Re: My story

Hi Mo

I have responded on another thread so won't repeat it all. There is a Facebook group called Somerset CanDo which includes most of the people who used to meet at Browns and others from around Somerset. You would be most welcome to come to any of the events. We meet in various places now and there is no regular meeting date but someone is currently organising a lunch in Fishponds next week. I won't be able to make that one but hope to meet you at one in the future.
It would be great to meet you and it sounds like you would give us all a lot of encouragement as you are doing so well. I am coming up to 6 years now since my diagnosis.

Re: My story

That is great news, nearly 30 years! Well Done on staying well. We need inspiring stories like yours and I hope the ladies from Bristol are along soon to arrange a meet up in Browns.
Hope this moves your post to the top of the list !!!

My story

Hiya. I am new to this site and would like to share my story. I had breast cancer diagnosed in my right breast in 1981 and in 1982 had a mastectomy as it was invasive. Following this I had shadows in the left breast and subsequently opted to have a second mastectomy in 1983 as my surgeon thought there was a high probability of a fresh primary in the second breast. Since then I went on to have reconstructive surgery in 1986. I still feel the need for support from people with similar experiences
I am posting now because it may help other people to realise that some of us survive for many years. I was 39 when first diagnosed and I thought my world had ended. I had 2 young teenagers and was then a single parent. I wasn't given a very good prognosis and lots of people, I think, thought I wouldn't be around for long!
I live in Clifton in Bristol and notice that some of you meet at Browns for lunch. I would love to meet up with you all if you will have me. Regards Mo Milsom
