I was just the same as Chascat. I attended a one stop clinic i.e. arrive at 9am and expect to be there most of the day with ultrasound, biopsy, consultation, heart scans etc and will be given result and plan on the day. I was told at 2pm after biopsy had been analysed that it was Er+ 8/8 and Pr+ 8/8. and the consultant strongly suggested i had the Mirena, which was emitting Oestrogen into my body, removed. I rang the GP at 9am the next day and saw the nurse at 12noon to remove it.
My GP still reckons 'the jury is out' as to whether the Mirena is a contributing factor and i can't find conclusive research but mine is gone.
Take Care Gilly x
I had my diagnosis confirmed yesterday - one small lump plus the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes. I am having the lump and the lymph nodes removed in about 3 weeks. I will have radio therapy, and a decision about whether or not I need chemo will be made following the op. The nurse has advised that I have my Mirena (hormone) coil removed at some point. Can someone explain why? Does it need to happen before the radio therapy starts? Not really cancer related, but - having had this type of coil fitted for about 14 years, am i likely to get any side effects specifically from having it removed?
Thank you!
