That's excellent news Shenagh and good to know!
Lulu fingers crossed for you.. let us know when then that pay slip arrives!!!
Hi, I've been off for the past four months following diagnosis, and am pleased to tell you that I got a pay rise (incremental) in my August pay. I work for the civil service, which I think sometimes helps!
thats good to know as its my incremental date today so hope i go up to the next pay spine too.... will know more at the end of the month when i get my payslip.
It would appear that the clarification that came back was that I infact will be eligible for consideration for moving up the pay spine. My faith in humanity has been restored!!!
I hope all is well with you!
So pleased to hear it! Have been wondering how you got on. Sounds really hopeful.
And how funny about the disability question!!!
Will continue to keep my fingers crossed but that sounds so much better.
Ok ladies... here's the update. My line manager has asked for some clarification on my situation from the powers that be - whoever they might be!!
He had no idea about cancer being covered by the DDA and even asked at one point if I considered myself to be disabled from now on!!!
I gave him the BCC Employ booklet so fingers crossed I'll have something positive to report in the coming weeks!! Watch this space!
Hope you all have a great weekend!!
Brilliant! Will be thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed they just concede the point immediately.
I'm just getting ready to go in to work today armed with a copy of the BCC EMPLOY charter. I shall post an update later and let you know how I get on!
Fingers crossed they are not going to make me fight for this!
Cancer is now included under the DDA, so definitely worth exploring. Like Georgibella, would feel very hopeful you do have a case.
BCC had something about employment guidelines on this site somewhere (or maybe it was Macmillan). Maybe ring up BCC or Macmillan helplines as I think they'd know all about rights for people with bc. And good old Citizens Advice too.
That's absolutely outrageous!
Very best wishes for fighting this (just what you need, another fight...)
Do keep us posted if you can and GOOD LUCK!
Thanks for the reply Georgibella! That's a good point actually - I shall check with colleagues and see what has happened to them post maternity leave! (Not quite the same thing I know but it might help to strengthen my case).
try the equality and human rights commissiom or acas. I'm pretty sure that they have to make 'reasonable adjustments' and that you should not suffer disadvantage. I know if a woman is on mat leave for example, she would recieve normal pay increase etc
I was off work last year whilst receiving treatment and therefore missed the appraisal cycle. I would have been due to move up the pay scale at work after the completion of the cycle but obviously, as I was off, I have no documentation to produce. Does anyone know if I would have a case under the DDA? I now feel I may be at a financial loss through no fault of my own.
