Mastectomy with reconstruction

I wondered about sleeping. I suppose you have to sleep on your back until every thing is healed!
It sounds like the first week is pretty uncomfortable especially with drains in situ.

Hi. I was diagnosed in march and had a mastectomy in April with reconstruction. The spacer was uncomfortable for the first few weeks. It was difficult to get comfy and sleep. When I got my fills there was no pain at all. I really do not notice a big weight difference but there is difference in the two breast. The side that had the spacer is beautiful the other side is work in progress. I hope this helps. I wish you a successful surgery and restful recovery

I’ve not heard of a tear drop one - mine was mesh with a silicone implant. I was only a B cup anyway so I just need my other one filling out a bit and lifting - not sure how they are going to do it? I see the surgeon on Monday to discuss it.

That's what I had read but just can't really imagine how different it will feel.
I am have the other side reduced at the same time to even the two up.
Did you have a tear drop silicone implant?

I had an implant in Feb at the same time as mastectomy. It has been fine so far - it does feel heavier that my other breast and quite odd because it’s numb but I think you just get used to it. I am now due to have my other breast reconstructed to match (as it looks lower)

First of all, welcome, there’s loads of support from all of us here. 

As well as here, it might also be an idea to post in ‘surgery’ on the ‘going through treatment’ board, where there are likely to be other ladies who will be able to advise.

Hi i'm new to this site but what I have read so far is very helpful. I was diagnosed with DCIS which has turned slightly invasive. I am waiting for a mastectomy in just over a week with reconstruction at the same time. I would love to know what other people have experienced and  how the implant feels. Is it heavier than the natural breast?

I am very nervous about the end result.
