely. Blimey I thought I looked like a demented hedgehog! I smiled for ages after it was such a boost.
Don't forget to pack your thermals for our Canal Trip. Birmingham is very chilly today!!
